This is both a market where you can purchase Middle Eastern products such as olive oil, snacks, numerous types of dates, yogurts, etc. However, they also cook some amazingly tasty dishes that you can take home with you or eat in the store. Keep in mind, they only have about four tables if you want to dine at the store. The two guys who run the place are as nice as you'll find anywhere and explained what was in several of the dishes. I had the Shakshuka and Chicken Shawarma. I was blown away by how good the Chicken Shawarma tasted. Definitely the best I've had in NEPA. The Shakshuka was fantastic and it came with an entire bag Taboon Bread that was nice and warm. I ended up taking most of the bread home and will eat it with dinner tonight. I intend to try everything on this menu eventually and the next dish is definitely going to be Kabsa. Oh, and the also make cheesesteaks which at first I thought was strange for a mid-east restaurant but so many people have told me that they are one of the best they've ever tasted.

I ordered the chicken kabab and my husband had the lamb shank. For dessert, we ordered the oven baked rice pudding. It is served cold, however. This is a must visit when you're in town! It's a large dining area and nicely decorated with Turkish flair. The blues/rock music playing in the background was not what you would expect, but very enjoyable. The service was good, but it did take a while to get the bill when leaving. My lentil soup was good and perfect for the cold evening. I had the Karnijarick which is eggplant stuffed with ground lamb bathed in a tomato-based sauce. Flavor was good and not oversalted, but light on spices. It was served with white rice and grilled veggies. My wife had the lamb shank which was a bit tough and too light on seasoning. The salad was good. My favorite was the naan type bread serves with the meals. Overall, enjoyable, but not a great value.

This place is like a breath of fresh air in the mundane food scene at Wilkes Barre, PA. Writing…read morethis review gives me a nostalgic joy :) Except the shabby parking spots that are tough to maneuver during winter months, they don't have any other cons. This itself says so much about the restaurant. Food is consistently good, staff (including the owner) take the time to greet the customers & make them feel comfortable and service is very quick (Less than 20 minutes) My favorites were and still are falafel and mamoul cookies. In fact, I tried mamoul for the very first time here and got instantly addicted. They're shortbread cookies (made with a special impression) filled with either dates or fig paste. Not overly sweet and made with the right consistency, I highly recommend them. Prices are fair and although they have a dine-in area, last I checked, they allow only takeout. And, their timings are suitable for lunch and early dinner, so plan accordingly.

The baba ghanouj is bangin'; that's the first place I ever tried it but anything I've had since then, just doesn't cut it. The baba ghanouj is light and fresh, unlike store-bought brands that can sometimes taste metallic or bitter. Add the meat pie for a well-seasoned update on the pasty we grew up with (apparently the Cornish pasty is a protected food in the EU, like champagne or asiago, who knew).
