We haven't been here in a long time. Decided to stop in for Happy Hour before the Heart concert. We grab two seats at the bar and ordered a couple drinks. I started with the Mirror Twin Citranomical IPA. My wife had the Goose is Loose. It was basically all vodka and some bleu cheese olives. She had them add a splash of olive juice. We ordered the Toasted Ravioli for an appetizer and they were delicious. Came out hot and crunchy and the House Marinara was good. For dinner I had the Cubano and a side of Cole Slaw and my wife had the Italian Hero with a side of Herb Roasted Potatoes. All of the sandwiches and sides were very good. The beer selection is OK. They have a huge bourbon selection. When we arrived the crowd was very minimal and by the time we left there was a 15-20 minute wait and the place was understaffed. I'm glad we got there when we did as we didn't have to wait for seating, service or food. Next time maybe we will check out the patio. read more

I found this restaurant to be a bit confusing. Fabulous location, nice patio space. The service was good - seated quickly, checkin on us regularly but not overly so. Host seating in this location seems like it might be a little bit upscale. Not fancy necessarily, but something more than the kind of run-down look and casual menu we found. Started with the spinach dip; it was fine - not good, not bad. Staff said they are known for their burgers so we all ordered one. Decent but nothing special. French fries were excellent. Beer cheese grits were a fun choice - good but was hoping for a little pizazz. Drink menu (particularly the wine list) was better than expected though they were out of our firs two choices. May try again for a happy hour, preferably on a warm day for some patio time. read more

Stopped in recently while in town for a work meeting. Came with a colleague on a rainy day. The food was good but not great. The server told us that they were known for their burgers, but it was a pretty middling burger (went for the three B's). Staff was nice and checked in on us regularly - and they had a nice drink selection, including some decent bottles of wine. A pretty good experience all-around. read more

This place was amazing! It was the end of parents weekend and we had a great day and wanted a delightful dinner to complete the weekend and this place did not disappoint! We got to sit out back on a gorgeous September day. The patio is the perfect spot to enjoy dinner and our waitress Bree (like the cheese) was the bomb! The was friendly, knowledgeable and the best service we've had in a long time. Now to the food: Cran-Apple Blue Salad was fresh crunchy and tangy Bourbon Pork & Apples was was perfectly cooked and the Brussels The Three B's was out of this world! We stopped in with a small group of friends. Six in our party for a Saturday early evening meal. We were promptly seated. The atmosphere made us feel as if we were at our neighborhood pub. Beautiful wood bar and brick walls. We were served promptly and our waitress was very attentive to our every need. I ordered a pizza and my GF ordered a burger. We split them and we enjoyed both. Delightful eatery with charming atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service. Prices were also fantastic for Sunday brunch. Wife and I enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer, the "Create your own Frittata" with beer cheese grits and fruits for our main course, and each tried a mimosa and a Bloody Mary (house made mix). Unfortunate that this restaurant has either changed ownership or chefs because what used to be a wonderful staple food here (their pizza) is now a disaster. They used to serve wonderful thin crust NYC Style Pizza with great quality sauce and cheese and crust . This as of the last 2-3 years is no longer. Now.....the pizza is similar to any gas station carousel pie or bad chain pie. This restaurant is on thin ice I would have to think and I would be surprised if it lasts through the year. Shareable portions on the appetizers. Everything was very well seasoned & made with care. The gluten free pizza crust was thin & crispy and held together very well. As we were passing through Lexington from Western KY to Columbus, Ohio, we decided to stop at The Goose for lunch on a Monday. The place was not crowded, and we were seated immediately. We also immediately noticed that the menu was quite different from the pictures of the menu on Yelp, and that the prices were quite a bit higher! We were hungry and decided to stay, however. My wife had soup and bread, which she says was fine but nothing special. I had the Cuban sandwich, which came with seasoned fries. The fries were very good, probably the best part of the meal. The sandwich was also quite good, but there was something missing compared to other Cubans I had eaten before. In general, the meal was good but not as great as I had hoped after seeing the prices on the menu. Will we stop again? Likely not. Once was enough for us. read more

The Goose is a great local spot for a casual meal and southern hospitality. 2 Bars- one in full AC, and one "indoor/outdoor" bar with fun barrel high tops and a view of the patio. Smoking & dog friendly patio = total Kentucky vibes. They also have a bourbon list that boasted nearly 100 varieties! I enjoyed sitting at a high top and drinking my classic vodka soda; my waiter/bartender, Tom, was attentive, warm and clearly busy though that didn't effect my service one bit. A veteran of a bartender, I presume. My vodka sodas were not for the faint of heart- I had to ask for more soda, and....well, that's saying something! A huge group seemed to be enjoying a casual celebration outside. I appreciated that the staff was professional yet friendly in a truly southern vibe. I ordered the "bruschetta bar" and choose a few different varieties for my bread and crackers. I selected Spinach/Artichoke, Italian Cheese, & Fig Preserves. The spinach and cheese paired so well together- I started mixing them! The fig Preserves were sweet and fresh, but I needed something to accompany that other than just bread. Apple slices would have hit the spot! This newly revamped restaurant seems to be a favorite among the locals. Was here today for a friends birthday party. They accommodated a large party with with no problem. We made reservations in advance. This was my first time in with the new ownership. For appetizers we got fried ravioli and fried pickles & peppers. The ravioli was meat filled and serve with marinara. They were ok, I didn't care for the filling and the marinara, didn't have a much flavor. The banana peppers were great! Loved the crispy coating and the tang of the pepper were perfect. I didn't get a pickle :) Several of the folks around the table got pizza that looked great! The hubby got a burger and fries that he thought was good. This trip is where I was reminded reviews are really subjective. Two of us got the Shrimp and Grits it sounded so good- blackened grilled shrimp with a smoky marinara served on beer cheese grits and fried spinach. The waitress warned me that the blackened seasoning was spicy and I appreciated the heads up. But what I would say about the seasoning was it was briny, the heat was actually a mild spice with a bit a back build. The beer cheese grits were interesting a nice texture but didn't really seem to marry with the shrimp. Loved the fried spinach it was a fun taste and texture...the marinara, once again didn't have much flavor. It all seemed like an odd favor combination to me that just didn't marry well. However, at the other end of the table the person that got the exact same dish, just about licked her plate. When the waitress asked me how it was I said, it just wasn't my taste, she apologized and offered to get me something else, even though I had eaten the majority of the dish, which I thought was really nice and very professional. I was full, I just didn't care for my choice not the fault of the restaurant or chef. I will be back. I want to try the pizza. Tried The Goose out per recommendation of a friend and probably won't go back. The staff was great, very friendly and attentive, but the food was a little expensive for our liking. It was delicious but nothing over the top. I ordered the Apple Bourbon Pork- something I've never tried! The pork was juicy but the sauce was too sweet in my opinion and the Brussel sprouts were way too fried (no green was left on them at all!). Have been to The Goose multiple times in the past and love the patio! Unfortunately, this time the restaurant was understaffed and overpriced compared to previous visits. Ordered appetizers, pizza and drinks and the spinach and artichoke dip had changed from the typical restaurant size container to a small dipping sauce sized container for $10 - overpriced for the portion. Having said this, the pizza was yummy and wasn't overpriced! Our waiter, Fred, was great but didn't have enough help relative to the number of tables/customers on the patio. He was constantly on the go back and forth between tables and the kitchen and definitely put in the effort to make it work. We had spent most of the afternoon walking all over Lexington (such a great walking town!). We were hot, and super sticky from the humidity and as we were walking by the Grey Goose we just had to stop to get some food. The inside is cool and dark with lots of brick and dark wood around the bar, etc. The art is very "horse themed" as you would imagine, but was very cool and would make some good photo ops too! The air conditioning was to die for that day - we just wanted to sit in there forever! The staff was friendly, and service was quick, but then again we were there at about 4:30 so there were very few others in the place. We had an amazing dinner of fish & chips, and a thin, super crispy pizza. Both meals were excellent, and the pizza was more than one person could eat in one sitting (or at least that's me!). We used to go to the Grey Goose a lot so we are enjoying the re-opening as The Goose and the updates that they've made. The menu has gotten a bit more expensive entree wise but everything that we've tried has been tastier and presented more aesthetically than the Grey Goose. Fireplaces are still in action but it seems that they've weatherproofed the side room more and it's not so drafty any more. The roasted beef was delicious as well as the accompanying potatoes and my husband has given good reviews on the two burgers that he's tried off of the menu. Our server (I think Jim) was fantastic and just attentive enough in that perfect present but not overly hovering way. Drinks came out fast as well as the food. Found this little gem after we found parking downtown for a concert. The Grey Goose has an amazing patio outside that looks like a stable. Tv, fans, fresh air, and very Ky. We ordered 2 for 1 drink specials and spinach artichoke dip to start. For dinner my husband has the Caesar Salad. Amazing. He is so picky about dressings and this was impeccable. I ordered the Club and fries. Sea salt, garlic, cracked pepper, rosemary, & Parmesan. Their house made blue cheese and ranch are phenomenal. The only reason we are giving four stars, we never received the artichoke dip and bread. Our server seems forgetful. read more

One of the best patios in Lexington! Went for Happy Hour with friends; happy hour is every day 3-6pm and includes $3 wells, $4 select glasses of wine, and $1 off draft and bottled beer. Would really like to see a few of the appetizers added to the special. A few Grey Goose favorites came off the menu (Grilled Wedge) but some soon-to-be favorites (Toasted Ravioli) have been added. Most of the appetizers are fried, so if you're looking for something a little lighter you could try out the bruschetta bar - you pick your bread base, sauce, then toppings. The Goose Lexington is the perfect Lexington vibe. With a wonderful patio, inviting staff, and good food and drinks it's tough to beat. Having been a few times now, we can really speak to the whole menu, but to highlight a few stay tuned. Toasted ravioli, perfect. A nice, WARM, marinara to pair and plenty to serve up to 4 people. Nothing I hate worse then cold sauce with hot food! Pizzas were great with a beautiful crispy crust and wonderful toppings. And that spicy margarita, yum! I had higher hopes, frankly, based on the internet in terms of menu & pricing. The chicken sandwich was good- but just barely cooked through. The fries were good but inconsistently cooked. The pizza was the star of the show - amazing crust, perfect pepperoni and the tomato/pico/chutney was superb. But (a lot of but commenting in this review is why it's 3 stars) it was INCONSISTENTLY seasoned so that one bite might be super salty and another a bit bland. It was drastically over cheesed such that entire sections weren't properly melted. There's a potential here to be outstanding but it's mistakes get in the way. read more
