We were struggling with potty training and intense whining during the night so we decided to give the board and train a try. And what a difference it made! She has had zero accidents since and sleeps through the night like a baby. Considering her young age I was impressed how many obedience commands Tanja taught her in such a short amount of time. I'm excited to keep up her training to bring her back for more advanced training when she's older. Not only did Rocky learn a ton of basics but my husband and I learned about how much our bad habits influence Rocky and his progress. I boarded Gus, my little pup, with Tanja over Christmas and she has done miracles with my little guy. Sent my 1yr old puppy to 2 week board and train and while she did show some positive training foundations for sit and stay during her time there, she came home more food aggressive than she had been prior and there was no improvement on the other things on our list (whining, come command, potty training). Unfortunately it seemed she was on her best behavior during training and didn't do the bad habits she does at home. I met Tanja a little over 2.5 years ago while she was an apprentice for a reputable dog trainer in Los Angeles who's classes I was attending weekly. I very quickly observed Tanja's calm and patient demeanor and noticed how fast dogs were responding to her commands. My German Shepherd was a rescue and he was and is extremely sensitive to harsh commands. The trainer used firm commands with corrections however it seems that his techniques are across the board regardless of their temperament or ability to learn and as a result my Shepherd would shut down. What I learned was how to be calm and patient and to give the dog a moment to understand what you're trying to convey/teach them and she has a very gentle way with her corrections. I found Tanja when I googled "German shepherd trainers" (though she works with all different breeds) after fostering a six-year-old white GSD who I quickly discovered is very anxious and reactive about other dogs. We met once, and she gave me some helpful techniques for starting to teach him to walk on a leash, and after I adopted him permanently, we started meeting weekly to slowly expose my dog to other dogs.
