I stopped in for lunch and ordered a shrimp salad wrap. It arrived as a hot pannini with grille marks. I was expecting a cold shrimp salad wrap but decided to keep it. It tasted different to me but didn't have a "bad" taste so I ate 3/4 of the sandwich. At the end, some of the shrimp salad spilled onto my plate and I noticed small white cubes resembling tofu so I questioned the waiter who checked with the chef. I was told it was imitation crab meat. The sandwich description was shrimp salad with tomatoes and lettuce. I have severe food allergies and cannot eat such things. I politely requested that the charge be waived since several things went wrong, one being very serious. As we speak, I am feeling very ill from this. The owner/management refused to waive the charge. We used to come here years ago when we were more local however since moving to NJ we have not had the opportunity. Stopping by the other day to our surprise was so great. Under new management/ownership this was a very nice experience. Food was great, lighting and ambiance was really nice. Staff was very helpful and happy to serve us. I can't wait to come back. On this Saturday morning it was bustling, and I sat at the small counter that serves as both a place to eat and their bar for drinks. As I supped on a morning omelette, the folks next to me sipped on Bloody Marys. I ordered the Old Country Omelette (onion, green pepper, tomato, bacon, ham & sausage), side of home fries, rye toast) and Lacas perked coffee. It took a while for a server to notice me and begin service, but I was in no hurry. When she finally stopped by to help, she didn't hear me ask her to hold the ham. No biggie. But, it took her until I was almost completely finished with my meal to inquire how I was doing. I had already asked the floor manager for a caffeine refill, which he provided after bartending the first Bloody Mary. Gratitude, my good man. The only things missing on this weekend before Christmas were smiles on any of the faces working there. No one seemed happily employed, and they seemed incapable of offering even a glimpse of happiness to their customers for being there. They felt oppressed by something or someone. The food and table service were fine and what is expected from a diner, but I was overcharged by $70 on a bill that was $22 on the first receipt. This was processed by the system at the higher cost and I was only able to see it when I was about to sign the bill. Luckily, I noticed the huge difference in what was supposed to be the total amount. I asked to have this charge cancelled or voided, but they were unable to comply. I argued with them for about 30 minutes before it was completely clear they have no idea how to use thier equipment. I now have to dispute this charge with my bank and potentially close this credit card because I do not trust the people working in this establishment. read more

However, since their renovations the staff is less friendly and the quality and portion sizes have decreased. Apparently this is NOT the same Diner we all came to adore. The service and food is now mediocre which brings me to the main issue..... My last meal was a favorite of mine - The Mini Surf and Turf. In the past it has been phenominal every time! However when I called to order take out as usual I received attitude from the person receiving my order. She "told" me to order online instead of calling in an order even though I had tried to access their online ordering system which was not working properly. Nevertheless she took my order with continued attitude. When I had arrived to pick up my order I was "greeted" im a cold manner. This whole experience was becoming uncomfortable before I even paid my bill. What made this entire situation WORSE was the condition of my order...... The Mini Surf and Turf consists of a filet mignon, stuffed shrimp with healthy sides. In my take out box were two different cuts of meat... A chunk of steak and half of a filet! I don't know if I received someones leftovers or if they tried to pass it off as a meal. Either way this was unacceptable. To make matters worse I was ACCUSED of lying when I had complained even after giving them the benefit of the doubt of them having made a mistake! I was completely dumbfounded... Our group had brunch at Golden Eagle yesterday. There were nine people in our party. The waiter was magnificent. When we were seated there were only five of us. You could see he was disappointed but he did not give us a difficult time or say anything. After we were seated four more arrived. The manager or waiter brought them to our table. We don't order as quickly as normal as we are catching up and such. He was very patient. He knew exactly how to read people. Everyone enjoyed their food. A couple people ordered lunch type foods. I love the way they redid the entry way. Also they have outdoor seating. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because of the very uncomfortable booth they sat us at. It was four people deep and then others in the back. That booth would never have worked with some members of our group. read more

This is everything a diner should be. Solid food and friendly service. Decor is nice and new but still has a diner feel. We purposely selected a diner because it was Thursday when diners worldwide always have split pea as the soup of the day. The soup did not disappoint and neither did the tuna which came with delicious cole slaw and a giant salad. The best part was that our bill was only $10! We used to eat here often but they have gone downhill in recent years so we have avoided it. Since the extensive remodel we decided to give them another try. Overall, the food is meh, portion sizes are tiny and they are overpriced. I'm sure over time I could find something decent on the menu but if they can't get a cheesesteak or a burger right, how good can their other menu options be? The cheesesteak was mostly bread with very little meat or cheese and quite honestly, it was awful. My husband ordered the Bacon Blue burger and asked for American cheese instead of bleu cheese. Our server said it would be no problem. We questioned why they did not just have a regular bacon cheeseburger on the menu. Our server had no explanation. When the burger came out, there was no bacon. The server brought it back to the kitchen where they added the bacon but she then CHARGED US extra for bacon. So, we were asked to pay the regular price for a Bacon Bleu burger AND an additional $1.25 for bacon. That does not make any sense. I also ordered their appetizer size sweet potato fries for $7. It was just a handful of fries on a plate (the same portion size that comes with any sandwich). When we brought it to our servers' attention she said they usually put it on a smaller plate so it looks bigger. REALLY? That's your answer? We addressed the manager who sent out a small plate of waffle sweet potato fries. It still was not enough. Every other diner we have been to has a very large basket of fries when ordered as an appetizer. When we paid the check we asked for clarification on the extra charge for bacon on a burger that comes with bacon. They gave us 25 cents off. That did it for us. Our food was hot, salad green were fresh and chicken and tuna sandwiches were delicious. I haven't been here since the remodel but I must say it looks beautiful and the service is great. So after going to Taco Bell, I had another negative experience. Awesome. So, I place an order for pickup. Get a call. "we can't make hot food." "our manager isn't here to give a refund if that's what you want." we talked about calling back and seeing about stuff. So, he tells me he can make things in a pan and scrambled eggs. Afterwards he gets frustrated when I ask questions, and I'm wondering why he even said to call back. All the apology stuff was pretty manipulative only to have it thrown back in my face wheb I ask questions. He says "I already told you what we can make" with a agitated voice. First it's what can be made in a pan, eggs, bacon. Then he tells me earlier after I ask about cream chipped beef that nothing I'm asking about can be made. He acted like I inconvienced him when his establishment took my money when they did the deep clean in their kitchen without noting it on their website. Not my problem. And he says I'll have to call after 10 am to get a refund cause he doesn't know how to do it. He seemed chill at first but then just got frustrated. I mean is it my fault your management screwed you over? No. He was not very specific about what could be made. Nor even attempted to offer anything for their inconvience. Just that we can look at the difference. Holy hell, and I had just got done talking about Taco Bell with the guy. Look at my other review, same day. Insane. It was a really horrible day. I'd been involved in a car accident that incapacitated my car, which was full of luggage, and my kids, down the road from my ex-husband's house. I'd dealt with crazy, mean spirited people who came out of their homes to see what the hubbub was about. I'd been poked and prodded by urgent care and given the runaround by police, the insurance company, the person who hit my car and the towing company. I was DONE. I just wanted some food. So the whole posse headed over to the Golden Eagle diner to get some food before heading home. This is a pretty typical diner with an expansive menu of a million options. My kids rave about this place. They come here frequently with their dad, who informed me that you get 10% off your check if you pay in cash and have their app or something. You start off by receiving their cheese and cinnamon bread. It's like the eastern European stuff my mom makes at Easter time-- a cinnamon or cheese filling wrapped in a flattish sweet dough. My sons loved their dinner sized chicken caesar salad and chicken fetuccine alfredo. I ordered a Shrimp Scampi from the specials board, over linguini. It came with a salad, which I enjoyed with Thousand Island dressing. They give you way too much dressing, don't be like me and dump the whole thing on your salad and then not want to eat it all. The shrimp were large and fresh. The dish came with a ton of pasta that was slightly overcooked and there wasn't quite enough sauce on it but I scarfed it all down. I don't know if that's a reflection of my day and tendency to eat when stressed or the caliber of their food! It was alright, not great. The service was attentive and just friendly enough. Imagine the perfect diner waitress: sassy, smart alecky and knows the menu inside out. That was our server. She gets 5 Stars. Weird side note-- I don't know what was going on that night but the outside of the diner had a weird mildewy smell, like someone's basement, but outside. I guess that's what the spoon in it was for) with some melted cheese on like 3 noodles and over the meatballs that I tried and it was exactly as I thought, dry and just not good tasting. Tasted like salted meat. His wrap was in some weird wheat wrap? It was like an orange color and I tasted a tiny bite and it was just gross. Didn't even look at the check just paid and tipped.
