This was such a beautiful hidden gem. We spotted this restaurant as we were making our way back from dinner one night and said this is a place I want to come back to. Went in here to just have drinks, which I've done at many other restaurants in Italy. The server and host were so rude when telling us that they would only serve us drinks if we ordered dinner. I understand that some restaurants have certain policies, but there was no need to be rude and dismissive to potential patrons. read more

The highlight of the meal was the ambiance and beautiful garden. We made a reservation, which I recommend, so we had a great table. Reasonable prices for a bottle of wine! The food was mostly great. Fresh and beautifully cooked seafood. We had calamari as an appetizer and it was perfectly soft inside (not chewy) and crunchy outside. The lobster was cooked really well, but I didn't enjoy the shrimp ravioli. It had me questioning if they forgot the shrimp, or just shredded it up really fine, but the ricotta with the lemon tasted so sweet, it was reminiscent of a dessert and just off putting. The steak was great, but the actual peppercorns were a bit much. Overall, other than the ravioli, we were very happy. I would recommend this if you're interested in atmosphere. read more

My first time in Italy, We went there the first day we were there and it was great! We did come quite early (around 6:30ish) as it seemed pretty empty and slower. I got the Mezzi Paccheri and it was terrific, as was the bread given beforehand. The staff was quite kind and helpful and they spoke pretty great english. Street-side dining spot with outdoor seating along the main path! Stumbled across this spot during a busy night, as they had an open table. Service was attentive--our waiter spoke English. Even though this place looks touristy (they had an English menu), we were pleasantly surprised by the food. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the rosemary potatoes were soft and seasoned so well. Do not come here, listen to the bad waiter reviews. They are all rude and refused to sit a party of 6 into 3 & 3 yet seated a party of 4 together who were behind us ? They refused to sit us saying "no" and nothing else when WE tried to accommodate them and their seating. Me and 3 other people came the night before and the food was mediocre at best. The tiramisu tasted nothing like a regular tiramisu. The espresso martinis were extremely strong and also mediocre at best. Servers were rude both times. Not welcoming or accommodating at all. Walking around Sorrento looking for a spot for lunch, we were intrigued by the prospect of sitting in The Garden so we decided to check it out. They have a great rooftop, surrounded by trees, where you can dine. We were able to be seated right away, but we arrived right as a tour group was leaving. I would recommend booking in advance if you would like to eat during peak lunch hour. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak, but the real highlight of our meal was my lemon pasta special with shrimp. The pros of this place are 1) nice fresco dining area. And I think that is the end of the list. As others have commented, the service is outragiously bad. Waiters are condencending and rude, and you will wait forever for a simple drink. The food is the second worse thing. The braised "lamb" was hard as a rock, and certainly tasted like a poorly cooked chuck roast. I showed the waiter how hard the pieces of lamb were (I could barely pierce it with a fork!) and he picked up the plate and actually said "everyone else likes it". I replied "maybe they have never had lamb before". He huffed and walked away. This was the most expensive place we ate in Sorrento and the only bad place. It was very disappointing. Beware the steak which is priced by weight. I was given a 350g or 400g steak option. I chose the 350 (thinking that is more than enough). The steak that came out would have been lucky to be 150g. I raised the issue and the once very fluent in English staff began to be very hard to communicate with and dismissive. 28 euros for a poorly cooked, chewy, sizzle steak and a diced potato. We went to have lunch here, all ten of us. The servers ignored us at first. Then they were setting up a long table for us. They must have heard us talk about sharing a couple of pizzas because we're small eaters. The server said we have to order one dish each in a rude manner. While in Sorrento, we were looking for a place that was off the main street and has a great atmosphere. We found that at The Garden. Downstairs you can sit at tables on the street drinking wine, while upstairs you can enjoy a several course meal. Everything was so fresh, even the plants were blooming flowers. Another nice touch here was there was no smoking in the garden area. The menu has many items to select from. Pasta, seafood, beef and chicken dishes. We did not select a dessert, we had gelato down the street at Bougainville's Gelato. This was a great find. Make sure you check it out. read more

We found this sweet restaurant off the beaten path with a lovely garden roof above the charming tables with some overlooking the street below . We were seated almost right away and given plenty of attention by the wait staff . Other reviews mentioned being ignored or having do deal with rude staff . This was the opposite of our experience. The flavor in the eggplant wrapped seabass with potatoes and grilled veggies was perfect. My husband enjoyed the gnocchi and for dessert we shared a cannola to die for . Really excellent food and service in an adorably decorated patio restaurant. My favorite was the stack of lightly breaded and fried anchovies I had as my lunch main course. They are memorable because they were soooo good and because I could find nothing similar on any other menu during our two weeks in Italy. We chose this restaurant because of their terrace overlooking the charming street and there was a table available right on the veranda. We were seated promptly by a waiter, but nobody else came by until we call another waiter who brought us the menus and wine list. 15 more minutes passed by and we had to call a waiter to order drinks. We ordered 2 Aperol spritzes and asked for a recommendation between 2 wines we chose. The waiter said would call his father to recommend... Bad idea. The father (restaurant owner) come by with a completely different bottle and insisted on us to try it. Initially we resisted but upon insistence, I made clear that if we didn't like it we would send it back. He said it would be ok. Well.. the wine was very acid, so we politely said we would like to try the ones we chose. He said both were unavailable. I asked for the list again. Then he said only wines above €35 euros were available. Not to make it worse we chosen one of those, which actually was very good. Once the wine was served a few raindrops came down and the table next to us moved inside. The waiter offered us the same but the rain menace seems to be finishing so he said we could be there but would have a table ready in case it didn't stop. It stopped. Then we had to wait another 10-15 minutes to have our order taken as the owner seems to be the only one able to take food orders as it is normal in many European restaurants... But at that time there were about 5 tables around and 3 were eating already. Once our order was taken the owner ordered us to go inside and started to pick everything up from the table. We followed thru but we felt better to leave, but it was already 11 PM so finding a good restaurant for dinner could have been challenging. Food was good, but that's nothing to brag about. Every restaurant in Sorrento is great. Don't go to this place. It might look decent but there have a terrible customer services. I went there last night with my kids and since I wasn't hungry, I was going to share a pizza with my daughter. My son ordered his food and my daughter ordered a pizza. When it was my turn, I told the waiter that was going going to share with her. He said "no sharing here". Then I said, ok, I am not hungry so I won't order anything. He took off right way cussing in Italian and telling the other waitress what just happened. The kitchen was close by and he told the cook what happened so everyone was looking at us. I told my kids, "let's go cause they will probably spit at your food". So I went to pay the water we had and the cashier was really pissed at us. Crazy experience!! Terrible place! Beautiful Rooftop Garden dining experience with incredible food and friendly staff. We got to choose our table which was near the rail over looking the street below. We started with a sparkling wine and the antipasti rustico. I followed that with the Ravioli filled with shrimp and lemon in a mild basil sauce surrounded by sauted baby clams. I came with a group of 6 and off the bat the waiter told us that we had to order the same thing because it would be more convenient for them. The service was not acceptable for the price of food. I asked for olive oil and balsamic and they slapped down a small packet next to me. I glanced around and every table had bread except for us and when I asked he rolled his eyes. 4 of the 6 girls had truffle pasta and said it was below average for the price of $30. A reasonably-priced, extensive wine list plus excellent pastas (a particularly generous black truffle pasta) and great service make this one of our two most favorite restaurants in Sorrento. read more

Lovely rooftop restaurant and wine bar/tasting room (on the ground floor) with so many wonderful wine choices. The food is also excellent and the menu has a good mix of pastas, seafood and pizzas (and meats). Patrons can even do a few different wine flights of exceptional and unique local wines, paired with cheeses. Their prices are extremely reasonable, both for the restaurant and for bottles of wine sold in their wine shop. The staff was very attentive, but not pushy or rude. read more

This was by far one of my favorite restaurants in Sorrento! We sat downstairs at the wine bar outside on the street and watched the action of the summer night. We shared several plates including a fantastic antipasti- the torta di formaggi con carne was incredible- almost exactly like my grandmother's! After a long day of traveling we stopped by this little gem of a place. It is upstairs and open to the street below. There is only a view of the street below, but that does not matter. As we waited in a small line to be seated, we were greeted by eye contact by staff, but they were working, no time for chit chat. After we were seated, white table clothes ( not fancy at all, shorts and a tshirt very acceptable), given our menus , the waiter (owner we found out later) came by to take out order. We had the margarita pizza with prosciutto, gnocchi. When I order a glass of wine, he scoffed, "bottle?", later,after I finished my wine and ordered a bottle, he gave me a small smile. Being from Los Angeles, I of course thought he was on the upsell...nah, just trying to please. I will say, I ordered a glass of Amarone, it was 12 euros,(I think the most expensive glass) , I was somewhat shocked when the wine was delivered, it was a .1 liter pour. The wine glass was made with a mark to set the level of wine. Again, the owner tried to tell me. With my 12 euro wine, another half bottle, an aperol spritz, gnocchi, pizza it was 57 euros ( this includes a 2 euro per person service charge) read more

Would have loved to try the food here, but didn't wait long enough to sit down and eat. As my family and I walked up, no one greeted us for approx 5 minutes (they were very crowded - that didn't bother me). I eventually asked the bartender "excuse me, do we ask for a table here or somewhere else?"...to which he VERY rudely replied "the restaurant is right there - i don't know why you'd want to go somewhere else." No need for him to be nasty - I was just wondering where we should check in with a waiter/host to request a table. When my Dad told the bartender he was being rude, he replied "There are 200 restaurants in Sorrento - go to one of them." So, we did. I suggest everyone else do the same.
