Against my better judgment I ran through the drive thru last night on my way home and I was starving. I rang the bell at the window a young gentleman took my order, I paid and waited. He brought my drink and said the food will be out shortly. Then about 5 minutes later, a young lady comes to the window and tells me the kitchen is closed. I was so confused. The restaurant was still open, all of the lights were on, no sign on the drive thru window stating kitchen hours, staff took my order. She refunded my card but there is so much wrong with how that got handled. David's needs to do better if they are going to keep customers. I cannot recommend and will not be back. read more

Tonight I ordered pork chops which came with a side I do not eat, broccoli. I asked if I could change the side and was told no. I asked her why are you charging us the same when I am not getting one of the sides. She said it was MY choice not to get it. I don't eat broccoli. Why not offer me a choice instead of forcing people to eat what you think they should eat. Food was meh anyway. My husband got a grilled chicken ceaser wrap, but it came with Italian dressing??? David's has become a weekly stop for our family. We love the fact that we can get breakfast any time of day. Most lunch and dinner plates come with a complimentary cup of their delicious homemade soup. Each day they feature a different soup like, chicken and noodle, navy bean, vegetable, tomato basil, clam chowder, cream of spinach, and much more. Their menu covers anything from sandwiches, to stir fry, or pasta, to Mexican dishes. You'll never get board of their menu. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is always pleasant. We also appreciate that their prices have stayed affordable. If you're ever in Asheboro, this is a must try. read more

This is place is so average I think I finally understand why they still exist. They make everything at just enough quality and consistency that people who live here dont mind coming back. I've eaten at this establishment about 5 times and have always been pleased with both the service and the food. Today we sat outside on the open patio. They have lights that are sure to make the evening atmosphere very pleasing and relaxing as well. Today I had the crab stuffed avocado. It is served with fruit and cottage cheese. My daughter substituted her cottage cheese for potato salad. It was a very beautiful plate and tasty! I will be getting that dish again. The skillets are also very delicious! We were on a road trip and always prefer to find local eateries to dine at if time permits. We chose David's as its menu was big (not huge) but still had the incredible variety you would expect from a full service diner. The atmosphere was pleasant enough and our server was attentive and friendly. I decided to try the French dip, a favorite of mine when done right. Like many diners in Chicago, a cup of soup seems to come with every order. I wasn't particularly eager to have it, but went ahead and chose the chicken noodle anyway. It arrived piping hot with chock full of ingredients. The stock had a rich chicken flavor and I ended up almost finishing it all.....which in the end proved to be a very smart decision. When the sandwich arrived, I knew it was not going to be a home run. Everything was off, from the bad bread and huge bowl of diluted aus jus to the beef that looked tired, dry and grey. The up-charge to get onion rings as a side, was not worth it. They were too greasy and spongy. I literally could not eat the rest of my meal. My husband couldn't even remember what he ordered, and I couldn't either so I can't comment on his lunch, but the fact that neither of us could recollect speaks volumes. The server kind of disappeared once our mains were delivered, so it wasn't until we needed the check that he noticed my plate was untouched. I didn't ask, but he quickly offered to take it off our bill. A nice gesture indeed. Unfortunately, we will not return. read more

We are just in town for one night so I searched Yelp for a restaurant. This place sounded like just what we wanted Both my sister and I are foodies so this place was great, Big menu and lots to choose from. I was in the mood for a burger. Got the bacon cheese burger, fries and a side salad. Meat was ok, but the brioche bun was perfect, bacon, lettuce,and tomato was excellent. And the fries were so good. I'm all about good fries. You can ask for whatever sauce you want. I love dipping my fries in blue cheese so our waiter was happy to accommodate. Side salad was super fresh and tasty. My sister got the honey mustard chicken wrap. Huge wrap. Filled with tons of tender chicken. The sauce really made this good. The honey mustard was sweet with a ZING. She got tons of fabulous fries. So many we decided to take the rest with us. She got the clam chowder and she was wild over it. Big chunks of potatoes, nice delicate clams with a creamy soup. She said it was perfect. Our waiter spent time answering all of our questions and he was keeping our drinks filled. Angel was his name and he alone gets a 5 star. Bumped into this place based on reviews and is a solid 4. We liked it - staff is super great - food was fast. Seems like a family run place and everyone is in good spirits. Food tasted fresh like the produce was new. I laughed because the purple onion used in my wrap was thick and cut with many slices but they left a couple layers of the out skin included - pulled that out of my mouth and sandwich and kept eating. I could just tell someone must be learning their way through the back but you could tell effort was being made. Not sure if they made or bought potato salad but I liked it. David's is one of my favorite places to eat here in town . There is always a crowd here and if I'm just being completely honest you will have a wait . I have been here all different times of the day and all different days of the week and I have always had to wait . You will probably wait to be seated and then you will probably have a wait for your food. However my food has ALWAYS been worth the wait . It's cooked fresh to order and it's always been reasonably priced . Their soups are absolutely amazing here. Every day is a different soup so I'd suggest calling ahead if your wanting a specific flavor. The cream of Chicken and Rice is the best soup I've ever had in my life ( sorry garmma ) . My kids love that they have breakfast all day long . The breakfast specials are huge and the price Honestly can't be beat . I've never experienced bad service here the waiters/waitresses have always been polite and quick to oblige any of our requests. If you are not in the mood to wait you can call your order in and pick it up at the drive up window. We love the outdoors seating on nice breezy days . We are regulars at David's, and we will continue to be. One of my favorites in the Athenian hobo skillet. The hobo skillets are veggies or meats atop a bed of sliced potatoes, with two eggs on top. Fabulous. I also love David's soups and the salads are always fresh and crunchy. Perfect. So there are many things for me to choose from! We like to eat outside or inside. Once in a while, during COVID, the service was marginal, but now everything seems to be back to excellent. My husband usually gets the chopped steak plate or the fish and chips, and is well-satisfied with both. I should mention that my daughter doesn't like David's and won't go, but I can't remember why. It just doesn't suit her, I think. But I still give David's five stars. read more

Ah David's, I wish we had more meals together. I had a gyro and the hubs got a chicken quesadilla. We thought we were having another meal later on (we weren't) and tried to do something decently light. Boy oh boy, how we loved our dishes. Both of us agreed that we couldn't have gone wrong with anything else they have on the menu. Plus, you can order online and they have a drive thru. I would say it was okay but not awesome. We went in on a Monday evening about 5:00 pm. We were seated and the waitress took our drink orders. I got the Athenian wrap & my spouse had the rib eye and eggs. The soup was hot & tasty. When our orders arrived my wrap was good but my Fred were limp & greasy. The waitress showed up infrequently so it was difficult to request refills given her infrequent appearances. My husband's steak was tough Yhe waitress came up about halfway through and told my husband that hashbrowns if he wanted them. When they arrived they were hot and fresh. I would call this meal okay but not great. I doubt we will return. read more

We go to David's somewhat frequently, usually calling and picking up at the drive through. We often have to wait ten minutes or more for food that was supposed to be ready. The door bell on the window only works half the time. And usually, our food is somehow wrong. We like to support local and the food is great, but it's not worth it when you have to keep going back for the right food. read more

I want to preface this by stating that my wife, and I, were very excited to try this place after hearing so many good things. I wish we had a similar tale to tell. I left food category blank because we never got to try it. Service 1 star, and atmosphere a 5. We were promptly seated, and we let the waitress know that this was our first time there. She was polite enough to explain some things about the menu, and have a couple of suggestions. We took our time, then placed our order (just the two of us). Then the wait began. While we saw the young waitress working the tables on other side of the aisle, several times, we saw ours walk by 3 times. The other side had two booths, each with 4 people in them. One, ordered when we did, and they received their food, ate it, and paid, but hung around to chit chat. The other table, came in well after us, ordered, and when they received their food, while we were still waiting, it was quite alarming. I walked up to the register to inquire about the delay, and was told she would check on it. I sat down, and very shortly after here came our waitress with all of our food. I explained that we no longer wanted the food, because it had been 45 minutes since we placed our order. Instead of saying, " I am so sorry, and explaining the delay", her reply was, "it's ok, we won't charge you". She has completely missed the point. We got up, stopped at the register, offering to pay for our drinks, but they told us that we did not need to, so we left. Hopefully, this is not the norm, and if we decide to try again, it will go better. The menu really look good, but the service was just awful. read more

This place was great, it seem to be a hot spot in the area so you may need to wait but the wait wasn't to bad about 30 mins. for our larger party of 7. The sever was very sweet and the food was really good, the fries were a little cooler then I liked but portions are great for the money and you even get free soup. We will definitely be returning whenever we go to the zoo. read more

We enjoy David's especially for the breakfast served all day. Consistently good food as well as cheerful attentive service. Soup is a define plus here served daily. Clean dining room and bathroom and adequate disabled parking and access for bringing a wheelchair. My 95 year old Mom enjoys David's and we try to take her after her Dr. Appts and special occasions. It's a little far to drive but worthwhile. The hot chocolate is a treat. Haven't had their Hispanic food or Italian but I think it probably as good as the breakfasts. Trusting the Yelp reviewers, we decided on David's. It did not disappoint. First, the menu is large and varied. There has to be something for everyone ... from burgers to salads, breakfast served all day, Mexican and Italian ... and more! Our food was fresh and tasty. Fairly priced and friendly staff.
