The East Bay has been painted inside and out, with all guest rooms being brightened with new linens, window coverings and art. Breakfast included coffee, tea, fresh juice, fresh fruit, homemade pastry, and a savory entree (quiche, sausage & baked eggs, etc) You will not go away hungry! East Bay's location is perfect for exploring the Island on foot or by car, or heading over to Newport. We even made the quick 1 hour drive down to Stonington CT for wine tasting. While we missed seeing Paul & Diane, we wish them well in their retirement. The East Bay and her guests are in very good hands with Mike & Rebecca.

It felt old and unpolished and lacked the "luxury" experience that they advertise. Luckily we did not have any issues with our room; our AC worked well during the heat wave and the bed and pillows were comfortable. As many has stated, there is a number of homeless just a few steps away from the hotel entrance. Some are across the street near the church, others are taking up the sidewalk on the same side of the hotel that you would need to take to get to Washington Street. We did not encounter any aggression, but it definitely makes the walk to and from the hotel uncomfortable.

It's the lower level of Marriott's long-term stay properties. The rooms are not really suites ... it's more like a regular hotel room with a small alcove with a desk. Those expecting an actual suite (which I've always defined as a separate bedroom) will be surprised to find a regular hotel room. The not so good ... - Pool is always ice cold. I don't think it is heated. Hot tub is warm-ish but kind of industrial feeling. There is a big glass window looking into the pool from the lobby. Not fun being watched while swimming. - The bathrooms are small and sparse with a toilet and a shower. The water pressure and showerhead were terrible. The water trickles out making a shower totally unenjoyable. Tubs of shampoo and body wash on the wall. The worst part is the empty bathroom acts as an echo chamber and the door is right next to the bed. Any tinkle ... or other sounds one might make in the bathroom can be heard as clear as a bell by anyone laying in bed. Don't be shy! - There are small maintenance issues here and there. Our roller shade was broken and only raised 3/4 of the way, meaning it was kind of dark because the shade was blocking the top of the window during the day. There were also water stains on the ceiling and rust on the shower door. - The fridge in the room barely worked and our food did not stay cold enough that I felt safe eating it after a day or two. The drinks were also barely kept cold. - Metal door to the room magifies sound, so any hallway noise feels like it's actually inside the room. The good ... - The staff here are great. The front desk was able to solve any problem and didn't act as though they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. We felt like guests. The breakfast attendant also was good and kept the place spotless. Although on the second day of our stay, they were out of most everything. Best scrambled eggs I've had at any cheap hotel buffet. - It's not luxurious by any means but the room seemed clean and the decor is a bit dark but comfortable. Bed is nothing special and linens feel cheap but no complaints. - One of the best in-room work station set-ups I've found with a comfortable chair and desk with plenty of space to spread out. - Very easy to get a 2 p.m. check out as an Elite guest. They didn't even hesitate to approve it, which is nice. Normally hotels fight you tooth and nail when you ask for a late check out, even as an Elite Marriott member. - Plenty of parking. It's a shame they don't have a bar, or little restaurant ... but I guess the area has lots of options. Tavern on the Square and just about every chain restaurant you can imagine and lots of fast food, including Shake Shack and Chick Filet. Pro tip ... there is a grocery store nearby named Dave's which has the best pizza by the slice and fresh soups and salads. Much better than fast food! Overall, there is nothing special about this hotel other than it's clean, comfortable and right off the highways.

As a frequent traveler and military service member, I can't recommend this hotel at all, despite the valiant effort of the staff. If you have ANY issue at all, rest assured the management lack any leadership to properly address or resolve your issue and will avoid ever calling you to understand the situation. When a case was opened with Bonvoy, management closed it with misinformation they concluded without ever calling me to confirm. In my 27 year career traveling for a living, I've never seen this level of unprofessionalism.

Luckily the gentleman who was managing that night (I'm sorry I forgot his name due to all the stops we made), took my reservation over the phone, greeted us when we got there and made us feel welcome. Stayed in the King 3 and loved the historic feel of the place, comfy bed, sound proof glass in the room helped keep the noice down from the highway nearby and the breakfast the next morning was the best we had on our trip. The whole concept of a completely unattended hotel is crazy. Hospitality is the main point, so there should at least be a person there to greet you during the scheduled hour of your arrival. Yes, you can text the proprietors, but that's not sufficient. The prices at the "gift shop" are inflated. More attempts to sell stuff in the room, too much marketing. The refrigerator in the room seemed to contain someone's leftovers. Overall very disappointing, especially considering the high price.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the second house, but was told that the rooms in the main house are a bit nicer. This is not a new made to look old inn, rather historic and romantic homes. Our room was very comfortable. However it took a bit to get it right. At first we could not get a window to close because the counterweight was stuck in the wall. The owner had to come late at night and cut the cord to the counterweight and close the window. The bathroom Windows counterweight had already been cut, I'm not totally repaired. In addition, the window air-conditioning was very loud. It took some jiggling and repositioning of the unit to get it to an acceptable level. However, the air-conditioning worked very well. I am sure that with with give me a stork home the maintenance is ongoing. Just need to watch and make sure that the maintenance doesn't slip. I read through some of the reviews about not caring bags, non-flexibility of the breakfast not make the order meals, and the Wi-Fi. I don't think ever in a bed-and-breakfast/never seen anybody carrying bags. The breakfast staff worked very hard and produced an abundance of tasty food. They did ask if we wanted something different each morning then what was on the planned mignon. The cornmeal blueberry muffins were absolutely fabulous. Joy did a great job with all of the food preparation. The breakfast room was wonderful and very pleasant to start the day. Now the wifi - tried to connect several times on multiple devices, however it was never successful. The Wi-Fi system needs work. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay. The stunning antique decor, delicious breakfast and jacuzzi tub were a perfect balance of comfort and hospitality. It was whisper quiet, we enjoyed looking at all of the historical artifacts throughout the house as well as the jazz music playing at night on the sound system in the foyer downstairs when we came back from our night on the town. For breakfast, we had a delicious spread of sausage, eggs made to order, home fries, fresh fruit, toast and fresh sticky apple cinnamon rolls made by Sydney and Regina. The coffee was freshly brewed, all the while we had some great conversations with other guests in the dining room. I highly recommend this property for couples that are enjoying a weekend away from the everyday chaos, history fanatics, honeymooners, baby and bridal showers and small weddings.
