I went to a friend's birthday party. It was held in the room with its own entrance well to the left…read moreof the main entrance. When I went in the main, I told them I was there for that event and they directed me down to the proper door. This party room has a bar area as well as several tables and a cozy sitting area. It has its own unisex bathroom. There are sliding barn doors at the front and back of the room to allow both privacy for the party as well as easy pass through for the staff. The servers that were taking care of us were great! My friend had arranged for pizza and everyone was on their own for drinks. We had a variety of pizzas. My favorite was the Jalapeno Popper Pie. It had sweet chili sauce and the toppings were mozzarella, cream cheese, chorizo, bacon and jalapenos. That was delicious! For beer, I started "light" for me. Blarney Stone is a 5% ABV Red Irish Ale. That was tasty, but being that dark is my favorite, I needed to get a pint of Cow Tipper next. Cow Tipper is a 5% ABV milk stout. Dark beers are my jam so I really enjoyed this one. This was a great space for the party. They even let my friend set up their karaoke equipment and we were belting out the tunes. Great time!

Ate at The Garlic Knot once. I like trying different pizzas but most of them are not as good as Black Jacks. Have never had a bad pizza at Black Jack Pizza. When I worked for Twin City Security I was a rover and I had permission to get a Black Jack Pizza from the wife when ever I worked overtime. Anyway back to pizza. I like to try different pizza places and it is rare to have a pizza better then Black Jacks. Howie's with their flavored crust may be a tad better. And there was another pizza joint that may have been a tad better but it was twice the price. Actually glad that Little Caesars has finally raised their prices cuz now the wife may let me have Blackjack more. And it is rare that Little Caesars messes up a pizza and they will re do it on those occasions is my experience. Have only had one pizza at Howies. And have never had a bad pizza from them either. But with Black Jack never having a bad pizza is actually saying something because I have been eating their pizza since the 80s in at least many cities including but not limited to Fort Collins, Greeley, Broomfield, Westminster, Denver and Aurora. Oops left out Brighton which is the Blackjacks where I eat at the most these days. There is also a pizza place in Gunnison that may be a tad better but have only been there twice. read more

I know not to try puffy looking pizza and expect it to taste great. One's love for pizza is personal, and it seems to be at least regionally based. Last Friday, we tried take-out white pizza with anchovies. It was just OK, puffy, slightly greasy (pan style). It fed me. When I try a new place, I also like to sample it's other offerings, and I use the kids menu as my sampling palate. Friday, I also ordered the kids cheese ravioli. When we got home, I opened the container and the aroma of onions almost overtook me (I am the biggest onion hater on the planet). Still, I tried, and yep -- super oniony, so much so that Kate K. could not even eat it, and she can "handle" cooked onions. Just because this place is not for me, does not mean that it is not for you. The Garlic Knot staff did not do anything wrong. If you do not get excited when you hear pizza described as "New York" "tossed" "East Coast" "Northeastern"-- or hell -- "RIGHT COAST" then you may want to try this place. If you like the texture of Papa Johns, Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc., and that is the pizza that you mostly identify or imagine when you think of pizza, then you might like The Garlic Knot. Or if you really love oniony red sauce, this is your place. read more
