I cannot even begin to express how bad my experience at this hostel was. My friend and I booked a…read morereservation here under the impression we had booked a room with two beds. My WHOLE issue here is actually the owner, she was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. We were given a phone call with the woman that began with her already angry before even talking to us or being made aware of our situation. She was irate the whole phone call during which she yelled the whole time and said things like, "(we) should've called to confirm that the room we booked is what we booked" (I've never had to call a place to confirm that what I booked online was in fact what I booked??) she said that she 'wasn't my mother' and 'it wasn't her job to confirm', multiple times. Then, after she was belligerent the whole phone call (and mind you I was respectful and genuinely never said a rude word) I finally said look I'm gonna have to leave bad reviews because I don't want other people to experience this. (And I don't, you should run) She told me I was threatening her and she was recording the conversation. (I hope was and that she plays the convo back someday and realizes how unprofessional and rude she sounded.) And then she hung up on me. Leaving reviews is the only power we as consumers have, so I feel compelled to leave one. Note: it was very hot in the hostel, didn't seem very clean in common spaces, and at that point we decided we didn't feel safe enough to stay there because of the way this woman treated us so we left and stayed elsewhere. Be aware that apparently you need to call to Confirm you want the room you pay for and that driveway parking is actually not guaranteed even if you book/pay for it. You may end up with street parking and a $5/day parking pass. Make sure you read all the fine print. I hate that they're able to prey on people who can't afford nicer accommodations just because Providence hotels are expensive. But, most importantly, do everything in your power to avoid having to talk to the owner.

It was also quiet, with just two other guests who were friendly and not overly frightening. - The bathroom was relatively clean, and the water was nice and hot in the shower. - We did not see any cockroaches or other vermin! The Bad - The hallways were filthy, smelled like cat urine, and had either poor or no lighting. - The television in our room did not even have an electrical cord to plug it in! - The only lamp in the room was both broken and had no lightbulb. The Worst - The worst thing of all, as we arrived at this hostel, is that there was no obvious way to get inside. The first floor was dark and shuttered, so we ended up phoning the person whose number we had received. They demanded a $100 deposit thorugh Venmo, and that we download a curious door-locking app, both of which we did, and we were able to get in. One week later, and we still have not received our Venmo "deposit". - The next worst thing of all, the next morning, we could not open the door from the third floor onto the stairwell, because it was blocked by a human body! We thought this person was dead at first, but we could hear steady breathing. We didn't know what to do, so we decided to retreat to our room and have some breakfast and use the bathrooms etc. Fortunately, when we tried again an hour later, the body had woken up and disappeared. The Ugly - A mouse kept one of us awake at night. In the morning, a paper bag with food had a perfect little hole chewed out, and the blueberry muffin next to the hole had little mouse-sized bites taken out.

Boston is an incredibly walkable city, and aside from the JFK Library, I was impressed at how close the hostel was to so many iconic locations: Beacon Street, the Commons, City Hall, and the Boston Public Library, just to name a few. I loved how I didn't need a car to get to any of those locations, because everything was walking distance. The hostel itself was outstanding. I loved that for guests, there's a dedicated floor for pool, hanging out, a kitchen area to eat and cook, etc., but I also loved the daily activities they had for guests: On the night I stayed, they had a drinks mixer to meet people, and I got to meet people from Peru, Germany, New Jersey, Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and other places. We did a bar crawl based on availability and who the staff knew and had relationships with. The staff took us to the bar where the Founders planned the Boston Tea Party. As a guy who loves history and reads about history and travels to places for its historical sites, there was genuinely nothing cooler than being to go get a drink at the same bar where our Founders planned to throw tea into the Harbor. I have to warn people that I thought about bringing a lock before my stay, but I didn't. The front desk has locks for $8 in case you need something. The bathrooms were well maintained, and the bathrooms had soap and shampoo. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place where the staff will facilitate ways for you to meet people and hang out.

I felt very uncomfortable the first night and told Ryan I wanted a refund to avoid "pain and suffering" on all sides. I was granted a full refund: however, I was soon thereafter, for no reason banished from the hostel and property. The text to me read, "If you come back it will be considered trespassing and you will be arrested." That was cruel and totally uncalled for and undeserved. The situation was very poorly handled. Trained chimps could have done it better.

Upon arrival the room was at 68 (below 30 outside) soooo turned that sucker up. Put it on 74 and thought it would warm up overnight. Arrived pretty late, after 11pm. To my suppose the room was still at 68. And getting out of a warm bed to that was not my idea of a good morning. I called the front desk and the agent confirmed I was using the right thermostat to control the temp and noted that maintenance would check it. That was fixed as when I returned it was a nice balmy 76! Downside though was the unit did an odd cycling thing with warm air....cold air...warm air. So it never shut off at night and tan the entire time. Their drive way is odd, one way only and Tuesday morning there was a delivery truck blocking the exit. Thankfully no one else was behind us so we were able to back out. The room felt very industrial. Concrete walls and high ceilings, with an almost open concept bathroom. Barn door and the shower was a waterfall (over head) with hand held option thankfully. If you've got curtly hair, you know why a waterfall shower is the worst. And to ere was no shower cap as an option. The shower itself did not go all the way to the ceiling which also meant there was no barrier between you and the room. If share with a partner may not be bad but with friends, that's a nightmare. Other downside was the lock was funky. When leaving for dinner, thank goodness I checked the lock as it did not lock. I had to open the door and mess with it to finally lock. All in all decent hotel however I can't say I'd stay again.
