Half Brooklyn Burner Half Hawaowan LaoWao

A friend recommended Goombas for takeout pizza and we finally got around to trying it - didn't realize how close we were/that it was in the same strip mall where I go to the bakery! I like that they have the option to do a 1/2 and 1/2 specialty pizza - we got a half Hawaowan Laowao and a half Brooklyn Burner (new pizza). There was a timing issue with picking up the pizza and they had to put it back in but no biggie - since I live close by, didn't mind having to go back and pick up a new fresh pizza. They were very accommodating and threw in a free cookie for the wait. I got the carrot cake cookie and it was absolutely delicious! The pizza itself was very tasty - love BBQ on a pizza, and loved the spicy and sweet (hot honey) of the Brooklyn Burner. Will definitely be back for more takeout pizza!

I thought I'd already reviewed them! This pizza hits the spot whenever I have a craving for some :) the people working there are friendly and have never missed anything on my orders (4-6 orders total now or so.) Toppings always generous, pizza always hot, lots of entree/side options, and apps on point. + they have a few different dessert cases with various cheesecakes, tiramisu and massive cookies! Love that they have soda available by the can (as well as liters.) Happy to have the spot in Arvada so close to us!

Fast service, amazing salad and pizza, and wash it all down with lemonade! So happy we found this little spot in a strip mall after antique shopping!

This is my second review. Goombas is the best pizza in Denver. Their homemade cookies are nothing short of delightful.

I love this neighborhood gem…read more I have been coming here for years and this is my first recommendation for people new to the area. Everything is always delicious It can be a little loud, a little crowded, long line, but it's worth the wait and you don't have to wait long. I was sorry to hear that they recently had a fire. I hope they can remodel and open soon. It is a little suspicious that so many great local restaurants are experiencing fire and damage lately, I hope it's just random bad luck and nothing more nefarious.

The "Restaurant Kid" Litmus Test: Parisi Passes with Flying Colors…read more On my first day in Denver, a childhood friend took me to lunch at Parisi, though he was admittedly a bit apprehensive. Having grown up with Italian heritage on both sides and parents who owned an Italian restaurant, I am notoriously hard to please when it comes to authentic cuisine. He was worried I'd be overcritical; instead, I was completely charmed. Located in a quaint, quiet neighborhood, Parisi offers the kind of authenticity that is rare to find. Here is why it earned a perfect score from a tough critic: The Main Course: The Tagliatelle Ragu was balanced and traditional--exactly what you want from a high-caliber kitchen. The "Woodfire" Factor: The aroma of the woodfire pizza oven hits you the moment you walk in. While we opted to eat inside rather than on the lovely patio, those scents alone convinced me that I have to return specifically for the pizza next time. The Grand Finale: I had to finish the meal with my favorite, Stracciatella gelato. It was the perfect creamy, artisanal end to a fantastic lunch. The service was seamless, the ambiance was inviting, and the food spoke for itself. If you're looking for a spot that feels like a true slice of Italy in the middle of Denver, this is it. I'll definitely be back to tackle that pizza menu!

It had been some time since I was here. I came with my husband and son for dinner on a week night…read more There is plenty of parking available. We were welcomed in and seated. The decor is charming. Our server, Holly, brought us our requested water. My husband ordered bread and butter for the table. He chose the split plate of spaghetti and ravioli. He requested Bolognese instead of marinara. The meals came with salads and he decided to get the Italian dressing. My son chose ranch with his salad and ordered the fettuccini alfredo adding parmesan chicken on top. I chose the fettuccini and meatballs with marinara. I selected Italian dressing for my salad. The salads came on cold plates which made the veggies seem even crisper than they were. It was more than just the usual side salad with the addition of garbanzo beans. We all enjoyed the freshness. My dish was ample and tasty. The meatballs are fork and knife size. The marinara had a bright tomato flavor. Overall enjoyable and enough to bring home for lunch the next day. In fact, we all needed a container. Holly boxed everything up for us. This was a pleasant evening out.

Wow, wow, this is how a restaurant should treat their customers so that they will spread the good…read moreword about their eating experience here, and then to come back in the near future! My husband and I went here to celebrate his birthday and Father's Day this afternoon. We were promptly seated without a reservation at one of the table on the patio to enjoy the fresh air. We started off with an order of garlic knots and Italian /chicken lettuce wraps. We asked about the honey dipping sauce and were told it was on a spicy side, so we skipped paying the extra $2 for it. However, our waitress wanted us to try it, so the honey was on the house. And, boy, that honey dip sauce was indeed very spicy! And the wraps? It was delicious! Fresh cherry tomatoes with diced chicken breast and bean plus seasonings. We loved the dish and finished everything on the plate except for the 3 sauces. We ordered our main entrees after finishing our appetizers. I had the Linguini & Clams, while my husband ordered the Rigatoni & Sausage. What a disappointment my Linguini & Clams dish was to me. The lack of flavor from one of my favorite dishes made me sad. I was looking forward to it. Adding hot pepper flakes, then black pepper, and the worst was adding salt. If this dish were to be prepared correctly, I would have been happy to eat it all. However, I gave up after adding my own spices. The Rigatoni & Sausage dish? OMG, out of this world! The red sauce with the meat sauce smothering the pasta was one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. I'd wished I ordered that dish, but at least I was able to try a couple of bites. When the bill came, our waitress said she took off the clam dish because I didn't like it. THIS, this! is how they gained a new customer! I'll come back and will give them my business. Thank you for treating this customer right and making sure my eating experience will be different the next time I dine here.

Ambiance and food were fine, but not amazing. Generously rating as "ok" mostly due to lackluster…read moreservice. The hostess and our server were casual to the point of being almost rude. After entering the building, the hostess approached with a tepid "what's up." Our server acted like taking our order was a favor, and she was so eager to walk away I had to get her attention TWICE to finish ordering what I wanted (hey, can we also get an order of pepperoni rolls, HEY, can I also get an IPA). Zero attention paid to water and drinks that needed replenishing. The manager needs to pay more attention to the level of service and professionalism of the staff, a lot more. This may be why they tack on a mandatory 20% surcharge with a little lecture on the receipt about how it provides a living wage, because I doubt they'd ever get tips at that level with this style of service. Or maybe the service is that way because they don't feel any need to work for a gratuity. Under the circumstances, calling this a "hospitality" charge was just plain tacky. I didn't feel like there was any hospitality, certainly not enough to warrant a 20% fee.
