    Dark chocolate samples
    Jodie M.

As someone who's on the cusp of pre-diabetes and still on my personal journey to keep my sugar down, I am so happy to discover this hidden gem in Visitacion Valley through Yelp! For a while now, I'm always on the search for dark chocolates as I have been advised by my doctor to munch on these instead to curb my appetite for my sweet cravings. The Good Chocolate will definitely be an addition to my stash of dark chocolate in the office and at home. What hooked me to Good Chocolate was that their chocolates are zero sugar (sweetened with erythritol, mesquite and stevia), 100% organic, KETO & Paleo friendly, soy free and has a low glycemic index. I also love that they're handcrafted locally in San Francisco - yay to local businesses! Ben & Miki are the co-founders of the store/factory. I love how he shared the 411 on how Good Chocolate came to be. Nestled in Visitacion Valley, the store opened to SF in 2017 so it's only been two years but their chocolates are sold in Bi-Rite stores, Rainbow Grocery, and also in the Ferry Building. The idea of Good Chocolate came to be when Ben began having dental issues due to the fact that he was big on sugar. He wanted to live a healthier lifestyle, hence cutting on his added sugar intake from his diet - and viola, @thegoodchocolate was born! Not only did he lose 10 pounds, but their dentist applauded him for taking good care of his teeth. I loooove all things mint so the 65% Dark Chocolate Mint automatically was a winner for me. But seriously, it was really good even though it was only 65% dark chocolate. Himalayan Sea Salt is the runner up. I still don't know how I feel about the Ginger though - I had to try the samples thrice but I couldn't really tell or taste the ginger in there. The other people I talked to said it's very subtle. We were also offered to drink wine, zero sugar hot chocolate, help ourselves to snacks (pretzels, chips, nuts, chocolate covered-strawberries, pretzels and the like) while listening to Miki's voice, and the jazz music in the background. Moreover, we got to make our own chocolate bar with inclusions such as mulberries, toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, etc. We had the skinny on what it's like to make sugar-free chocolate, and even wrap our own chocolate bars too! It really did feel like being in a Willy Wonka factory because they were wrapped in gold foil wrappers. I had my coworkers try my chocolate concoction and they said I should petition or ask the flavor to be in their stores!! Thanks @thegoodchocolate for creating a guilt-free treat we can indulge on & encouraging a lifestyle while still thinking about healthier food choices in mind. Fun fact: if you want to be on a tour, you are able to do so with Airbnb experience!!

What a great find! Thanx Instagram. I received a number of the flavors in the mail an excitedly dug into them... All so tasty with subtle flavor (Ginger, Salted Almond, Mint ect) .The majority of the variations are 65% Dark with one Milk Chocolate and all contain no Sugar and made with a few simple ingredients (no huge list of unpronounceable ingredients here!) This is such a great little company which from I can tell only sell online via their website but are based right here in in California! San Francisco to be exact. If you're looking to reduce Sugar intake without compromising on treats I recommend giving this a try.

Recently started the keto diet and if you're familiar with it u know sugar is on the list of things you can't have. I follow a lot of different keto pages on Instagram and I see that LA has a bunch of low carb/keto-friendly bakery's and candy shops and what not. So I decided to search on yelp. This place is the first thing that pops up because guess what........ I live 2-3 blocks away! The location is very easy to find, right across from the Bank of America parking lot. We walked in and got helped right away. The cashier offered us samples which we proceeded to try every single one. Some more than once!! LOL All of them were tasty I personally just don't have the taste for dark chocolate so on this diet I've been trying to find decent sweets for awhile now. So when I tell u, I tasted the Dark Milk chocolate and instantly fell in love!!! Im thinking of making some chocolate covered strawberries/almonds with it. As much as I hate dark chocolate, THIS I can get down with. I'm definitely going to come back for more. 7 net carbs??? For a whole bar. Count me in LOL but yeah anyone looking for some good sugar free chocolate, I highly recommend this place (:

Very delicious 54% Dark Milk square.

Must-do in SF! As an early Father's Day gift, I booked a Build-Your-Own-Bar workshop for my family…read moreand bf-- they've always wanted to visit the factory ^_^ Fun and educational activity for all ages~~~ We arrived early and enjoyed a few drinks from their cafe before a member of staff checked us in. Our tour guide (forgot his name...!) was so welcoming as he greeted each of us and walked us through the factory. We started with a quick overview of Dandelion Chocolate's history and a handful of samples :3 The actual workshop was just around the corner, hosted in an airy kitchen space. We were given a rundown of the chocolate-making process and the locally-sourced toppings before being invited to create our own bars, by pouring warm chocolate into the molds and quickly adding our choice flavors before they hardened. YUMMMM I may have had more than a few samples as we decorated :3 All throughout, the smell of rich chocolate enveloped us like a warm hug... Once our bars were in the fridge, our tour guide took us to an adjacent meeting room where we tasted hot cocoa and learned about cocoa bean harvesting. Zipped through Q&A about the factory-- passed by so fast! We were back in the room to crack open our finished bars. All except my dad's came out intact (broke into 3 pieces!), but our guide apologized profusely and gifted us a complimentary bar as a token of apology...! My dad was of the mindset that broken or whole, it all tastes the same (lolol) but it was a kind gesture nonetheless :') We stuck around to taste some of Bloom cafe's ice cream offerings, which were phenomenal! Truly a great spot to appreciate fine chocolates. We can't wait to come back for another event!!

I booked about a week in advance which I would definitely advise - these tours fill up! I was the only non-local attendee so it seems like Dandelion is best known within the city. The tour was great - our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the chocolate making process and made the experience fun! We learned about cacao beans and even got to taste the cacao fruit - which was interesting. We then went through the whole process from bean to bar and walked through the factory which was a really neat experience. There were lots of samples along the way which I enjoyed. One of the chocolate makers gave us a sneak peak of an upcoming chocolate bar! The area is spacious and there was a lot of standing - so something to be mindful of if you sign up for a tour. We ended the tour in the front room where we were treated to a free hot chocolate to end our experience. The front room also had a section of samples of their current chocolate offerings. I was happy to try them all before selecting my to-go chocolate for the ride home. I opted for the Mexican hot chocolate and it was spicy and delicious. On my way out, I saw a group arrive for a chocolate-making class so it seems like they have a bunch of different class options! I would certainly come back here for a class or to show the tour to friends and family.

I really like that you can choose exactly how many of each flavor you want in your box. I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. I chose orange, citron/lemon, caramel, earl grey, espresso, raspberry, and hazelnut. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. He took the time to neatly tie up the box and even gave me two complimentary pieces. The shop itself is tiny and charming with a good variety of flavors. A friend of mine has been coming here since childhood, and now I understand the hype. I'll definitely be back.
