I was really impressed by my experience here. I got a salad + chicken (really generous protein portion), a side of asparagus, and a brownie sundae. The food was so good I ate every bite. The service was quick and attentive. The dining room itself was small and noisy, but cozy. Usually that would be enough to turn me off (I hate small tops packed next to one another and a noisy atmosphere), but it didn't ruin the meal and I'd definitely go back. We chose to sit in the main room by the large fireplace, though sadly the fireplace wasn't operating that night. I've been told the main dining room with the central fireplace is the best spot in the house! The food was good, and we shared a starter of pesto Mac and cheese for the table. The macaroni was super creamy and the pesto flavor complemented it well. For a main entree, I chose the fish and chips, which was cooked well, served with plenty of fries. The white martini was nice, a change up from a traditional cosmo but my favorite beverage had to be the Mulled Cider with rum. Gingerman is a local favorite. Whether it's a cold winter day or a hot summer night you can't go wrong. In the winter they have an amazing cheese fondue ! I especially love the pesto Mac and cheese, pretzel with beer cheese dip and their mussels are sublime. Stopped into The Ginger Man for lunch. My friend and I ordered Bloody Mary's and requested them to be extra spicy. They were not, nor did they have the traditional olive garnish. We ordered the buffalo wings well done and they were very good. We then ordered the chicken sandwich and flatbread margarita. The menu clearly said the flatbread was made with fresh mozzarella and basil. When the bartender brought it to us, I asked where the basil was and he said it was in the sauce. That was a ridiculous answer as the menu clearly stated it came with fresh basil and the mozzarella was not fresh either. It wAs as tasty as an Ellios frozen pizza. The bartender should have checked with the kitchen, he did not. The chicken sandwich was dry and also lacking fresh mozzarella and the aioli the menu said it had. From the outside Ginger man looks like any typical bar. It has a normal bar awning and doesn't look like much. Right when you walk in that changes. This is like stepping back in time to a late 1800's bar/restaurant. It is located right in the heart of Greenwich on the avenue. There is a cool fireplace in the dining area in the back and a cozy vibr to it overall. As for the food, the Kale salad was small almost like a side so if you are hungry order something else with it. The stir fry cauliflower appetizer was solid. It had a nice sauce to it. This places takes you back in time. Greenwich has these types of places and I am glad I found it. It isn't a cheap lunch but it is delicious. I would recommend it if you looking for a unique place for lunch. read more

Ordered some takeout food from here and it was good. You can tell they're taking all the right precautions during a pandemic. Masks, spacing people out while eating, Lysol, antibacterial gel etc We ordered the Turkey chili $14, a bit steep for a smaller portion but with that being said, it was very good. Just on the small side. A kids chix and fries. Very good. Tasty. Good quality chicken. Fish and chips- absolutely incredible. They forgot the malt vinegar I asked for it 2x. All good very good. We liked this place A LOT. It was decided that rather than order entrees, we ordered a few appys instead. We ordered the pesto macaroni which was 100%, a big soft pretzel and the beef emanadas - all were great. We're New Yorkers, so we didn't look like the CT people much (no vests from Vineyard Vines or Patagonia) - but our fellow patrons that night seemed to be wholesome family people. This pub is definitely an important landmark on Greenwich Avenue because it probably has the best beer selection around and the swankiest decor. With that said, the Gingerman in NYC has a lot more character and a LOT more beers. The crowd at about 6pm on a Tuesday was older men meeting up after work. Not knocking men in any way - just surprised there were not more women. The bartender was prompt but tossed the beer menu at me even though he wasn't that busy. (Was I coming off as an obnoxious New Yorker?) Anyway, I didn't stay too long but would recommend the Gingerman brew. Maybe if I wasn't putting the Greenwich Gingerman up against the Murray Hill one, I would have given it a higher rating. read more

I came here for a happy hour the other week and enjoyed it. It has a great, relaxed vibe unlike a handful of the other bars in the downtown Greenwich area. We started with some beers and apps. We got the margarita flatbread, the quesadilla, and the guac. The quesadilla was the best of these three but the margarita flatbread is very good as well. I had the Lamb Reuben. It should be a crime to call this a Reuben sandwich (no rye bread, no Swiss cheese, no sauerkraut, questionable Thousand Island dressing). We also ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips. These were okay, but overall, this is not a place I would come back to for the food. Almost choking on my dry "Reuben" gave me a flashback to realize that I had eaten here in pre-Covid days -- and the food wasn't good then either. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. The place was busy but not chaotic. One seated we placed our orders and our appetizers came out fairly quickly and a few minutes later our meals. I had to steak and eggs and let me tell you it was amazing! I ordered the steak medium and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My mother had eggs and avocado toast and she loved it. I enjoy going to Ginger Man. The food variety and quality for an Irish pub is very good (I highly recommend the grilled octopus!). The food and drink menu is fairly priced considering the location on Greenwich Ave. It feels very cozy inside with natural wood all around. Classic Irish pub right on the Ave. you may think it a little out of place for the posh area, but it's a lovely, genuine experience. Shabby chic may be the correct term but it's as close to authentic as you'll get in Thai part of town. They pour a nice pint of Guinness, even if they do charge $9 for it. read more

The Ginger Man is quickly becoming my favorite spot since recently moving to the area. A few years ago I had been to the location in NYC and completely forgot about it until someone suggested trying out this Greenwich location when I was looking around for a good beer selection. The Ginger Man is located right on the main street of Greenwich, its a cozy restaurant and bar with a fireplace in the back, tons of tables with booths and a large bar area for drinks and dining. The first time I came here my fiancé and I just had drinks, we enjoyed some of the amazing rotating craft beer selection while lounging on the couches near the front, honestly these couches are so comfortable we ended up staying for three rounds - we didn't want to leave! Over our next few visits we have enjoyed both drinks and food and found everything to be fantastic. The staff is so friendly, attentive and make you feel at home. I love the 'local' vibes in this spot, you can tell people frequently come here, bring family and friends and it just bring a very pleasant environment all around. I've been coming to Ginger Man for almost three years now and I have never been treated with such discrimination. We came in to have a few drinks and were harassed by the GM Stephen who threatened to call the police on me and my wife unless we left, and the best part is, he couldn't give me a reason WHY we were being asked to leave. He touched my wife's arm and then tried to justify his reasons being because we made his staff "uncomfortable"... Mind you, all we were doing was sitting down and enjoying a glass of wine and a beer. Some of the staff knows us because we frequent the location and are generally treated great by staff, people coming up and saying "Hi, how are you?" to me and my wife is somehow making THEM "uncomfortable"? He then storms off upstairs after we tell him we aren't leaving because we've done nothing wrong, and continues to threaten he's calling the police. We finished our drinks and ordered another round, no police ever showed up. I'm not sure what this guy actually does because he was never downstairs or on the restaurant floor at any time other than to harass us. We had already been there for 15 minutes minding our business so anyone's guess is as good as mine. This trip will be my last to this establishment. read more

My wife and I came to Greenwich for the weekend and decided to try this place for lunch randomly when walking by. My wife enjoyed The Ginger Man burger. Although, she asked for pepper Jack cheese and mushrooms, but didn't get them, yet we were charged. It was only .75 cents so we didn't mention it. I decided to try the Nashville Hot Chicken. I wish I hadn't. It wasn't at all as expected. Being called Nashville hot chicken, by definition, I expected maybe a crunchy floured and deep fried buttermilk chicken that had been marinated in spices with a thick spicy sauce. Instead, it was a thin wet and drippy buffalo sauced chicken. It was breaded with bread crumbs, but not crunchy at all due to the sauce. Calling it a Buffalo chicken sandwich would've been more accurate. Pretty disappointing. The staff however was very nice and the ambience is relaxing. read more

But on my day off I came here to enjoy some nice food, a nice beer and to get a few works items squared away in my laptop. (Monday is my Sunday since I work weekens.) While Ginger Man has a great WiFi network, that network has no internet. I asked if maybe they should flip the router that brings the network it's internet access and I'm met with blank stares. I saw sooo many people getting work down and eating lunch up at Sweet Green and thought to myself, "I'd like to do the same, only at a place that feels like home, the Ginger Man." So disappointing. Let me start by by saying.... Ozzie is a great bartender. He deserves more stars. I'm basing the 2 stars on the Salmon BLT sandwich. I was craving this sandwich that I had many months ago. This is the only sandwich I have ever paid $18.00 for. Believe it or not, used to be worth it. My husband and I both thought it surprisingly lived up to the high price (the first time), and worth every penny. Again... $18.00 worth. It was toasted and the salmon, bacon, and avocado, burst in my mouth. This time, not even worth half. I was so hungry I ate the first half. The side I ate had much less than the other half. It had no bacon. No avocado. The other side did at least. I promise the picture is real. I think it is terrible when a restaurant has a really good thing going and then tries to cut corners and save money. I understand food costs going up but, a restaurant can't offer a decent sandwich, don't. I'll say it again.... Especially at $18.00. A complete rip off. read more

The Ginger Man was a nice location for a company dinner. It was not my favorite restaurant, but I enjoyed my dinner. This place has a very pleasant atmosphere. It looks somewhat fancy, but not enough to make feel like you need to be wearing a formal suit. My first glance at the menu was impressive. I was not expecting so see the beer selection they offered and was very pleasantly surprised. We shared our appetizers and there were too many to list. I can say they were all of great quality; you can't go wrong. My personal favorite was the crab cake. I ordered a steak for my entree but unfortunately it was overcooked. I was fairly disappointed as the dinner was progressing well despite the slow service. For dessert I ate the chocolate decadence which essentially is a cold lava cake. I enjoyed it. Like I mentioned before, the service was pretty slow. Maybe it can be chalked up to the size of our party. Hopefully I will be able to dine here again and know for sure. read more

Love this spot in Greenwich! Charming little pub with great food and a huge drink selection. Food-wise, they have something for everyone. I have tried two of their salads and have been impressed by their size and variety. Tonight I tried the chopped salad which I would very highly recommend!
