It's that time of year where I do my annual hot cocoa crawl :) and this place is on my top five for theirs. You also get a free truffle of your choice with the drink. Call me old-fashioned but I like my hot cocoa made with whole milk rather than water. So yummy, did not disappoint. Highly recommend if you like trying different types of hot cocoa. The man whisks the chocolate and milk right in front of you :) Inside it's a small hole in the wall and can get crowded with even 3-4 people but they have room on the sides for you to enjoy sitting near the window while you enjoy sipping on your hot cocoa.

This cute shop is a hole in the wall just off Castro street! We got the hot chocolate & it came with a truffle, which was nice! We chose the dark chocolate truffle which was delicious - very soft, creamy and addicting! I found the hot chocolate okay - it was a bit too sweet for me (I'm more of a dark chocolate fan, so I'd prefer other spots). I would definitely come back for the truffles! They also sell boxes of truffles, which would make a great gift!

This review is for the iced chocolate milk only. Service was good. Prices are reasonable. I found the iced chocolate drink to be very powdery. I actually felt like i had something stuck in my throat while drinking it. Also i didn't not find it to be chocolatey enough. I would definitely go with dandelion next time. We did get a free truffle and that was very good. No seating, strictly takeout.

Five stars is right! We dropped in because my daughter wanted a coffee but when I saw the truffles I HAD to get some. I must say, they were the best dang truffles I have had. The Raspberry were particularly delicious. We did get a large box and chose multiple different flavors which all went in the same box. Honestly, since they all look exactly alike, I recommend seeing if they can put them in separate smaller boxes or something. Grabbing one to eat was always a surprise flavor. Quality truffles and the coffee was particularly good also.

They tend to be on the more expensive side (almost $4), but the free truffle makes up for the steep price.

Our tour guide (forgot his name...!) was so welcoming as he greeted each of us and walked us through the factory. We started with a quick overview of Dandelion Chocolate's history and a handful of samples :3 The actual workshop was just around the corner, hosted in an airy kitchen space. We were given a rundown of the chocolate-making process and the locally-sourced toppings before being invited to create our own bars, by pouring warm chocolate into the molds and quickly adding our choice flavors before they hardened. YUMMMM I may have had more than a few samples as we decorated :3 All throughout, the smell of rich chocolate enveloped us like a warm hug... Once our bars were in the fridge, our tour guide took us to an adjacent meeting room where we tasted hot cocoa and learned about cocoa bean harvesting. Zipped through Q&A about the factory-- passed by so fast! We were back in the room to crack open our finished bars. All except my dad's came out intact (broke into 3 pieces!), but our guide apologized profusely and gifted us a complimentary bar as a token of apology...! My dad was of the mindset that broken or whole, it all tastes the same (lolol) but it was a kind gesture nonetheless :') We stuck around to taste some of Bloom cafe's ice cream offerings, which were phenomenal! Truly a great spot to appreciate fine chocolates. We can't wait to come back for another event!!

I really like that you can choose exactly how many of each flavor you want in your box. I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. I chose orange, citron/lemon, caramel, earl grey, espresso, raspberry, and hazelnut. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. He took the time to neatly tie up the box and even gave me two complimentary pieces. The shop itself is tiny and charming with a good variety of flavors. A friend of mine has been coming here since childhood, and now I understand the hype. I'll definitely be back.

I got the mint, espresso, dark chocolate and coconut and all were super tasty. I want to go back! It's a very cute, homemade shop and I highly recommend checking it out!

This place is absolutely huge! My friend and I were out on a bike ride around SF, riding over from the Bay Bridge, when we stumbled right across the factory and decided we had to stop and check it out. We originally sat down at the outdoor tables to grab a bite at Broad Street Oysters (which is right in the factory), but as we were sitting there, we kept seeing everyone walking past us holding these massive, incredible-looking ice creams. The temptation was real We headed straight inside the factory to grab some dessert, and I tried their new Dubai Pistachio chocolate whip cream vanilla ice cream. It was absolutely amazing. If you're a local who has been putting this off like I did, change that ASAP. It lives up to the hype! People around the world come travel here just to check out places like this one. Pro tip: you can order ANY sundae as a mini even though they don't advertise it that way. You already know what you're getting. It's touristy, it's (WAY) overpriced, and it's CROWDED. Honestly $20.50 for an ice cream sundae is quite ridiculous, but it made my kids happy so I count it a win.
