This place is awesome! We first visited a couple weeks ago and we've been back 6 times! The food is off the charts good. Especially their meatloaf! I think it's the best meatloaf I've ever had. They have a dive bar ambiance, the kind of place where it's the same regulars nearly every time you visit. The staff is great, awesome conversation and humor. Cock, & Bull is one of the places you go for a friendly cocktail, good food, master level conversation, or your fix of the local loquacious stars! Don't go expecting a posh environment, because it's definitely not that, but Christina, Craig, Birdie and Kirsten's amazing service makes up for the lack of elegant decor. I've been driving past this place for many years, not realizing it was even there. The menu is typical of a bar & grill but here, the taste of the food was much better than average! The bartender is excellent! There were very interesting people in there, including nice, looking ("well-to-do") executives getting a beer after some tennis ... and attractive ladies (that I would have loved to chat with, if I could have summoned enough courage, ha!) Had a great time at C&B on Monday, 8/21/2023. Craig was an awesome host and kept us updated on our food order.

Have been here before. They raised prices a lot over time. Hotdogs. $10. Burger 12 and up. Blue Plate special and nothing special, 8$. Service is slow. Our food was not good and it was very loud. The worst part though is that it is really dirty. I saw that the table for example was black and brown, but when I rubbed the black with my fingernail, I had some filth under my nail and the lighter brown came through. The glass on the wall shows a lot of dirt as well. read more

I ordered the one that had the gorgonzola cheese, and I really think I ruined it by putting mustard on it. It wasn't that great. Still hit the spot, though. I like that there was fruit, nuts, and tons of crackers. I like that you can add peppered salami. This was substantial. I really like cheese. I can tell when someone skimps on a board. I have had most of the cheese boards in the area and this one is my favorite. Service is hit or miss. It may take a while for your food to come out, but it will be worth it. Parking is also hit or miss. There's parking right in front if you are lucky, but there's also parking around back, though that fills up as well. read more

I've been to lots of these back in the Windy City, but from my understanding there's not as many in Chicago. While the divey atmosphere is fun and the games look appealing (bowling video game anyone?) what i really loved about this bar was the owner's (hi Shaun!) passion about his bar and the Lakewood area. Action Jackson, I want to have your babies. I absolutely love the atmosphere at Cock and Bull, from the knight standing guard at the door to the cozy corners of the booths. The bartenders and waitstaff are super friendly and immediately make you feel at home. The drinks are not too strong, but by no means weak, and constantly flowing. This has definitely become one of my favorite late night dinner spots as they serve a full menu of deliciosity until closing time. Cock and Bull serves up what is now my favorite grilled cheese in all of Dallas. The Action Jackson Grilled Cheese is made by tiny baby cherub hands in heaven and toasted to perfection by the Devil's minions and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise! Avocado and tomato smothered in your choice of cheeses (I recommend cheddar and provolone for maximum melty goodness) and topped with chili aioli always mysteriously disappears from my plate within just a few minutes of arrival. The herb roasted potatoes that come with are pretty darn tasty, too. There are daily specials noted on the chalkboard in the back of the bar and, from what I've seen, are quite popular. Every Sunday, Cock and Bull serves up their ever desirable "Blue Plate Specials" for $6; get there early because they tend to run out. Although the small bar fills up quickly, if you're patient enough and don't have a large group, you usually will not have much of a problem getting a seat. You can choose from one of the long list of beers that are available, a glass of wine, a glass of good scotch or even one of the best Moscow Mules and Old Fashioned! If you live anywhere in the Lakewood community, you realize that the Cock & Bull menu is anything from average. They boast some of the best food that you'll ever see in a pub. It's everything from a wonderful cut of Filet to the best mussels that you'll taste west of the Rocky Mountains. And there's plenty on the menu for vegetarians. For all you cheese lovers, they have one of the largest selections of cheese in the Dallas area. Order a cheese plate and a glass of wine. As you can see from some of the pictures I've posted, the choices are vast! Cock & Bull offers 2 things that will surprise you. They offer a brunch menu on Saturday & Sunday afternoons. They also have a weekly blue plate special on Sunday evenings. The blue plate is only $7 and it changes every week. Went an event which was catered by Cock and Bull. I didn't find out what the actual items were, but I am using the menu as a guide...The spinach artichoke beggar's purse was really good, i love the crispy and savory phyllo dough. The mini beef wellingtons (i don't see it on the menu) were really flavorful. The mini crab cakes were only so so, a little dry and I didn't care for the seasoning. The menu has a Texas spiced Crab Cake, not sure if it was the same think, but minaturized. They also brought a delicious white cake with a light cream cheese filling and topped with mixed berries..it was delicious! Not to sweet, perfectly moist and mmmmmm I want another piece. I am sad to hear that the actual place is so smoky though! The menu (and Nico) also talks about a weekend brunch which may be good reason to check it out. read more

I was really looking forward to this place but was a bit disappointed. There really wasnt one major flaw with this one but many small things that led to the three star rating. It's a small place. About seven bar seats and twelve or so tape tops. We arrived around five thirty, they open at five, and the bar was filled up already, not hard to do. One server/bar tender for the entire place which was mostly filled up. It took five minutes till the server came to our table to take our order. We ordered some drinks and and two apps. The apps were the scallop gratin and the jimmys sausage and pasta. The scallops were two dimensional just tasting of cream and bread crumbswith a mild flavor of the scallop coming through. Not very delicious. The pasta was dry and not very tender and the sausage was very dry like the whole dish had just sat under a heat lamp for ten minutes. The average menu price is about $20. You would expect the kitchen to be more on point with those kind of prices. Shortly after we arrived it was standing room only and through the whole meal we had to deal with patrons standing over our shoulders hoping we would finish up and leave already. Not really a great way to spend an evening. All in all I would probably put up with this place a little more if I lived close enough or if they were open for lunch, they are not, but I'm not going out of my way for it again. read more

First time here. It is a "one of a kind" Dallas dive. Get ready. When you walk in it will take some time for your eyes to adjust to the total lack of light. The darkest bar I've seen in years but that adds volumes to the delightful ambience. Customers are great too. No graffiti in the bathroom. Instead it was written on a poster that is surely replaced regularly because it's held up by push pins. Vanessa is a professional bartender. Bloody Mary was excellent as was her attention and conversation. I don't go to this area often but you can be certain I will return to the "Cock & Bull". It isn't as high end as Trinity Hall, but it is still a good value. I got a Lakewood Temptress and a chicken quesadilla. A friend of mine got the mussels. They were good, but be careful.
