I really tried, folks! I looked and looked. But I could not find a single bad thing on the menu. Deviled eggs were delicious, if you like deviled eggs. Maybe even if you don't; I can't vouch for that one. The carne asada fries were spectacular. That jalapeño avocado crema? Just right. And they were a different fries from the fries in the steak frites a la juancho, which I loved too. It was on my wife's boss's dime, so I couldn't just go for the elk burger, as good as that looked. For the steak frites I went with medium rare on the sous vide tenderloin, and it was... definitely between medium and rare. I don't know steaks well but it was everything I think a steak's supposed to be. Oh! And with the steak frites you get 2 sauces for the steak. I got the orange chimichurri, which sounded bad but was basically just chimichurri. If you haven't had chimichurri now's the time to. I also got the salsa macha, which I hadn't heard of but wow, I couldn't get enough of it. Kind of a smokey flavor. My wife got the sea bass, and I had some. The fish itself was moist and flaky... I don't think I've seen fish cooked better. And the skin on the sea bass! My wife doesn't like fish skin, so I discreetly offloaded that from her plate. Well seasoned, but not overseasoned. Crispy. And not even too oily or anything. Oh I almost forgot the beet salad! Fantastic, just the right amount of goat cheese, and the citrus vinaigrette was refreshing. My wife and I shared it and both thought it was great. And we're salad people. Drinks were top notch. I had a paniolo mule and a whiskey sour. Both were great. My wife hadn't had a whisky sour and now she loves whisky sours. ‍ At least she loves theirs. I think that's all? I'll just say everyone else seemed very satisfied as well. Strolling the streets of Georgetown, Texas brought me to this cute little dive, called The Golden Rule! We chose the bar so we could check out what was going on all around us! Drinks were ok. I had the "knock knock knocking" which wasn't great. My girlfriend got a Whiskey Business and it was pretty good. Now, onto the appetizer and sandwich. We got the deviled eggs and they were a little bit vinegary, but overall not bad. The fried bologna sandwich was pretty bomb-a -licious, although, they ran out of mayonnaise. So first off: i love Kason, who is the bar manager. He was very helpful the first 2 times I went there. The other bartenders were great too! Service makes or breaks a restaurant in my opinion. Also Elijah(Eli) was a great server and put up with me and my group! Now to the food: Brussel sprouts were great- the peppers added a different flare to the dish. Also it was a plus because Greenhouse had been my Brussel sprouts spot in Georgetown Steak(app) -was pretty good especially with the sauces Shrimp-very yummy and I definitely didn't share Queso- so the queso has pork in it, which made it more likely to be eaten by me :) but the plus about this queso was that it wasn't cheesy- more milky(really good) i dont know how else to explain it- JUST TRY IT Drinks! We had a great brunch stop this past weekend. I had been hearing good things about this place and thought let's give it a try. Really good atmosphere and staff that was supper friendly and attentive. The food was high quality and prices reasonable. We tried a couple appetizers the pimento cheese and toast, the guacamole and the deviled eggs. The pimiento cheese was very good and flavorful however the toast was too hard. The deviled eggs were good, not great but good. A little too much of a fake barbecue flavor to them. And the guacamole was good, not great but good. I would order the cheese dip again and maybe try a different appetizer next time. I ordered the steak and eggs and my wife the biscuits and gravy and our friend ordered the ricotta toast. All were excellent the steak was a fillet cooked perfectly and very flavorful and tender. The biscuits were very buttery and good and the grave was definitely homemade. Not from some packet. We stopped in for the first time today. Been meaning to for awhile but just haven't gotten around to it. It was a brunch menu, which I love. We got the French toast and it was a little soggy but otherwise had good flavor. The deviled eggs were really strange. The menu said "dill, shallots" but we got like....... Buffalo eggs?! I don't know. I assume they were buffalo because they were orange and had a tiny blue cheese crumble and a slice of celery. Went with our dogs to have a lunch after a long hike. Outside they have a patio, then seating on the street. We were told (by the young waitress) due to dogs we were required to sit on the street, where no one else was. I was slightly frustrated, as the place has a cool vibe with a neat covered patio, but hey I totally get it. I got up to use the restroom and passed multiple families with dogs on the patio . I asked a different waitress why I was sitting on the street, when others were not and she replied "well you have dogs". I kindly gestured towards the other families, and she just was like "uhhhhmmm ‍". Not sure what their policy actually is, and maybe they were training new people, but it was not the most pleasant first experience overall. Yes to everything about this place. The small plates are so good- we ordered Brussels and the quail. The beef stroganoff is one of the best steak pasta dishes I've had (I like my steak medium rare). After going a couple of times now, I can honestly review this place, having had a couple of different experiences. The ambiance of this restaurant, paired with the music selection, feels homey and relaxing while upscale and classy. The first time, we sat inside and the second time sat on the patio. Some of the price points of the food are a little over the top, and then some are fairly priced. The favorite dishes are the beet salad , the Cantonese riblets, and the lobster pasta. The queso and porkchop weren't favorites of the table, but the presentation was beautiful. We were all happy with our drinks as we tried different bourbons, and even asked the bartender to suprise us with some drinks. The bar is well stocked and a nice place to hang out as well. A cool feature is that the bar is available to the inside guests as well as outside guests, giving sort of an open air concept so everyone is one big happy family. Great vibes and tasty food and drinks, but the service was not ideal. I was very excited to try this restaurant rom their social media posts of things offered and the beautiful space itself. When we first arrived there was no one at the host station outside and one waitress running around. We were there 3/26, hot Saturday about 2:30-3pm the outside patio was about half full, a little less. After standing around for a few minutes she finally came out from inside and walked right past us standing at her station, without even saying hey I'll be right with you or anything. Once we got seated it was about 5 more minutes until our waitress came by from inside. She asked us what we wanted and we explained we had not received a menu or anything quite yet. There was a QR code (that the hostess didn't mention) a few feet down from us on the outdoor ledge so we scanned that while we were waiting for her. Throughout the service we saw her only 3 times, twice right away when we received menus and asked for water and cocktails. Had to ask for her to come back so we would actually have time for reading the menu. We were seated next to each other on the outdoor ledge seating and would turn to face or huddle together to chat or read over the menu given to us. Every time she brought something to us she forcefully slammed them down in between us. We had to flag her down to try to leave and pay. Upon receiving the bill was the first time she said anything more than "do you know what you want" to us or get anything but a negative and dismissive attitude. We didn't even get her name. She was smaller and more brunette and was only helping 2 other tables so there wasn't a lot to do and kept chatting with the blonde hostess and someone she clearly knew that was a customer seated at the bar. All the staff we saw were Very young, so maybe it is a matter of hiring better or training staff better or more over-site of them. The third person working outside was a taller blonde girl who was doing amazing! I wish I had gotten her name and that we could have had her as a waitress as she was on top of her work that needed to be done and seemed happy. Prices were average and I believe fair for the quality of items and atmosphere or type of establishment. The chicken sandwich was very small, especially the amount of chicken on the already small bun, but otherwise all the food and drinks were great. The environment and food and drink taste, including the many interesting dinner dishes we saw on the menu and want to try, will bring us back again and hopefully receive better service so I can update this review but we will see. read more

We live in Georgetown and eat at the Golden Rule on a regular basis. When we bring friends from out of town they are always impressed. We hosted family from Seattle on Tuesday and our experience was amazing. The menu selection is excellent and the food is exceptional. They have a full bar, cool inside seating and a covered outdoor patio. We have always received outstanding service. While I'd love to keep this a Georgtown secret, I'm writing this new review to support locally owned businesses. I will recommend a reservation for weekend evening dining. Enjoy. read more

I had a very strange and unpleasant experience here. I ordered the steak frites, steak cooked medium. Well a huge chunk of it was basically rare. So I didn't get to eat a lot of it. I told the waitress and showed her. She came back with a to go box with the meat I didn't like in it and told me I can take it home to cook it how I like it ????!!! What?! I came here to pay for a service and pay for the food- and I didn't get it. Then I'm told to cook it myself? I paid full price. The chef just so happened to ask us how our food was and I told him. As someone who used to bartend a huge, busy, touristy bar on the beach, I know how to multitask and scan the bar to make sure people don't go without. But these ladies were so caught up in talking to each other and doing service bar that they could care less of any of us sitting at the bar. The couple next to us was not happy about it either. And a lady in the corner went without a drink for well over 30 minutes. Also, note to management: if the tap is "always bad and foamy" then it's time to invest in a better tap. The low light in the building added to the overall relaxed vibe. When the food you want from the menu is actually available, it's meh. Looks great on paper but doesn't deliver. A lot like the cornbread mentioned earlier. We ordered a few shareables for the table, including the Cantonese Riblets, Salt and Pepper Calamari and Carne Asada Fries. All three were delicious, but my favorite was hands down the riblets. They slid right off the bone and tasted a lot more authentic than I was initially expecting. The fries were the next runner up because you can never go wrong with fries covered in queso. For lunch, I ordered the Italian Sausage Burger. I really enjoyed it and it came with more waffle fries! I thought I'd love the sausage patty, however, I think I would have enjoyed a different protein to fill it out a little more. It was worth a try though! The service was great here and everyone was super friendly. Parking can get a little tricky, but there's plenty of spots if you're not going at peak hours. Wow, I want to give this place 5 stars, and I hope they trend up but the food is a 3 star experience - at best. Ambiance is perfect! Less than a block off the square in downtown Georgetown with plenty of free street parking [when Georgetown starts going to valets, I'm moving.] Lots of people walking around: this is a walking little town. The place itself has a very expansive outside deck with even a few more street side tables - with the fans and heaters I'm betting you get 9-10 months of outside seating here. Inside the bar is not large but it is gorgeous and there are some table tops as well as lounge seating - comfy old chairs, some Victorian love seats - its really charming and inviting. You will love the ambiance. Service was fast, friendly and professional - I dealt with three different mixologists and not a surly one in the bunch [try finding that percentage of happy people in Austin...] and the make a wonderful drink. PS: wines on tap (they're not bad) and you have GOT to try a smoked Old Fashion (try the alder wood - its delicious smokiness in a perfect drink.] PS: At least two rooms for private parties too if you need that holiday gathering! Why no five stars then? Sounds great! It is great if you go for friends, drinks and good times. But unless we picked the worst entries - chicken and a burger - the food is underwhelming.
