I went here for a solo dinner after work just after 6. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, and I was able to sit wherever I wanted. For my main course, I had the Moroccan Chicken. It was seasoned incredibly well, and wasn't too spicy. There was enough spice to give the dish a kick, but not so much that it distracted from other flavors. The lentils that were blended into the sauce made the dish more filling. The side salad was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. For dessert I had the baklava. First time at this restaurant while in the area for work. Parking is on the street at $2.00 per hour. The dining room is small but decorated colorfully. I was quickly greeted upon entry and seated. Water was brought to the table in a swing top bottle. After looking at the menu I had seen a few different dishes that caught my eye. Ultimately, I chose the Falafel Rice Bowl since it had several components to the dish. I figured I could sample the most items in this dish. It included fried falafel, hummus, pickled turnips, tahini and salad all sitting on seasoned rice. I asked for a side order of their house made hit sauce and garlic whip, both of which were items featured in other dishes on the menu. Additionally, I ordered a drink, Vitmo, whi h had blavk currants, black carrots, raspberris and pear juice. The time it took to prepare the food seemed appropriate. While waiting for my lunch to be prepared I noticed a couple bottles of olive oil at the host station. I had to ask about the. What I learned is the family has their own olive orchard in Israel and produced this olive oil. I was told the olive oil was produced using stone. Of course it is cold pressed and also unfiltered. They were availae for sale so I got one to take home as a tasty souvenir. My food was very good. The falafel was flavorful and not dry. A very generous portion was served and it was fresh and delicious. The pickled turnips added nice cruch and texture. The salad was light and refreshing. The rice that everything sat on was excellent. I could not figure out how they seasoned it but it was great. The garlic whip (I believe it's actually called Toum), was everything I could ask for being the garlic fanatic I am. I added small dollops to my bowl as I made my way to the bottom. This, accompanied with the hot sauce, made my palate rejoice. The drink I ordered was fruity and complemented my meal. Portions for apps are big enough to share. Portions for dinner are big enough to take some home. You can tell the food is prepared with quality ingredients and exceptional care, because you won't feel bloated and heavy after eating, but you will feel satisfied. The falafel is some of the best I've ever had. As others have noted service is pretty sub-par. Food isn't much better, you can do better in other places -- but might be the best Mediterranean that Scranton has to offer, though. Ordered a wrap and a taboulleh salad. Taboulleh was under-spiced and watery. The wrap was bleh, pita was very dry (didn't appear fresh or homemade) and the meat equally underwhelmingly seasoned. The interesting service twist that I was here with a few friends. We were wearing masks, since there's a pandemic, and we were served on paper plates and disposable cutlery. We told by the friendly server that the dishwasher was "broken." We thought nothing of it until a middle-aged couple walked in, not wearing masks, and were served their meal on regular (non-paper) plates and silverware. I guess the "dishwasher" must have magically been repaired on a weekend evening, in the 20 minutes between when we walked in and this couple was served. A couple of people in our group weren't white. Which makes this kind of fishy. This would be an unremarkable place serving otherwise unremarkable food but inconsistent service deserves to be called out with a poor review. Edit: after looking at other posts which mention the disposable plates it's clear that this place serves some clientele a certain way and others get the second tier of service. The Garden comes by it's five stars honestly, the staff is inviting and helpful- it feels like dinner at grandmas. All of the bread is made fresh in house and the olive oil is pressed in the holy land in family orchards. The falafel platter was the best I've ever had, and my husband's gyro was gone quickly. Very authentic Lebanese food and family owned. The spices in the tabouli were perfectly balanced and the falafel was out of this world. I had shawarma in many different places before. The chicken shawarma plate here was anything but that! More like tasteless stewed chicken and random pieces of onion (?!). I've been waiting months for the opportunity to try this place. It's really beautiful inside and the warm welcome was encouraging. When the grape leaves came out microwaved to a crisp, I thought to send them back, as that is never a good start. But, I decided that in the interest of time, I'd let it slide-I mean, there's no way that's standard practice-lesson one, never assume. My guests' lamb gyro wrap was small, torn and soggy. My chickpea veggie burger was microwaved so severely, that it was a hockey puck covered in bagged-dried, wilted and somewhat brown salad, tabbouleh, a few tomatoes and pickled turnips. This sat on top of a generous amount of hummus with absolutely no flavor of any kind. In fact, after getting a knife to try the center of the patty, with everything combined in one bite, the only discernible flavors were cinnamon and parsnip. This disappointment reminded me of the last Mediterranean spot I tried in Pittston, all I tasted there was cinnamon too. A quick search of their menu and it would appear, it's the same place. Had I known that, I would've just walked in for ma'amoul to go. I got the impression that the women at the front of house could cook an amazing meal. I hope they'll consider spending time in the kitchen and sharing authentic food with paying customers because right now, the only thing working back there is the microwave on far too high a wattage, though the same cannot be said for its operator. read more

We ordered mixed appetizers platter, it says could be shared among 2-4 people, I would say, more like 4-6 people. We also got the cheese flat bread, lamb gyro and chicken gyro platter. Fantastic lunch and dinner option for the downtown area. I frequented this establishment when it was in west pittston area and it really has the same standard of quality, if not better. The service is wonderful and friendly, the food is incredibly flavorful and the interior creates a relaxing atmosphere. For lunch I enjoy the falafel bowl and for dinner I enjoy the veggie burger. For mothers day, my table shared the garden mezza; it was spectacular. If you want to try something different, it is well worth your time and money. Wow, why did it take me so long to discover this gem!? I can honestly say, eating at the Garden Mediterranean Cafe made me so happy. The food was freshly prepared and scratch made. My friend and I shared the Mezza Platter and the Chicken Over Rice. The Mezza Platter was a great starter and really set the tone for the evening. Not only were the dips and salads fresh and full of flavor but the meat pie and pita were hot out of the oven!! My friend insisted we try the Chicken Over Rice and I'm so glad we did. I always have to remind myself that Mediterranean food is pricey but wow. You get taken care of for what you pay I just had the falafel for $6 expecting pita and falafel that's what the menu made you think.. this pita burrito was the size of my head filled with 3 or 4 falafel smashed tabulah hummus pickled vegetable salad. It was amazing. My partner had the Zatar flatbread and the meat flatbread. "Large and delicious take caution " they smelled so good. Tabuleh was amazing Hummus was the best hummus I've had in a long while. All of their olive oil comes from their family farm in the holy land. All their products are of best quality and organic. This place really is going for quality and I love that in restaurants. If you are new to the area google maps sent me to a house about five houses before the actual restaurant. Check them out, great customer service Would receive 5 stars if one of my favorite menu items wasn't served to me. My grape leaves seemed like they were frozen and then thawed and the rice dried up and was very gritty and dry.
