Cocktail hour was underneath the tented area with multiple high top tables and one bar. The two bartenders were pretty quick getting drinks for everyone. I wasn't impressed by apps at cocktail hour. The best was the coconut shrimp. Otherwise there were veggies/cheese, feta and pineapple, bree puffed pastry and tomato basil and mozzarella. The ballroom was beautiful with a good sized dance floor. I enjoyed my filet mignon and my boyfriend got the chicken pillard. The staff once inside were super attentive. Overall, I'd recommend getting married here.

This man ruined my wedding…read more He was unprofessional, belligerent, drunk, and absolutely inappropriate. He played Gold Digger. At my wedding. The explicit version. With children in the room. He refused to turn down the volume of music during dinner, and refused to play any of the songs that I requested. Despite speaking with him prior to the wedding about what songs we wanted played during dinner and for dancing, spending hours filling out his extensive online worksheet listing "MUST PLAY", "WOULD LIKE PLAYED", and "DO NOT PLAY" songs, he played almost exclusively his own picks or songs on my DO NOT PLAY list. He told me during our conversation that he was good at reading the crowd, and would be able to play a good mix of songs that would keep people on the dance floor. I was mortified. His music drove 1/3rd of guests home, and another 1/3rd of my guests outside of the ballroom to escape his music. I tried my best to be on the dance floor despite the undanceable song choices (including 500 Miles?!?) and disco garbage. I am a dancer, and several of my guests are swing dancers. It was impossible to dance that night. What made things worse is that John Rzasa, THE DJ, kept trying to dance with me. He even tried to cut in on my husband, then got on the microphone and called my husband jealous because he wouldn't let THE DJ DANCE WITH HIS NEW BRIDE. I finally just left the dance floor because the songs were unbearable and the DJ wouldn't stop harassing me. I went outside to the concrete patio with the rest of my guests and danced with my swing dancer friends to songs we played on our cell phones. When I finally went back inside to get a drink, he was playing a song on my DO NOT PLAY list, trying to lead a line dance with a handful of reluctant guests. When he saw me come in, he rushed back to the microphone to say "Oops, the bride is back. This was on her do not play list!" while grinning. When he finally did play something that I had requested, he prefaced the song by saying "I will allow this, just this once" while glaring at me menacingly. At the end of the night, he cut off the music abruptly in the middle of the last song, and announced that the evening was over. He then tried to drunkenly embrace and kiss my guests who were leaving. My mother-in-law was horrified. It was a nightmarish experience. Unfortunately, the nightmare didn't end there. I emailed him to express my absolute horror at the evening. Ever since then, he has been non stop calling me and texting me almost exclusively between the hours of 11pm and 5am despite my multiple attempts to ask him to stop harassing me and to simply respond by email. I have had to block his number as he will not stop harassing me. I have since talked with several guests who were too embarrassed to say anything on the day of the wedding because they thought the terrible songs were requested by me. What was supposed to be a wonderful day of friends, family, good food, and dancing has become a terrible memory. I have almost no pictures or video of dancing because the dance floor was embarrassingly empty for almost the entire night. John has failed to respond to my emails. He has failed to offer any reparations for his drunken and inappropriate behavior. I only hope that by posting this review, he will never again have a chance to ruin someone's wedding.

I would definitely recommend using this company, BUT with some major caveats that I wish I had clarified. PROS: Very professional, responsive, reasonably priced, great website, MOSTLY followed our instructions that we wanted a DJ who was completely non-involved. We did not want the kind of DJ who bellows, "And nowwww, presenting for the verrrrry first time...put your hands together for MR. AND MRS. SMITH!!!!" In other words, we didn't want anyone who sounded like they could double as a radio DJ or a WWE announcer. We wanted someone who would quietly put songs on the stereo from the corner, and maybe say "If folks could please take their seats, dinner is about to be served." That's it. Evan did a GREAT job of this, except for during the cake cutting, when he took it upon himself to narrate the entire thing, which just made me cringe and whisper to my new husband "What is he doing?!?" It was distracting and tacky. CONS: The one thing we cared about most was having a DJ that would give us full control over the songs. Party Pro is perfect for this because you can create as much or little of your playlist as you want (re: you can create 100%, and we tried to). We used their website to create three playlists: "Dinner Music," "Must Plays," and "Would Likes," which are the lists the website prompts you with. (There is also a "Don't Play" list, to which we said "anything not on our other lists"). Evan did only play songs from our three lists, so that was good and as expected. However, apparently we also needed to be explicit about the fact that the songs on the "Must Play" list were higher priorities than the songs on the "Would Like" list. We weren't, because we thought this was very obvious from the titles of the lists (are we crazy there?!?). I also referred to these lists as "Tier 1" and "Tier 2" throughout my correspondence with Evan and Beth, so I thought that also made it clear. Not so much. Evan played many songs from the Tier 2 list before getting to all of the Tier 1 list, and as a result, many of the songs we had really, really cared about hearing were never played because there wasn't time. There was more than enough time for the whole Tier 1 list, but we had put extra songs on the Tier 2 list just for a buffer. It was very frustrating to hear Tier 2 songs before all the Tier 1 songs were played (actually, I think he ended up playing more Tier 2s, which really made me mad!). Ultimately, it was fine, because we had a dance-friendly crowd and, quite frankly, the Tier 2 songs were still good enough to keep everyone on the dance floor the whole night. So from that angle, Evan was great. But we had put some very danceable songs on our Tier 1 list that also had great sentimental value, and many of these were sorely missed by my husband and me. I will confess this is my only regret about our wedding (not a huge one, but a regret nonetheless). Looking back, I really think we were clear enough in our prep meeting about what we wanted, but apparently not--too late for us, but not for you. : ) All of that being said, I would still recommend Evan and Party Pro...just make sure you spell everything out six ways from Sunday.

My only beef about the whole experience was that they used Stash tea bags for the afternoon tea. I mean anyone could buy those tea from the supermarkets. If you go to a place designated for afternoon tea, you would expect at least some loose leaf teas allowing the customers to smell, appreciate, and enjoy all the different tea flavors. If they had loose leaf tea, it would elevate the whole experience ten fold. Also, they had some sort of punch on the side, with no explanation and the punch pitcher did not work so guests couldn't really enjoy it until the very end. The house can host two parties, one on the second floor and the other one on the main floor. The owners live in the same building. There are plenty of parking at the house and also across the street because the owners own that too.

When it came time to move into the next room for brunch, one of the two waiters working with us that day made the announcement and helped to guide everyone to their tables. The tables were set up beautifully! We chose to have the "mismatched tea cups" instead of the white ones and every guest commented how adorable and unique they were. The waiters brought a box of assorted tea bags over for each person to choose and everyone loved it! Originally, I planned to use the silk flowers as the centerpieces for the tables, but we upgraded to fresh cut. Even the silk flowers were beautiful and elegant- Corrine has beautiful taste in every piece of decor. Throughout the entire event everyone kept asking how I found out about The Tiffany Juliet House. Everyone was so impressed with the amazing service, the attention to detail ( the light fixtures, the carpet, the window treatments, molding- everything is beautiful inside). Around this time last year, my then fiancé/now husband and I had a decent amount of our wedding planned and booked, but I was starting to stress about the schedule and how we'd be able to handle everything the day of. We decided to get married at Edgerton Park in New Haven because it's across the street from our first apartment together, and it's very special to us. We rented the carriage house, which has a bathroom and some usable space inside, but because it's not a banquet hall kind of venue, we had to bring everything else in ourselves. We wanted our wedding to be fun and feel like a festival at our favorite park, so we rented a big tent and had food trucks instead of standard catering. One day, while walking our dog through the park and scoping out another wedding for ideas, we saw a bride putting flowers on tables and directing food trucks where to go. My husband and I knew that I could not do this the day of our wedding - that's when we should be getting ready and taking pictures - so we started looking into hiring a day of coordinator. Some friends of ours had ESTOccasions plan their wedding, so I asked them about it, and they could not say enough good things about Kia. They said that in the end, she felt like their friend, not just their wedding planner, and by the time our wedding came around, I felt the same way. Kia and her team were amazing from the beginning. One of the first things she asked was, what was I stressed about. It was great to channel what I was worried about into a plan, and Kia had a solution for everything. We went with the day of coordination package, but this included more than just coordinating the day (which they did impeccably). We also got planning meetings, a walk-through of our ceremony and reception area, put in touch with a second food truck and help planning our menu, and several emails and phone calls, including a phone call the day before our wedding when I had a slight meltdown about a potential issue with our tent rental, which ended up working out just fine. The walk-through alone was worth the package price. My husband and I had been struggling with where to have the ceremony in this park we went to almost every day, and Kia figured out the perfect spot right away. We had a natural flow from ceremony to reception, and Kia also found the best spots to put all of our food trucks (we ended up having the Naples Pizza truck, Lizzie's Curbside, the Mobile Pub, and Elm City Kettle Corn, and that's not including our wedding cupcakes from Sweet Mary's in New Haven and coolers of water and seltzer.) Kia and her team were there bright and early to set up the ceremony site and reception decorations, and everything was perfect. They were also there to bring us water when we were taking pictures (it was a hot June day), and they even handled our dog during pictures so that our little best friend could be in some of them. They were the point of contact for all of our vendors, and they made sure everything ran smoothly. They let us know when it would be a good time to cut the cake, when it made sense to do the father/daughter dance, and when it was the perfect time for my brother's band, the Funky Dawgz Brass Band, to top the party off. They packed up our leftover cupcakes and got everything set for us to pick up in the morning, and they were always there with drinks for me and my husband when we needed them. Our wedding was really the best day ever, and we owe a lot of that to Kia and her team.
