I have been here a few time before and I have never been compelled to write a review because the place had terrible service - both from the bartenders and the bouncers. The vibe always seemed super elitist - the place opened doors only for rich kids and high ballers. I was here a couple of weekends ago, and the place was completely empty and close to ending the night. The folks at the bar were very chilled out and atmosphere seemed super relaxed. With this location, the views are hard to beat. With no other hot sweaty bodies juggling me around (as it usually is the case) and no booming music in my ears, I could actually stop and feel the amazing wind and take in the scene - it was just awesome! The bartenders made some tasty and very mildly alcoholic shots and needless to say all drinks were over priced and watered down. It was a very pleasant 45 minutes that I spent here - super loungy and relaxed. Based on my varied experiences, it's hard for me to justify anything but a 3 star rating, but I will definitely be back to hang out some more! read more

Don't stay here. It's an old building so be prepared for paper thin walls, ceilings, etc. Pipes rattle very loudly when you pull hot water after a period of time. Things on the outside seem glitzy and glamorous, but once you're there you start to notice lots of little things that diminish your experience. The service was okay, but for the price I expected something more refined and respectful. Stay at the Ritz. Parking is valet only. $58 a day, which is insane. I come to DC frequently on business and typically stay at the Ritz Carlton in G'town. Thought I would try the Graham. The Ritz is Marriott; Graham is Hilton. Unfortunately the difference can be easily seen, as Marriott has their high-end hotel gig sorted out. Hilton, not so much. While the Graham sure appears like a nice boutique type hotel, beneath the surface, well, it's much like an airport Hilton. Aside from the fairly nice rooms, the service is lacking (try getting someone on the phone). I was there for 2 days, was out of the room for 3-5 hours each day, and always removed the "Do Not Disturb" sign when I left. Never saw housekeeping. They never even left a note or called to ask if I needed anything. The rooftop bar is certainly nice and has views. It's one of the only "bars" I've ever been to where the actual bar has NO bar stools. There are some high-top tables and lounges. The first night, I got there about 2 hours after it had opened and was told the beers were warm. Drinks were sloppily made, just ok, and several overflowed. The bar top was wet, from the messy drinks, and in the hour stood at the bar it was never wiped down. The bar back was very busy though, checking all the girls out. No worries, they have a downstairs "speakeasy" where you need a code to get in. Rather contrived but, whatever. We decided to go there the next night. No dice. Closed for a "private Hilton company party". No hotel guest access. We were told they would probably re-open around 9:30. We went out for dinner and returned around 11:30. Closed. Both bars. Which may have been a blessing in disguise as we found a fun and lively Irish pub around the corner and had a great time. Bottom line...you're staying at a Hilton so don't expect much. You get location and high room prices for a mediocre experience. read more

Gorgeous views. Mediocre and disappointing wait staff. Unremarkable food and drinks. My significant other made a reservation here for my birthday. Upon arriving, it took the business 10 minutes to seat him. The waiters directed him to the bar, the bar to the waiters. No one took ownership of attending to him. Disappointing but not a killer. When I arrived, I was surprised to see that we were not seated by the more spectacular views given the reservation. We had to go around the corner to the back side where, for a beautiful day it was nice, but lackluster given what we had just witnessed. But again, understandable because the tables by the best views appeared to be for large parties (and one glance at the menu suggested there was a $500+ fee). I had the frosé and my boyfriend the lemonade-like moscow mule. They were both fine. We shared the ceviche appetizer which was pretty small but tasty. Our waitress really didn't attend to us nor did she ignore us. Just merely indifferent. The back where we were was pretty empty with the exception of 3 other small parties so no reason to not eagerly take to us. When we asked to have our drinks refilled, she had forgotten my boyfriend's name on the tab. It just seemed like the staff was... Bored? We came, enjoyed each other's company for an hour, then left. We both really wanted to like it more but given our experience (and for the price), probably won't be attending again. There did appear to be regulars and more socialites that were having fun so maybe it just wasn't our crowd. Great location - within walking distance to lots of cool shops, bars, restaurants. It's a tiny historic hotel in the heart of Georgetown - had a "speakeasy" bar downstairs with jazz music on weekends (make reservations in advance!) and a cool rooftop bar with a great view. The staff and service was great - it's under the Hilton collection so nice that it has some brand name accountability but still is a super unique experience. Room was a tad tiny (in DC, so to be expected) but aside from that the inside was deluxe - overall a great experience! read more

As a Georgetown local I came here on the Monday night of Memorial Day. The man at the front desk let us up to the rooftop. We sat at a table for well over 10 mins without even being acknowledged. I would have been ok if service took longer but no one even stopped. We can get better service elsewhere so we stood up to leave and while waiting for the elevator, the waitress sat someone at the table I just left and offered to take pictures of the couple. With a variety of Georgetown bars, I will not come back here and I will tell any friends or tourists to go elsewhere! In fact...take note of better places...Cut at Rosewood Hotel, Imperfecto, Cafe Milano, Fiola Mare, Martins, Bourbon Steak at Four Seasons...better options are all around! read more

Stayed here for one night for NYE. The hotel is very cute, well kept and the service is outstanding. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. The front desk upgraded us to a suite with no extra charge. Our bed, bathroom and the room itself was huge, considering this is a boutique hotel and not your typical Marriott or Ritz. Our stay also came with a breakfast from their speakeasy. I don't think this is typical, this was offered because of the New Year. We loved this hotel because it was a great access to Georgetown, as you walk out of the front lobby, you're only a few steps away from M street, which is where the stores/restos/bars are in Georgetown. We're pretty low key folks, so it was just nice to walk around and check out Georgetown Glow which was displayed in the vicinity. I'd definitely stay here again! We arrived to The Graham exhausted after a flight across the country. The desk clerk tells us that our reservation was cancelled the night before because our "card was declined." This is a lie. I have the PAID FOR reservation on my phone and I show it to the desk clerk. It doesn't matter. "We are fully committed" she says, showing that she gives zero F's about the fact that it's ten o'clock at night and I and my seventeen-year-old daughter now have to find a place to sleep. This place is shit. When I told a guest about our plight, she told me that I'd be better off staying some place else because the elevator was broken. We think that they cancelled our reservation without calling us to notify us because we paid for the room with a combination of miles and money and they bounced us in favor of someone willing to pay full freight. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! BTW-we managed to get a room at the Georgetown Inn, about six blocks away. The rooms need freshening but the desk clerk and staff couldn't have been nicer and soooo outraged on our behalf about how we were treated. read more

My friends and I came to the The Graham Rooftop bar after almost 4hrs of it being open for their Friday evening shift. The staff was not prepared and bartender (Tony) was not considerate of his customers. Out of the IPA selections, only one was ready to be served and barely chilled. This is not a business hotel. I could see it being fun for a girls trip, but the club-y atmosphere at the door (complete with velvet rope on some nights) thanks to the roofdeck bar was the last thing I wanted to deal with after returning home at 1 am after 16+ hours of work. We stayed here for several weeks, but at the end of our stay, the staff was no closer to recognizing us and we still got stopped by the "bouncer" every time we entered the hotel. A colleague and I did go up to the roofdeck bar to check it out and it was nice in a scene-y way - nice view of DC with kind of a Miami vibe and a strange mix of people that made for great people-watching. Drinks were super expensive. The rooms were pretty nice. Beds were super comfortable. I didn't interact much with housekeeping but have no complaints about them. I did find it odd that every time I returned home my TV (which had previously been off) was turned on to the weather channel (on mute) and there was classical music blasting from the alarm clock radio. I also suspect that they changed my towels every day, despite me regularly leaving them hanging on the rack and not on the floor (the signal for "don't replace the towel" according to their conservation sign). There is free wifi and it worked decently well (strangely it worked really well at the foot of the bed but not at the head of the bed). They also have a "high speed wifi" for $10 a day and I did not like that that was the default when you logged on, you had to affirmatively select the free option. read more

Rude staff who seem amateur. Limited restaurant menu, 4 entrees, 4 appetizers , 4 salads and 4 deserts and they were out of frites for the steak and frites. We had a good waiter, but the hotel staff, bar staff and security were ass clowns. While waiting for our $35 valet parked car to be retrieved, after spending $300 at the bar and restaurant, they tried to chase us out of the lobby. Double charged for my upcoming reservation. They put an extra charge for the full reservation on my credit card ($1,062) and it's been nearly a week now, yet no one in their billing department seems to care. I've called several times and contested with my credit card company, taking an enormous amount of my time. How hard is this? You double charged me in error. Credit my account NOW. Of course the woman I spoke with twice last week at the hotel after claiming she was "staying on it" has now left to enjoy her weekend while I continue to incur finance charges on $1,062 that was fraudulently charged to my credit card. Never ever staying in a Hilton ever again but we're stuck this time. This is supposed to be a fun trip back east to tour colleges with my daughter. What a great welcome to DC. 3/6/19 update - I posted a similar complaint on TripAdvisor and the head of sales and marketing for this hotel, Christopher McRoy, actually posted a response that said "her rate was nonrefundable and we have credited her for the double charge." Both of those things are untrue. It was simply a reservation for which the Graham charged an "advance reservation" -- no special discounted rate or anything and certainly not "nonrefundable." Who would make a regular reservation nonrefundable in any event? Also -- on day 9 now and still no refund. They tell me they requested it on Saturday. Nope. Nothing. Not sure what I have to do to be heard by these people. And after complaining bitterly to him that he essentially flat out lied in his response to my TripAdvisor review, Christopher McRoy caved and took his response down. Of course he argued with me when he called me to "apologize" but he admitted he hadn't researched at all whether I had a "nonrefundable" rate. He had no choice but to take his lies down. And now I'm on day 10 with no refund of the double charge. It's incredible. There's no way in h*ll I am ever staying at a Hilton ever again. read more

This is review is for the Hotel, not the rooftop bar or restaurant - both of those well worth your time; staff, ambience, food, drinks, views - ALL superb! I would not recommend related to surprisingly rude staff and dismal customer service. We spent three nights in Washington for a graduation weekend with over 20 other people. A lack of communication with our host who had reserved a large block of rooms caused The Graham Hotel to charge us for a one-night No Show fee, which is the full cost of room. We went ahead and checked in so that we could be with our group, and purchased a total of three additional nights amongst our family. Our larger group had approximately 10 rooms all staying 3 nights. So with at least 33 room nights purchased, not to mention a private roof top party and private restaurant dinner - they WOULD NOT BEND on reversing a charge for a single missed night. Besides the principle of it, the attitude was bizarre and as far from gracious and appreciative of the business that I have ever dealt with. Because of the size of the group some people were staying in rooms that advertised Roll Away beds, but then the hotel stated that they had no linens for those beds., and it was a scramble in the wee hours of the morning to find a way to get beds made. In addition several of the rooms had no working Air Conditioning; the dial for my Son's AC was literally shards of plastic and there was no way to turn it on. The final insult was that on check out day, after staying for two nights and a DO NOT DISTURB plaque on the door - housekeeping staff attempted to enter my room at 7:45am, 8:30am and again at 9. CHECK OUT is supposedly 11 - but again, it seems once they have your credit card, you are far from a "guest" at the Graham Hotel. The Pros of the Graham are the perfect Georgetown location, the rooftop bar and restaurant staff. I won't be back, and I would not recommend any group events at this hotel. read more

So I realllllly wanted to love the Graham and, to be clear, my stay and the rooftop bar were both amazing. However, I was very disappointed when I found an erroneous charge to my account. I called the hotel to dispute the claim and the woman said she would talk to her manager... I never heard back and ended up having to formally dispute the charge with Bank of America. First, the accommodations are great for DC. My room was spacious and clean. My room included a large separate living area, a large bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and double sinks, and a bedroom with a large king-sized bed. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept better at the Graham than I have in many other hotels. Second, the roof top bar is fantastic. The atmosphere is very laid-back and it is so nice to hang out on the roof after a long day. Drinks are pricey but certainly not outrageous for a hotel in DC ($16.50 for a margarita with Patron). Honestly, I was ready to write a rave review for the Graham, but the erroneous mini-bar charge (I didn't even know there was a mini-bar in the room) really left a sour taste in my mouth. I might stay here again just to give them another chance, but I definitely will scrutinize carefully my bill! read more

I have never encountered such terrible service in my life. Avoid at all costs. I've never posted here before but it was just THAT bad. The Graham had been a go-to spot for myself and friends. However, upon interacting with a server at their downstairs speakeasy (The Alex) we were so shocked and uncomfortable that we will never go back. This server (not sure the name, a short woman with straight brown hair working the evening of January 9th) was rude, made our experience extremely unpleasant, and made several discriminatory remarks. From the moment we sat down she was short with us, refusing to take our order by saying the bar was closed, while still serving other tables, including our friends who were sat nearby. We went to talk to the bartender and he was confused because the bar was NOT closed and offered to take our order. Then, she came over and tried to tell him not to, with him again appearing very confused. We pointed out how uncomfortable she was making our party and asked why we were being treated differently than our friends at a different table. Rather than apologizing or retracting her statements, she appeared to get angry and threatened to call security. She stated that she wouldn't serve anyone in our party because one person had what she called an 'invalid' ID (i.e. not American), even though we clearly were of age and besides the one international all had United States IDs which she and the bartender had previously accepted, showing that we were of age. When the international tried to calm her down by saying she was fine not drinking, the server still refused to serve the of age Americans with valid identification. When we decided to calmly leave to go elsewhere due to how unpleasant this woman was, she sped walked directly behind us, as though she was chasing us, and said "Are you DONE?" in a sarcastic tone, following us up through the lobby and yelling after us, getting angrier and angrier as she failed to elicit a reaction... we were absolutely in shock. This was not normal. This was not okay. Our manner towards her remained incredibly polite throughout this interaction and there was no reason for her to harass us. I'm not sure if she was experiencing a personal problem or having a bad night, but that is NOT an excuse to treat anyone the way she treated us. I have never experienced that type of treatment, was utterly lost as to why she was so aggressive towards our party, and hope no one else has the displeasure of interacting with her. None of us will ever be returning to the Graham with her as an employee and we will be sure to warn others. read more

After a spontaneous road trip to Georgetown, we decided to stay the night and booked a room at The Graham, since it was just a block from where we were eating. It's on a real cute street, and perfect location. it's got a 'regal' feel to it, and the staff was super friendly. The room was nice - small, but a luxurious touch. The only problem - No Air conditioning. I mean...the whole point of getting a room at a hotel, you want to be comfortable. Unfortunately, this was not possible, despite how nice the ambiance. The air was stifling, even with the window open, and it was a toss and turn kind of night - you know, when you wake up drenched in sweat. It was really too bad...for $200, you'd expect some air flow, no? Otherwise, we had a nice stay in G-Town, just not sure we'll come back to Mr. Graham. Ah well, upward and onward...we'll surely miss the outside bar by the river, and Chowder at Farmers Fishers Bakers! read more

This review is for the downstairs "speakeasy" bar. Overall the 1920s theme really worked for what would otherwise be a rather cramped space. There was a cool vibe and I liked that the waitstaff allowed us to enjoy our cocktails and not have to constantly ask us if we needed anything else. On the other hand, we did wait a little too long for our menus & our drinks even though the bar was not yet full. As for the drinks themselves, I thought the bathtub gin and tonic served in a mini bathtub was a very cute idea, but other than that I don't know why I paid $14 for a drink that wasn't very much alcohol at all. My friend, on the other hand, ordered "The Most" which was very tasty but literally burned the back of my mouth when I went to take a sip it was so strong. All things considered, I will be coming back here once the rooftop bar is open because of the cool vibe - but I'll order differently next time. read more

Stay at the palomar- it's just as nice and when I checked in with my hypoallergenic dog they were so accommodating. Where to begin. Want a place that nickels and dimes you, you've found a match. I've never had a hotel that had availability try to upcharge me $50 to check in an hour early. Then, because I seemed so nice, we have a special room for you. Neglected to mention that it was right next to the "fitness center" where we would hear the clanking of dumbbells against our wall and the loud chatter of hotel staff and friends talking loudly late into the night. Oh wait, we have a nice rooftop bar. Beers are only $11.00 a pop and then, even though there was no one in the place, they kicked us out of our seats because they were "reserved" for an event. Literally, we were the only people there that weren't staff. Warm water for a decompressing shower, nope! Complained to the front desk about the noise with no resolution. This place is a joke. Very disappointed. If you find a deal and need a place to crash, maybe. If you are looking for a good experience, look elsewhere. Heed my warning, you will be pissed. read more

As many of the other reviewers may have noted, there is a very subjective entry for the rooftop. For us, coming after work, we had on business and business casual clothing with flat shoes. We were rudely told by Chris the doorman that we would not be allowed access to the observatory. We had witnessed already a few people already go up that had on athletic wear, sneakers and jeans. We asked to speak to the hotel manager and Cecilia told us that the people we saw were hotel guests and they could dress however. Interestingly enough, this pretentious hotel was listed on hotels tonight ($190 - cheeky considering their attitude) and while we were still talking to her, we informed her that we were indeed hotel guests. Once she realized this, Cecilia's demeanor changed and she began to back pedal and apologize. The doorman never did and had the audacity to insist we try to basement bar instead. Once we went upstairs, we did speak to the patrons whom were dressing in athletic wear and they were not guests of the hotel. For a mediocre view of a portion of the key bridge, ice laden drinks and clubby music with smokers lighting up everywhere, not worth a repeat visit at all. Wonderful, boutique hotel. Close to everything. Loccataine toiletries, Starbucks Keurig, beautiful marble bathroom, and super-comfy bed. Good selection of tv channels and plenty of USB ports. I would definitely give the hotel 5 stars if it wasn't pushing $300 a night, but for that amount, I expect a slightly larger room with more frills. If you're in the DC area on your company's dime, by all means, stay here. read more

We stayed at the Graham this past weekend. The location is perfect, the staff were curteous and helpful, and the hotel itself is clean and quaint. We had a snafu on the first night (FYI do not stay in room 108 on weekends-it's above the speak easy and can get loud), but Thane, the concierge, went above and beyond to make sure the rest of our stay was superb. I was pretty upset the first night and intended on rebooking elsewhere the second night, but Thane's customer service was impeccable and made the rest of our stay worth it! (Also, got a great, quiet night sleep the second night!). Do check out the speakeasy even if you don't stay there-- the drinks were yummy and the live jazz was fantastic. read more
