Dallas is known for its great music scene. Though I'm not a drinker myself, I'm usually good for one drink at a dive bar, sometimes none. I go for the music. Many times I have been at the Goat I have seen several patrons over served to a dangerous point. My observations and personal experiences here are not colored by my own intoxication, but my experience as TABC certified server does play into how I judge a bartender/bar. Any night of the week one can find a great jam in any area of the metroplex. I suggest revelers go to ANY OTHER VENUE. If you do choose the Goat, guard your drink well. No, its not the patrons drugging your drink. It is the bartender. As if that isn't enough to warn you, you can also expect to have your private bits groped by the drunken barback (this is sexual assault)or manhandled by the bouncer. Even if you choose to inform management they will not call you back, or worse, management and owner will blame you if there is an issue. If you are looking for fun people, great music and well priced drinks go somewhere else. If you are looking to be drugged and assaulted by bar employees head to the Goat. read more

I've been stopping by this place a few times because people seems friendly, but for the past two times (the reason I'm writing this review) STAFF and some regular customers have become hostile, as in completely ignoring me at the bar for 5 minutes until I raised my hand for another minute, and once I got the attention of the bar tender which she was just chatting to some dude that didn't stop staring at me like if I was some alien just getting off a UFO. This was the most uncomfortable situation because I didn't know if I was doing something wrong some how. After ordering a beer and staying there for 5 minutes I saw a couple coming in and they got the same treatment, I guess this place is some sort of gang only spot of some sort. Local dive bar with great live bands on weekends, blues jams on Mon and Thurs, ladies night and delta blues on Tues, and karaoke on Wed and Sun. Excellent pizza next door and tacos across the street. The best live music you will find in Dallas with no cover and free parking, people from all walks of life from 21 to all ages having a great time. Open 7a-2a (sun open 12p). No clue what the "Ghost L" person is talking about racism in "his" August 3 review, that's beyond absurd. read more

This dive bar seems like a staple in east Dallas- but if it is, that's a sad, sad state for our amazing community. Go anywhere but here. The staff borders on criminal the way they treated me! The entire staff tried to harass me and belittle me. I was alone and if they'd had stones - I think they'd have stoned me to death! Horrible, disgusting, trashy staff. Let's say diverse haha I still can't decide if I enjoyed being there or not either haha, I guess being new to the city makes it less appealing, this place would be awesome if you were a regular or had a bunch of friends there. Your Karaoke Lady is completely out of control...Drunk & Disrespectful on the job..Not Professional at all .I love The Goat but she is just too much of an smart ass. Wow! Just an awesome hole in the wall dive bar that rocks. I can't believe this little neighborhood bar has eluded me. Cool bar, I like going there. If you do go, try going earlier if you bring a date. Later it's just a bunch of drunk skeezballs trying to hit on your date. Other than that music is good. read more

Definitely an older crowd. Live Music is so loud you can't hear anything. Drinks are dirt cheap though, so just get drunk enough to not care is the name of the game. read more
