I'm an early childhood educator and have taught lower elementary and Headstart for for 8 years. Before I was an educator I was in private childcare for 7. I now present to educators across TX on social emotional skills in children. I'm saying this for two reasons- one, because my career has mad me EXTREMELY picky about who I trust my child with. And two- because I have witnessed good and bad teachers and facilities both as an educator AND a mom. My son goes to Goddard full time in the summer. I've been incredibly impressed by the staff's ability to be both professional and personable at the same time. My son has ADHD, along with a few gross motor delays- and can be a handful. His teachers understand what is developmentally appropriate behavior, and how to support his growth moving forward. This has been rare for us and is appreciated in educators working with my son. He is constantly engaged and happy when I pick him up. The teachers are always monitoring and engaged with the children when I arrive. And their photos are a treat! I'm not sure what the enrollment is like in the school year, but for my son, his class numbers seem really low. I am thankful to have found a place I trust my son to be in. When I was just a few months pregnant, I made a spreadsheet of local daycares in anticipation for enrolling my son after my maternity leave ended. After calling over a dozen daycares in the area, only two stood out as worthy of a visit. Our visit at the first daycare was fine enough, but after we left the second daycare - The Goddard School - I immediately drove home and filled out the paperwork to get my still-in-utero son enrolled. I haven't had a single regret since my son started as a 3-month-old. He's 22 months now and can count to 10, name basic shapes and colors, and make sounds for countless animals. He cleans up like a champ and says please and thank you. He loves books and spends most of his time at home reading. I won't give Goddard ALL the credit - I do some things as his parent, of course - but it's a relief knowing that they're teaching him the same concepts and reenforcing the manners we practice at home. Like many daycares nowadays, they do send out updates on each child's day via an app, so at the end of the day I can see what my son ate, how long he napped, when his diaper was changed, the activities he participated in, and a few photos of what he did. And I love that they teach community involvement by participating in programs such as Fill The Bus and the ACO Food Drive. They also have monthly Parents' Night Out and frequent cookouts and festivals. The school is always clean and one of the two owners are on-site the entire time the school is open. We just moved to the area from Austin. My daughter was in a couple of different daycares the first 3 years of her life. This place is a parents' dream. In the past, communication with my daughter's teachers has been very difficult. I never really knew what she was eating or learning about or how to reinforce new information at home. I only knew how she was behaving when there was some sort of write up or incident report. I would show up to pick her up and have questions that were very difficult to get answered because the closers were not let in on what happened during the day. I felt like we were constantly in trouble or being judged or having behavior issues. The Goddard School has been the total opposite. I get reports every single day of what her class did for the day, what they are learning, why it's important for their development, and specific goals in mind that align with their tasks. I get pictures of her in that report showing different activities she engaged in, such as rock climbing, painting, balance beams, basketball... what she ate, how much. Some of the pictures are downloadable, as they are just of her. Group pictures are not, so as to respect the privacy of the other families and children. I try to get her in early when I can so we can take full advantage of the morning learning time as well as the afternoon fun time, but as a single mom taking night classes, sometimes I am in class almost as soon as I pick her up and by the time I am finished, it's bed time... so the days following, I prefer to spend a little extra time with my daughter in the mornings before dropping her off. I understand children thrive off of routine, but that has been kind of our routine, and I've gotten some backlash from her previous daycares and felt like I have to explain myself or like we were disrupting. We have never been made to feel that way here and it makes a world of difference. My daughter is happy and thriving and excited to go to school and to learn. My only wish is that we had moved here and started her at the Goddard School sooner. You will not find a better place for your little ones, at such a reasonable price, and with such a kind and intelligent family as the Snowman family. I hope it's ok that I share a couple of screenshots of a typical day's report here, but I just want anyone that's looking at enrolling their child here to get the full idea of what they can expect because I'm so impressed. read more

I have 2 children that have been attending Goddard, and we are in love with it. We were previously in a Primrose, which we also loved, but feel Goddard is a more loving and less formal setting for our young children. They have learned so much since joining the Goddard School, and all of the teachers and office staff have been incredibly kind and nurturing. My children will be here until we physically can't drive the distance anymore! read more

On a week looking at schools this was the last one and I am so Happy that I did! Amanda and Cindy are great. They answered my question and I loved the location. I love how the kids liked happy. They have a nice building for kids. They have an indoor gym and nice outside play areas. I started my 2two year old (he will be at the end of November) in the preschool 1 program and he loves it. Since he started here he counts to twentyand is pointing out colors. He went from a quiet boy to really talking so much more. He also recognizing his name and with help spell it out. He is doing so good we moved him from three half days to three whole days. He seems to enjoy the time with his teacher and other students. They have great things for the whole family like the fall festival and the fourth of July. They have different things for in school with pajama day or crazy hair day. My favorite thing is the parent night out (pno)! That was fun and amazing. Little man seemed to really enjoy it and he didn't want to go until after the movie. We have been there one month and I would say this is the best place to go. I am beyond happy we found such a wonderful place! read more

Our family absolutely loves the Goddard School in Allen. We drive all the way from Frisco to bring our two children! Whenever we take our three-year-old son and five-year-old daughter in the mornings, they are eager as we arrive to join in the activities and greet the other students and their teachers. The teachers are wonderful and always amiably welcome our children with a smile each and every time. The communication between the school and home is very detailed and dependable, both between the Tadpoles emails and from the teachers themselves when I arrive to pick up our kids in the afternoon. They extensively describe all of the activities the kids participated in and all of the learning objectives for that day across a wide variety of subject areas. Management and the owners are terrific people as well. They make you feel like family the second you walk in the door. They themselves are very involved with the children over the course of they day also, going above and beyond their duties and tasks in the front offices and frequently stopping by in the classrooms and on the playground to visit and play with the kids. John, Amanda, and Cindy are amazing people! This school is definitely the best of the best, and I as a teacher myself would recommend it to anyone searching for an educational, emotionally supportive, and enjoyable environment for their own children. I don't leave negative reviews lightly, so for any interested parents, I'm leaving a rather lengthy review below for your consideration. When my child is basically *not fed* during the day, they're fortunate that 1 star is the minimum... We had two children, around 3 and 5, in this school for only a few weeks and experienced multiple problems. After two "potty accidents" with my child, that has never had an accident, within a couple hours, we questioned the teachers about what happened and were told they "weren't sure," because there was absolutely zero communication between the morning/lunch teachers and the late afternoon ones. We discussed this with the appropriate staff and were told that the staff member "just needed to get a personality" and "stop being so shy", as well as a comment that things were "different" during the summer. All we were wanting was reassurance that there would be some form of communication and transition when teachers leave for the day and are replaced by new ones, not excuses. Their food situation is strange, at best. They bring in outside meals, which are extra, with the option to bring in your own lunch. I have a picky eater, so we packed some of her favorite foods the second week and realized they weren't heating them up (i.e. cold taco meat for tacos, etc.) - we were OK with this, and chalked it up to being unreasonable to heat something up for every child, so we purchased a Thermos to keep food warm on the days she wouldn't eat the outside food. Since we sent food two days in a row, the teachers told our daughter she "couldn't eat the same thing two days in a row" and refused to give her the food we sent today, only giving her strawberries, applesauce, and a sandwich that we, and they, specifically knew she wouldn't eat - which is why we packed her lunch to begin with! There was absolutely no communication to us about her not having a lunch today and no research into their *own* system, which clearly documents what she had yesterday and could have shown the difference in today - tacos aren't the same as Hamburger Helper. What adult thinks a few strawberries is an appropriate meal for a child in an 8 hour span?! Or that a parent would only pack 4 strawberries for their child's lunch?! I wouldn't recommend this daycare to anyone. The lack of common sense and communication don't inspire any sort of confidence, especially enough to leave my children in their care. We would be more than happy to discuss our experience with any interested parents. read more

My wife and I enrolled our two children in The Goddard School in Allen a few years ago. Our experience could not have been better. John and Amanda are awesome owners and the staff loved our children. Our kids have different personalities (one is really outgoing and the other is a little more shy). The teachers were great at working with both of their strengths and personalities to give them the most well-rounded education possible. They are now in early elementary grades and routinely score "above meets expectation" on their tests. Thanks guys for the great experience! read more

We moved to Fairview last year and feel very fortunate to have found Goddard. This is an excellent place for your precious little ones to start their first educational experience! The administration and teachers really go out of the way to create a happy and healthy environment for not only the children but also for the parents. I have a type A personality but I honestly cannot think of one area of gap for the school. The classrooms are always clean. Teachers care for and love the children. I never worry when I drop off my son because I trust that he is in good hands. Most of all, my son has become more social and has had positive and memorable experiences at Goddard. Both of my grandsons attend Goddard and i can't say enough good things about it. We have been there over 5 years and have developed a close relationship with the outstanding staff. As a grandmother i have been able to participate in many activities with both my grandsons. One is now in the summer and after school program while the other one is in the young toddler group. I trust them with my most precious gifts. read more

There just aren't enough stars to give for this school. It is simply a fabulous school. All three of my boys have gone to Goddard and we just love the staff and the owners. They genuinely love on the kiddos every day and are so supportive of the families. I trust them whole-heartedly with my sweet boys and know they are in the very best hands. read more
