They were deliciously warm. I recommend trying the sauces also (but honestly the empanadas are delicious on their own) as they have some sauce packets that come with your order if you want. I got chimichurri and chipotle mayo. We got an assortment of beef (everyone liked this best), chicken (I really liked), pork (this one is a bit sweet with a subtle BBQ sauce). This makes for a super fast, but filling lunch. I would definitely recommend this place. Service was excellent. Parking is free. There is a lot of construction around the restaurant. I would say carry-out is probably best (I can't remember but they may have had one or two small tables inside- maybe??). They are located right across the street from Guernseys (little plaza that has Jets Pizza). Yum, can't wait to go back!

If they heat them, they recommend eating them within 30-minutes. That's what we did - we ordered the six pack with three sauces to take home. We got the beef, pulled pork, chicken, humita, mushroom, and caprese. The empanadas are pretty big. They don't really need the sauce. Good flavor. They also sell pop, water, and juice. It's not a place I would go to regularly but I'd definitely order from them again.

When I saw the teasers that they were coming back I was excited for the opportunity and jumped on a reservation as soon as they were available. I'm happy to report the experience didn't disappoint! The atmosphere, food, and service were all awesome! Our server Anthony was warm, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions we had regarding menu items. Their menu is meant to share and that's exactly what my friend and I did. My bestie is pescatarian so we went towards veggie and fish items. To start we got the chips and caviar. The house made chips were yummy and seasoned and somehow with the dip weren't too salty. I think having them with a cocktail is good choice. For mains we landed the red snapper, which was cooked to perfection, the skin was so crispy. We also had the squash rigatoni which was so good, amazing flavors and textures. We were pretty satisfied at that point and knew we wanted to dessert, so we stopped there and got the pistachio tres leches, which was also yummy. Jaja would make a great date night or just a cute meet up with friends. I look forward to visiting again.

They had limited seating at a counter in front of the bakery. The staff were very friendly and our order came out quickly. The bakery itself seemed very bare. I asked a friend what I should get and he recommended the chorizo empanada and guava dessert. Unfortunately, at around noon, most of the desserts were not in stock, including the guava dessert, but I was able to get a chorizo empanada as well as one Columbiana empanada. I got these to-go to eat later at home. There was a bit of a wait, as it was lunchtime and likely filled with busy medical professionals coming from Metro Health across the street. The inside kind of reminds me of a dive bar - messy, with very busy staff. So my empanadas were $3.50 each and were smaller than I would expect for that price. They were also VERY greasy! My to-go container was absolutely soaked with grease. I did enjoy the taste of the empanadas although I couldn't tell which one was which. One supposedly had cilantro and onions but I couldn't tell. If I am in the area again and hungry, I'll pick up an empanada, but what I really want to try is that guava dessert or one of their absolutely MASSIVE slices of cake!

I was surprised when I went in that there were only a couple of customers leaving as I entered. I was greeted by Dewey at the counter who asked me if I have previously tried any Peruvian food and I answered I had not. He was kind and suggested a couple of his favorites to me which was very helpful and appreciated. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and a Mexican Coke. They had several photos underneath the entrees which was helpful for ordering and visualizing. I decided to sit at a bar stool which had a counter seat at the front window overlooking Main Street which was an interesting vantage point while eating. The food was served fairly quickly and the Lomo Saltado was delicious. The beef was very tasty and served with vegetables and rice and the flavors and spices were just right for my taste. I devoured this dish quickly, ate everything, and mentioned to Dewey that I didn't like that at all with a big smile and laugh as I was dropping off my spotless dirty dishes even though he mentioned I could just leave it. It was a nice surprise.

The Culantro Bowl is a great deal, the ají de gallina is great comfort food, and I really love the lomo saltado. I also always get either the jugo de maracuyá or chicha morada to drink. The ceviche was good, though the texture wasn't my favorite personally. I also wasn't a fan of the empanadas since they were sweeter than I'm used to. However, the plantains starter was quite good. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and comfortable, and the service has always been excellent. One of the main servers even remembers my name because I've been coming for so long. Overall, it's not the best Peruvian food I've ever had, but it gives me a nostalgic taste of Peru in Ann Arbor and has definitely become a staple for me. I'd also love to see papa a la huancaína added to the menu someday.

Service and atmosphere was great. We had a very attentive and helpful server that gave us recommendations and checked on us often. Elegant restaurant that has a nice and fancy vibe to it. Great for date nights and special occasions. We sampled and found really good tasting wines. Made note and will purchase those wines in the future for casual drinking at home. We started with the complimentary bread and butter. Bread has hot out of the oven and tasted fresh. Also very soft. A+ on the bread. Same with the crab cake for an appetizer. Very small portion of just 1 crab cake, but favor was everything you could want when ordering a crab cake. Moving into the entree is where I marked them down on food. The main course of the meal(Steak, Walleye, Scallops) were excellent for all parties of our table. The problem was the sides were very lacking. My red potatoes were undercooked and hard. They just seemed basic with no added flavors. My green beans were cooked properly, but it was steamed green beans with zero flavor. They were just plain. Same with the corn mix. The sides need more flavor whether it's coming from a seasoning or sauce. We finished our meal off with bread pudding. Didn't get a picture of this, but it was tasty. I try bread pudding at any restaurant that offers it and felt this was mostly a flavored bread with ice cream on it. Not much of the creamy pudding to be a real bread pudding. But it was good for what it was. Overall, I do recommend trying this place. Some flavors will be bland while others will be flavor packed.

The food on each occasion has been kind of blasé. The drinks have been better. Two of the three times, the service was lackluster for the price tag. I love the idea of it but not the execution.
