Hands down my favorite bar in the area. Bartenders are fun, they make their drinks nice and strong, and they always have some deals on drinks depending on the day of the week. Free pool on Wednesdays, Karaoke on Tuesday and Sunday. You know it's a great place when the bar is packed on a random weeknight. It can get loud in here, but everyone knows everyone. I love this place! It really is a hidden gem in Downey. It's located in a strip mall and looks a little sketchy from the street, but it's a pleasant surprise once inside! They have different drink specials every day of the week and very friendly staff! You can expect karaoke during the week and a great mix of music on weekends. Saturdays they make room for dancing, and it definitely gets packed so be prepared to wait for your drinks. The crowd comprises of mostly locals between early 20s and early 30s. Bathrooms are nice and always clean. If you're in Downey, it's definitely worth your time to stop and check the place out. I recommend trying the Glencumber :) I would give it one more star if they had dancing on Fridays as well! read more

My review for the glen is long over due! I must confess that it is probably the more enjoyable bar in Downey. I've been going to the glen for about a year now, so I can't say I've seen it before its recent remodeling but from what I heard it was a bit of a crap hole. For being a dive bar it looks good and it's certainly clean. Parking is the only problem during the weekends because its located in a small strip mall. Other than that everything is usually cool and chill here. You get a mix of old and young people, certain nights it could be different though. The juke box has good music but they've also got a dj on the weekends, don't know how often but there was one on my last two visits. Drinks are moderately cheap and the staff is cool, you'll have a tough time getting their attention sometimes because it does get a little crowded from time to time. Like I said its most definitely becoming one of the better spots in Downey. They also started accepting credit cards now. Don't be afraid to try this place out, security is alert making sure no one gets out of hand. read more

I have never met a greater staff then the ones here at The Glen. Been coming here for sometime and I have to admit everyone there is amazing. I love the variety of spirits they have as well as the many bartenders. Never a dull bunch of people I absolutely love it here. They make it feel like you're the only one At nights it does get pretty crowded but the bartenders do their best to get everyone's order. I was a fan of this place until last night. I was standing at the bar with my money in my hand for about ten minutes with no acknowledgement whatsoever. There was about two other people who got served that were standing next to me. After that happened I just put my money back in my wallet and bailed. There were three bartenders and it wasn't even crazy packed. It was busy, but not to the point where I should have gotten unnoticed especially being right in front of and in plain sight. The bar is decent since It got re done but the bartenders were horrible. There was 3 there and they sat there drinking and talking to their friends. I had to speak up and say "hello, I've been standing here a while, can I get a drink?" And on top of that it took 30 min to get their attention to close out the tab. Forget the DB Lounge, it's free to get in here! Looks like a dive bar but once inside there's a fun, lively crowd. Lots of youngins (20's and 30's) too! Bring your Mom, bring your Dad, bring anyone for a drink and music. Sundays and Tuesdays are the best because of the karaoke! A bunch of these singers are actually pretty good. Still rating it 2-stars because some of the bartenders (Natalie, Johnny, Carlos and Karina) are good peeps, but other than that can't say much else positive about the staff. Drink specials are good. This place is amazing with amazing people. I was reading the others review they wrote. I think some of them just are haters from other local bars. The Bartenders are all skilled and know what drinks to make. They are called The Professionals. I have gone there on slow and busy days and I have already made this My Official Bar to hang out, have a drink or two, meet new friends and The most important thing The best pool table and the best ladies restroom ever. The bathroom is always clean. The city of Downey has a lot of bars, but this bar tops it all. Very casual. Come on down for Happy Hour. This place is my stop on the way home for a chilled beer. Every bar I go to I make sure they know The Glen. Again The best bartenders and drinks. Owners are nice and great to mingle to as well. Went here for the first time on a Sunday and had a blast! I like that there's people of all ages, karaoke, and good stiff drinks.

This place is always dead and no girls there. Its all dudes. They need to promote that bar more if they wanna get new people in there. Other than that issue its nice in there. Thats about it.. Ive come here a couple times and generally have a good time. The bartenders are nice and try to get the drinks out asap and theyre made well. The other night I went with my wife and a couple friends and the security took out a guy that basically dropped all the drinks at our table. My wife simply asked for new drinks but the security guard was a jerk. I was outside the whole time this was happening and didn't find out till later. I think the security guard was just trying to be intimidating to my wife because I doubt he would've acted the same way with me. My wife ended up telling the bartender and he was a complete gentleman. Very good guy that saw what happened and made the situation right. read more

I like this place and the music plus environment is fun. The bar tenders needs some customer service classes or just new bar tenders. I get it "tipsy people are annoying" but when you're sober and the bar tender ignores you or gives you attitude and you just got there then there's a problem. Even after numerous drinks and tips nothing changed then it's time to reevaluate the staff. J/s there's other places fairly close (food for thought). read more

Carlos took great care of me. He had a lot of great recommendations and makes really good drinks. Very attentive during my visit and never waited for a drink. Great environment with karaoke nights and pool nights. I been looking for a bar with a pool table and this place is great. Guaranteed to have a great time. Maybe I came the wrong night but it was a Saturday night and the people there were a little older than my friend and I so we were kind of expecting a younger crowd. Nothing wrong with that though. The bar tenders are super sweet and friendly, the bouncer Jose is amazing! Makes sure the women that go there don't get harassed. The only thing I would say needs some help is the DJ.
