I can't write a review good enough, but I'll try to express how AWESOME these guys are. I have an HP Spectre and my screen was damaged. I took it to a different repair shop and after about two months, my screen fell apart. Then, my video stopped working, then...nothing. I took it to a second repair shop and they literally didn't do anything with it. They held it for about two weeks and then said "we don't know how to fix it...". Um, you're a certified HP Tech... Anyway, the third time is a charm. Apparently the Spectre is a pain to fix, but it was no match for The Gadget Guys. It did take a few attempts, but after dealing with the first two shops, I knew it wasn't an easy repair. As if fixing it wasn't enough, they didn't even charge me extra for the overtime it took. Another bonus was I bought a $200 refurbished laptop to use while my Spectre was being fixed. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend using them if you have any computer issues. The Gadget Guys in Fort Washington are courteous and professional. They have transferred data from a 10 year old Apple backup to a current android backup. They had to order a storage device and still had the project completed in only a few days. The 2nd job was cleaning a very infected laptop. 3 days and the Gadget Guys had her cleaned up and running smoothly. They even installed a free anti-virus program. Great little hidden gem. Family owned and operated. Kinda difficult to find initially, but you enter via the dry cleaners and the door to Gadget Guys is inside. The ladies answering the phone are very knowledgeable and friendly. I was getting a broken laptop screen replaced. Not only was I able to get a reasonable and fairly accurate estimate via phone, but they took custody of my unit same day with a 3 day repair timeframe promise (part had to be ordered) but had the job completed in two. They even have a 10% military discount, which they volunteered (and didn't have to b/c I never noticed it stamped on the bottom of my service ticket). They allowed me the discount based on my word. I took my Apple MacBook in because it was acting strange. I left a $50 deposit. Two weeks later I picked it up because Wayne couldn't find the problem. I didn't get my deposit back because he said that he had done testing and had spent time on it. When I got it home and checked the "history" it showed that it hadn't been started since I took it in. He may be ok on mechanical repairs but he doesn't know Apple. Now I question what he did other than take my $50. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience. The short story - it took them 2 months to "fix" my macbook and in the end they still messed something else up - the motherboard, so it's now ruined - paperweight. The long story - I took my 2015 macbook air here because it wasn't turning on/water damage. Apparently they don't service macbooks here (or at least the 2015 version??) so they sent it to Florida. The Florida people took their sweet time - they would order the pieces needed to fix (understandable) but would take weeks to do it. Wayne barely kept me in touch, I had a schedule where I could call once each Friday for an update. They "fixed" it one month later so I went in the store... it still wasn't turning on.... so it had to be sent to Florida again. Are you mad for me yet? So ANOTHER month passes for them to "fix it". Wayne is kind enough to give me a $30 discount through the phone (which he later switches to $25.. but why argue over $5). Anyways, at the store it turns on. Week and a half goes by... IT TURNS OFF AGAIN. At this point I do a chargeback on my credit card because they clearly don't know what they're doing and decide to take it somewhere else... they find that whoever previously fixed it didn't close up the motherboard correctly and effectively fried it (I believe that's what he said but I'll find out today and update if it's different). Changing the motherboard would cost $450 so it wouldn't be worth it for a 2015 macbook. So "The Gadget Guys" ruined my laptop. I'll have to buy another laptop, but not before I left them this bad review. read more

I have been using gadget guys for computer repair for about a year. They come to my office. They respond quickly and I never have to wait until forever to get a response. I first started using them because I called another store and they said it would take 3 for someone to come to my office. If I dropped off my computer. In such case it would take about 2 weeks to get it back. Going that long without my computer is my definition of hell. I called the gadget guys and they came the same day. A few months later I found out that they also sell computers. So far I have purchased 5 laptops and 2 desktops from them and they are all working great. Gadget guys are now the only computer guys that I use. I am about to get an upgraded server from them in a few weeks. Pros They come to my office. Super fast response They make you feel like your business matters. Their repair prices are fair, about 10-20% below what I was paying before I started using them. Their computer purchase price are crazy low. Cons They stay open late until about 8PM but I wish they opened earlier. I think they open at 10:00AM. read more

I was trying to upgrade a HP computer to a larger case so that I could add a graphic card and larger watt power supply. I consider myself tech savvy but I couldn't make heads or tails of why the motherboard wouldn't work in the new case. There are lots of shops that may offer data retrieval but I was finding it difficult to find a shop that could handle computer building as well. My sister remembered that years ago Gadget Guys had done some data retrieval for her. A sadly and remarkably disreputable minority business. I saw an ad on craigslist for several Lenovo laptops. I bought a laptop that they said would work fine but it doesn't. It's far, far slower than they said it would be. The operating system is outdated. The speakers don't work. I tried to exchange it but they refused to honor their own stated exchange policy. I warned the owner I would complain, and he accused me of threatening him. Completely disreputable sales and service. I've done business with dozens of minority-owned shops and have worked with and for African Americans in all different settings. I've never been more disappointed. read more
