Confession. We only came here to watch Chelsea v Benfica. So did a few other folks. I naturally tried the fish & chips, which the chips were a bit undercooked. Didn't matter because I bury them in malt vinegar, anyway. I would've loved a better crunch off the fish batter. But everything was edible. My buddy Duncan really liked the bangers and mash. It's probably kicked back at most times. It has all the makings of a comfy pub. With a few extra folks in the room, the service seems to deteriorate. No matter. The whole scene wasn't working out. Being a soccer fan, I had to try this pub for one of the Euro matches. There is a bus stop within easy walking distance and plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, there are open and covered seating options and plenty of televisions. The food and atmosphere did not disappoint either. Service was great - even though it was crowded and noisy (there were cheers and groans) the wait staff were attentive and food and bev were served promptly. My burger and fries were good. Juicy burger and crunchy fries. My drink, a Radler (a German specialty in summer - beer mixed with a light sparkling flavored water) was perfect. My friends and I went to George & Dragon for trivia. Trivia was packed! It costs $2 to participate in trivia. The trivia was fun and the host was funny. If you want to sit inside during trivia make sure to arrive early. The waiters did a fanastic job keeping up with all of the orders and people they had to serve. Granted -- I came here the afternoon of the England loss. (Three hours after the match ended.) Maybe the staff had had a rough time earlier in the day. I'd never been here before so didn't know their "process." (Random staff standing around the bar with credit card devices to take your order.) But score - I was able to place an order. The woman didn't tell me I was supposed to wait for her to hand me my drink, so I approached the actual bar. There was some confusion on my part as to whether the Guinness placed about seven inches from my hand was mine. I started to reach for it and instead got snapped at by the actual bartender. Then, a different staff member picked up the same Guinness, asked if I ordered one, and then put the cup about nine inches from the other side of me. The bartender behind the bar came back and said the woman I ordered from would hand me my drink. But then the staff member who asked if I ordered a Guinness came back to me. I asked her if the drink sitting near me was mine and she said yes. Oi. Communication is key. There was none here. The only reason we went here was to watch the F1 race. Unfortunately, the ambience was quite dark and had an unpleasant smell. I hate to say it, but one of the servers looked a bit disheveled, which added to the overall vibe. The crowd felt older and not very inviting. THIS PLACE IS NOT DISABILITY FRIENDLY. DONT COME. Went here last night with some friends. One of whom has a medical condition. This flared up and he needed to put his head on the table. The bartender came out and told us that he needed to leave because he was drunk. We informed him that he had a medical condition and that he was fine but just needed some time because he couldn't move right at that moment. The bartender said that he didn't care and went back inside to play pool with his buddy, instead of hearing us out. This place is not disability friendly. read more

I came here for lunch recently and ordered their fish & chips. It came with large pieces of cod and crispy chips aka french fries. The fish tasted fresh and had a good crisp to it. The french fries taste like they are made in-house. My fiancé also ordered their chips and curry. The curry dip was very flavorful. I have also been to George and Dragon Pub for sporting events. The owner of the George and Dragon Pub frequently rents U-Haul trucks from our location here in Ballard, and always makes a point of bringing us fresh hot sandwiches! Today we were surprised with juicy grilled chicken sandwiches featuring pink onion, jalapeno, lettuce and tomato with an aioli that brings the whole sandwich together. We found ourselves wandering around the Fremont area on a Saturday afternoon and decided to try a local restaurant for lunch. I opened the yelp app, looked at what was closest and it led us here! It's a pub, it's an English pub with a fantastic menu. The scotch egg is to die for! It's a lot of food. I actually think it's too much food for the price. For a place that has a banner outside claiming to be "Seattle's soccer headquarters," I was extremely disappointed to find out that it doesn't apply to women's soccer. Last night all TVs had college football replays and sports center on during an NWSL playoff game. When I asked the bartender to change one of the TVs to the game, she had no idea what I was talking about and proceeded to change it to an MLS game replay. After explaining what it was and how to find it, they did manage to turn the game on. To be a soccer pub in Seattle, please make space for the women's game. At least make it part of staff training to know that a women's professional league exists. We deserve better. Do better. read more

The selection of drinks was fine. They are priced on par with other Seattle establishments, maybe slightly higher. Rude server. Any time I asked for anything, she would very visibly sigh. Not super appreciated. My group sat in the tent outside. It was fine, but doesn't handle weather very well as the tent itself is not tied down in certain areas. Not sure why this place has mixed reviews. The George is an unassuming English pub with really nice staff, simple and yummy food, and a decent assortment of drinks. (I was surprised that they had at least 5 different types of hard cider.) And, they're dog-friendly! We ordered the Bangers & Mash and the Chicken Curry, both of which were good. Nothing too fancy. Both my uncle and I loved the onion gravy (with bacon!) on the mash. They have a small assortment of board games available, and one pool table. They have a sizeable outdoor eating area with plenty of tables, too. And on-site parking. We went in on a Monday night to watch a replay of a soccer game. The place was pretty empty other than a bunch of regulars at the bar. The acoustics were surprisingly quiet, which was nice since we could actually have a conversation.
