I celebrated my birthday here a few days ago. It was a Goddess theme, so this restaurant was perfect for the occasion. I had the Goddess chicken sandwich made into a salad and added tomatoe and cucumber. The salad was so fresh and tasty. Service was good and staff were very polite. I only wish they offered more beverage options like sugar free. They also had cute little boutique items staged for sale. Nice items but definitely not worth the price. There was a butterfly picture frame for $80. I'm certain I can find it on Amazon for $10. Lol Otherwise nice place. Theres also a nice little outdoor seating area. To begin with, my boyfriend and I were looking for a breakfast spot near Chicago 360 and came across this cute and affordable place. Moreover, the overall vibe was really nice and inviting. Furthermore, I ordered the hot honey chicken, which was good but not great since the chicken was a little burnt, although the portion size was generous. In addition, I got a lemonade which was refreshing and tasted great. On top of that, the customer service was decent I wasn't greeted when we walked in, but we were helped pretty quickly. The place was also very neat and clean, which is a big plus for me. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're in the area and looking for something quick and affordable. read more

This afternoon 2/27, I was startled by a haggardly older woman with grayish hair, who attempted to scold me into not holding a table that I had already been sitting in. She told me I cannot leave my items on the table (at the seat I'd already been sitting). She must be the manager - who only comes out in the open periodically looking to cause trouble; she disappeared shortly after. The abhorrent encounter combined with the microwaved buffalo cauliflower and flavorless lemon orzo salad, made for a very 1-star undesirable experience. Got a Too Good to Go order from Goddess and the Grocer! It came with two donuts, a chocolate croissant, and a chocolate cupcake. Pretty good value for money, donuts were a little stale tasting. I also purchased a chocolate chip cookie while i was in the store and it was not my favorite, very dry. Staff were very kind and friendly for the pick up! read more

Let me just say this, the quality of your food is exceptional! Your Dream Bar is top of the line delicious!!! However, your hot honey butter chicken sandwich is tasteless. Not a lick of seasoning or herbs was used in creating this sandwich!!! Great quality ingredients with no flavor whatsoever. Also my jaws hurt after eating it. It had a very hard fry on it yet the chicken thigh wasn't dry. The sandwich was executed well as far as the cooking technique. I would say don't over do the batter. I will return to try something else and will critique it soon. I gave three stars because that dream bar was really delicious and you do use quality ingredients. read more

I can't recommend this location enough. When you walk in, you are greeted by the helpful staff and an inviting atmosphere. You can't really get a bad meal/ drink here. My favorites are the Arnold Palmers and the breakfast potatoes. If you are not looking for food, still stop by to find some unique gifts and cards. You won't regret it. read more

We stopped by here to grab some sandwiches for our return journey home. There are so many options and kind of hard to pick! We placed our order and wandered around the grocery area and store to see what else they were selling. A lot of fun things! They also had ice water available, which was super nice after walking around in the sun for a bit. We were able to enjoy our sandwiches and they still tasted good despite not being eaten immediately. Really nice seeing a new healthy, casual option in the area! I arrived in the afternoon and guests ranged from folks looking to study solo to friends catching up over coffee and a meal. The menu is a smorgasborg with something for everyone. There are a wide array of sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items alongside a fancier kitchen menu, decadent pastries, and bougie coffee. The staff was very friendly and provided recommendations while I waffled in indecision. Eventually, I opted for the roasted veggie and grain bowl with chicken and took a lemon passionfruit pound cake for the road. The bowl had a delicious dressing and all of the ingredients were high quality and fresh. Although the price seemed high, it did last me for two very sizable meals. The pastry was absolutely divine- moist and not too sweet with citrus-forward flavor. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

We love going to the goddess and the baker but this spin off has none of the charm of the original. The food and coffee was comparable to a gas station but four times the price. The people working were actually very nice do good job hiring great works. It was clean but very bare bones inside. read more

The food is delicious! However the costumer service is not good. One of the employees was eating as she was taking orders. There's no signs on where to do pick up I had to get in line to pick up my order. What's the point of ordering ahead if you still make people get in line? Never greeting when entering (mind you there is no one but me on the store ) and it seems like a bit of a chore for the person working to do anything really . Today I purchased a coffee mug .. and it sat on the counter , no asking if I wanted a bag or anything of the sort . This is a bright spot in the neighborhood. I come here several times a week. They have the best croissants and an amazing menu, as well as delicious prepared food to take home, (Panko chicken, curried rice, sesame ginger chicken salad, etc.) I also appreciate the lively, congenial atmosphere that serves as a "third place" (a community gathering place that is not work or home) in the neighborhood. No dogs are allowed inside, and until recently, laptops were not permitted at tables. Both of these things, in addition to the cute decor and friendly service, made the place special, relaxing, and fun. I brought a friend here recently for lunch and we were sandwiched (as we ate our sandwiches!) between two work-from-homers on their laptops. These are small tables that are right up against each other. I'm surprised at what a difference it made to the experience. It was like going to someone's dreary cubicle farm for lunch rather than out to dine. The servers told me that certain people had complained a lot about not being able to use their laptops at tables. I was shocked, because there is generous counter seating in several areas where people were always allowed to work or do homework on their laptops. I'm writing to let the establishment know how much I appreciated that they took a stand and created a place where normal eye contact and a few friendly words exchanged between strangers was at least in the realm of possibility. I hope they give it another try. It really was special and greatly appreciated. There do exist other establishments that do it. For example Kibbitznest on Clybourn is proudly a "wifi free zone." I think it's just a matter of sticking to one's vision and riding out the noise. read more

Have visited the other Goddess and the Baker locations frequently. Assumed this location would be about the same, but the food is nowhere near what we've come to expect. Breakfast sandwich and chicken salad were both very disappointing. $10 Bacon maple breakfast sandwich was honestly convenience-store quality, essentially one small piece of very flimsy bacon on a hamburger bun, with a bunch of sauce and some greens. $14 sesame miso chicken salad was worse; drowned in dressing and covered in fried tortilla strips, with a few pieces of old chicken. Unfortunately, again, something I'd expect from a low-end fast food joint. Not sure how all these locations are/aren't related in terms of food, but I would definitely walk a few more blocks to one of the Baker establishments. read more

We visited yesterday for coffee and a snack. Both were very good. The workers were so friendly. I ordered the Dubai cold brew and was blown away at how good it was. Hands down best cold brew I have had. We sat outside and had a nice time. We would definitely visit again. read more

First time visiting The Goddess and Grocer and what a pleasant surprise. Not only is it a cafe but also has the cutest merchandise. While waiting for the food to be ready, it was very enjoyable browsing the store area of the cafe. The Veggie Smash Burger and the Tuna Melt which I must say was so delicious. The Smashed Brussels Sprouts were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Vegan CupCake was inhaled, so so good! read more

I grabbed a pastry and was taking a work call early on a Friday morning. I sat at one of maybe 10 tables, there were only 3 taken. After 20 minutes of me sitting there, one of the employees came up and asked me to move because I wasn't allowed to sit there. I have no idea why. I had food and was not taking up a table that was being waited on (there were at least 5 open spots). I'm disappointed that I'd be asked to move when there wasn't a crowd. Order delivery at your own risk through the Goddess & Grocer website! I learned today that they contract with DoorDash and refuse to take any responsibility for bad delivery experiences, even though it's G&G's own service provider giving the bad service. The driver left my order on a completely different floor from my apartment and by the time I found it, the food was cold. The employee I first spoke with at the G&G location first said there was nothing they could do since the delivery service is a third party and they take no responsibility. Then I spoke with a G&G manager, who first assured me she'd process a refund for the tip I gave (I didn't ask for a refund of the order, just the $15 tip) and then changed course: she pawned me off on DoorDash to try to get Doordash to give me a refund, taking zero responsibility and saying it's all in the hands of DoorDash and that G&G has no power to issue any refund themselves, even though - again - I did not order on the DD website but instead through G&G's website directly; I have zero control over what delivery service they use. I have now wasted a lot of my time and have no refund. I will AVOID in the future! read more

NOT DOG-FRIENDLY to just run in and pick up food/drink to take out. I live not too far from here but had never been. I was staying across the street at the very dog-friendly hotel Sofitel while there was construction in my building. The first morning I went in with my small dog, ordered a sandwich and left to eat it at the hotel. It was such a lovely experience, I thought I'd be recommending this place to people. But the next morning, went in to grab a muffin to-go and was told, not very nicely, that I can't have my dog in there. Not even to grab a to-go order?! Management, take note. There are a ton of other cafes that allow you to pick up an order with a dog. We'll frequent those. There are so many dogs in this neighborhood that if you're not dog-friendly, you will lose business. But for me the main reason is your lack of compassion...no one should tie up their dog outside to run in and grab a coffee, it's not safe, dogs can be taken! And you've discriminated against everyone walking a dog solo/single because you've made it impossible to come in and buy something since there's no way we're leaving our dog with a stranger outside. I was so disappointed, this went from a great experience and my new fave place to a place I wouldn't recommend, in 24 hours. I'm in a few "visit Chicago" FB groups with tens of thousands of followers....I'll make sure they know this. All you had to do was let me come in with my small, well-trained, non-shedding therapy dog and pick up a muffin/coffee, turn around and walk out. But instead, you made it a bad experience for me and shamed me for trying to just pick up food while walking my dog in the neighborhood. And the muffin was bland. read more
