I can't believe I'm saying this but this is a must stop if you're visiting Gilroy! The people we met were phenomenal - some of the kindest and most helpful. They told us what we could do and put us on all their "trails" (garlic, taco, and beer) with maps included! They also had a great selection of souvenirs and a fun photo op! Dave, the Owner is a very sweet man that always welcomes you into the store and helps you find what you need. The Store has a great selection of hard-to-find BBQ sauces, hot sauces, Mustards and seasonings, including Garlic Festival Foods and Garlic Capital Products. The prices are reasonable for the specialty items that are offered here. I recommend stopping in on the Weekend after you've put your name in at OD's... you might a well since it's less than a half block up on Monterey St,...instead of staring at all the other people waiting to be seated...

A few steps in is pick up for your order. You keep walking, that's where you place your order. Further down to the right was the restroom. The restrooms were decent. they could use some cleaning. The restroom floor by the sink was wet. One restroom was out of order, but I think they use it for employees only. My order was ready super fast, and pastries were fresh. Overall, it was a great experience. This might be my new stop when going on road trips.

I've been told that it is hot compost, so it may need to sit for awhile before you can use it. I plan to amend my clay soil with it in hopes of planting veg someday. For now, I am digging out the bermuda grass and pre-sprouting weed seeds :o) Check out my photos for an idea of what to expect - they uploaded in random order. Bring a tarp and weights (I used pavers) or tie downs to cover your load. A pair of gloves and a small stiff rake might be helpful too!

So thank GOD for the shroom company. Some think mushrooms have no nutritional value. Mushrooms DO have vitamins and metals good for the body. Also, they are high in fiber, and low in sodium and other bad stuff. But, most importantly, they's delicious. It's obviously a farm and distribution location. But, having the opportunity to see the facility, I respect the shroom a bit more.

It's the last full-service stop for up to 75 miles. They've got gas, cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches, beer, wine, auto products, medicine, firewood, charcoal, flowers, baked goods, eggs, milk, ice cream, and party supplies--seriously, the list goes on. There's a clean laundromat, a delicious Mexican restaurant, and the bathrooms are clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming. If you're heading through San Benito County or to the park, this place I Highly recommend!

SALTY NUTS & SAUSAGE are my two favorite things in the world! I know I'm sick and I need help.) Oh they are located directly across from the Bratwurst Truck yeah baby... So my roommate Elliot (real dark red head) is a super regular their on Tuesdays and he always leaves some trail mix stuff out. Now I'm not "crunchy" or hippy dippy and normally don't dig on what some people would call birdfood although I know it is packed with nutrients etc... and I tried and it and I have to be honest. This particular mix doesn't look specail at all, not a fancy assortment or a wild range of colorful edible goodies, just a nice blend of basics and then some and what a great baggie fille with wonderful flavors. The one I'm talking about is called the "Deluxe Trail Mix". Then I've been on this kick and get dried sliced Mangos from Trader Joe's and I tried theirs and they are up there my friends... "Natural Mangos" (new crop from our Neighbors - Mexico) are just slightly sweet and uber tasty. Like paradise in your boca guey. Ok and the last thing I tried and of course got were the "Chocolate Covered Blenheim Apricots". Ummm kickass and killer! I've been meaning to up my intake of fruits! It worked out! All this (4 bags in total - I got 2 Deluxe Trail Mix) for only $10!!! No wonder why my roomie goes there almost every week. Don't miss this fun and luscious fruit and nut stand. Forget your Frutas from da Casa... It's all about the Apricot Farm.
