Their special, which was basically the choripapas without the nacho cheese, but with the avocado
    Chris S.

Pretty cool little food truck! I got their special which added avocado and fried egg to the choripapas. I didn't get the fried egg myself though. It was very tasty! The fries were perfectly done, and a bit salty but that combined really well with the flavor so I'm not complaining! I assume the "chori" refers to chorizo, but it must be Argentinian for that to be in a sausage style rather than a ground meat style. My only real complaint is that it was advertised as big enough for two, and $15, which seems consistent, but I really feel like this is a single person's worth. If you split it even between two thin people, I think it'd be more of a snack. They did have other items that were cheaper ($9-10) that could be worth trying. Otherwise, up to you if you feel it's worth $15. Happy to make this little lunch stop :)

The owners are adorable and so fun. The empanadas were the BOMB! So tasty, crispy, beefy good.

We also loved the beets with garlic sauce, the potatoes, and the citrusy carrots, which added a refreshing balance to the meal. The leeks were good as well - topped with nuts (hazelnuts?). I did not enjoy the scallop dish. It had 5 teeny tiny scallops with bland black rice and dollops of strange tasting white cream; I was disappointed with this dish. My friend ordered the zucchini dish - it was too mint forward for my liking. Overall, nice place. Expensive, but unique dishes and good service.

When I saw the teasers that they were coming back I was excited for the opportunity and jumped on a reservation as soon as they were available. I'm happy to report the experience didn't disappoint! The atmosphere, food, and service were all awesome! Our server Anthony was warm, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions we had regarding menu items. Their menu is meant to share and that's exactly what my friend and I did. My bestie is pescatarian so we went towards veggie and fish items. To start we got the chips and caviar. The house made chips were yummy and seasoned and somehow with the dip weren't too salty. I think having them with a cocktail is good choice. For mains we landed the red snapper, which was cooked to perfection, the skin was so crispy. We also had the squash rigatoni which was so good, amazing flavors and textures. We were pretty satisfied at that point and knew we wanted to dessert, so we stopped there and got the pistachio tres leches, which was also yummy. Jaja would make a great date night or just a cute meet up with friends. I look forward to visiting again.

I asked a friend what I should get and he recommended the chorizo empanada and guava dessert. Unfortunately, at around noon, most of the desserts were not in stock, including the guava dessert, but I was able to get a chorizo empanada as well as one Columbiana empanada. I got these to-go to eat later at home. There was a bit of a wait, as it was lunchtime and likely filled with busy medical professionals coming from Metro Health across the street. The inside kind of reminds me of a dive bar - messy, with very busy staff. So my empanadas were $3.50 each and were smaller than I would expect for that price. They were also VERY greasy! My to-go container was absolutely soaked with grease. I did enjoy the taste of the empanadas although I couldn't tell which one was which. One supposedly had cilantro and onions but I couldn't tell. If I am in the area again and hungry, I'll pick up an empanada, but what I really want to try is that guava dessert or one of their absolutely MASSIVE slices of cake!

The Culantro Bowl is a great deal, the ají de gallina is great comfort food, and I really love the lomo saltado. I also always get either the jugo de maracuyá or chicha morada to drink. The ceviche was good, though the texture wasn't my favorite personally. I also wasn't a fan of the empanadas since they were sweeter than I'm used to. However, the plantains starter was quite good. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and comfortable, and the service has always been excellent. One of the main servers even remembers my name because I've been coming for so long. Service and atmosphere was great. We had a very attentive and helpful server that gave us recommendations and checked on us often. Elegant restaurant that has a nice and fancy vibe to it. Great for date nights and special occasions. We sampled and found really good tasting wines. Made note and will purchase those wines in the future for casual drinking at home. We started with the complimentary bread and butter. Bread has hot out of the oven and tasted fresh. Also very soft. A+ on the bread. Same with the crab cake for an appetizer. Very small portion of just 1 crab cake, but favor was everything you could want when ordering a crab cake. Moving into the entree is where I marked them down on food. The main course of the meal(Steak, Walleye, Scallops) were excellent for all parties of our table. The problem was the sides were very lacking. My red potatoes were undercooked and hard. They just seemed basic with no added flavors. My green beans were cooked properly, but it was steamed green beans with zero flavor. They were just plain. Same with the corn mix. The sides need more flavor whether it's coming from a seasoning or sauce. We finished our meal off with bread pudding. Didn't get a picture of this, but it was tasty. I try bread pudding at any restaurant that offers it and felt this was mostly a flavored bread with ice cream on it. Not much of the creamy pudding to be a real bread pudding. But it was good for what it was. Overall, I do recommend trying this place. Some flavors will be bland while others will be flavor packed.
