An absolute small town gem. I wouldn't have even ventured this far out if it were for the Saline Facebook group and someone posting about their Friday AYCE fish dinners! Now, that piqued my interest! We've been twice so far and each time have had a good experience and the ice cream cake special (so that's a must have). Also, I have to respect that they know how to deep fry dang well. Their pickle chips are perfection, their onion rings, pub chips, their perch (that cornmeal crust - not a soggy bit in sight!!). Best restaurant in Bridgewater! Ok, ok...it's the only restaurant in Bridgewater, but it is a phenomenal food pub! Not pretentious. You hang with the local farmers for a no-fuss food experience. PUB CHIPS BETTER THAN FRIES The pub chips are made in-house and are phenomenal. The waffle fries aren't bad but you gotta go for those chips!!! RIB-EYE STEAK HOAGIE - OMG, super delicious! My wife ordered and I only got a bite. It was big, greasy, unhealthy and crave worthy. PERCH SPECIAL - The fish was really good and tender. There was a lot of fish too, so you won't go hungry. Good tarter sauce but ask for an extra one to be sure you have enough. BURGERS - Rated as top 5 spots for burgers across Michigan! You won't go wrong with a burger. Don't hesitate to get an egg on your beef patty. CORNED BEEF REUBEN SANDWICH - My mom's favorite. COLESLAW - I don't like coleslaw at most places but this stuff rocks! It was smooth without the normal "bite". LOADED POTATO SKINS - real potatoes with most of the innards scooped out and replaced with tons of cheese and bacon bits. These were not bad but I wouldn't order again. FAST TAKE-OUT - We ordered food as takeout and it was ready within 15 min of calling in the order! This place puts "Voted Best Tavern in Bridgewater" on their menu - so it must be good, right? :) The best part is, I don't think that there's another Tavern in Bridgewater, so by default, they are it. The place is always busy. I'd say that the $1 coneys, cheap other foods, and decent beers and prices help them out. It's tough out there... and these guys will make it just a little easier on you. The staff is friendly and hard-working, and the food is about average. My turkey noodle soup was quite salty, but otherwise had a good flavor. The corn bread was sent through the microwave, so it was a little rubbery towards the end. I think that for $1.25 I'd expect a little better. The coneys were just what you wanted them to be - especially for $1. The cheese is an extra $0.50 though - that seems a little high for just a sprinkle. I mean, that's 50% of the cost of the coney! :) Overall, decent place to hang w/ locals if you are in the area. Oh, and the bathroom is FAR nicer than expected. Usually I'm a little nervous about hitting the bathroom in places like this - but fear not, it's clean and has been remodeled in this century. Well, maybe last... but towards the end. read more

My wife's burger was good and cooked medium well as ordered. The goulash special which is cheese rather than sour cream based was quite good as well. Our server, who has been at the Tavern for more than 20 years was very attentive and friendly. Quaint, comfortable atmosphere for a bar setting and the music isn't too loud. The homemade chips are tasty, but were room temperature rather than warm. Coffee was made fresh, but (in my opinion as a former restaurant manager) a bit weak, and should be served with half and half (you can by room temperature stable half and half) rather than artificial creamer. Overall it was a good experience and we will likely return in the future. read more

This local secret boasts excellent service and top quality food typically found in downtown Ann Arbor. The beer selection is also excellent with many microbrews you wouldn't think a pub like this would have (with some, like Bell's Oberon, on tap). Now, let's review the food! What we usually got here for a long time were the burgers...flavorful, delicious, what you would expect. One day I tried their quesadilla and I've not looked back. The chicken quesadilla has huge hunks of fresh cooked chicken and just enough cheese and they'll add olives, onions or whatever else you like to them at no extra charge. The steak quesadilla is loaded with Philly cheesesteak style beef that is so delectable it's ridiculous. The salsa it comes with appears to be some sort of homemade- it's good. Maybe not homemade here, but it's fresh style (more of a pico de gallo). The sweet potato fries are pretty good, probably from frozen but here's a tip- ask for a container of mayo mixed with horseradish, then add a bit of ketchup for the sweet potato fries sauce they have at SideTrack in Ypsi's Depot town. The Reuben/corned beef is stacked with high quality corned beef with very little fat. But that does not reduce the flavor one bit! It was amazing. More review later when we've had more on their menu. I am pretty sure you could order anything and you will be pleasantly surprised. Karaoke (with a great selection!) every other Saturday night at 9 PM. Typically the kitchen closes at 9, too. So if you are from A2, get out here soon as you can! read more

The new owners of the pub are three young women entrepreneurs who were waiting tables at this tavern and when the original owner decided to retire, they decided to buy the old owner out. This pub is in the middle of nowhere and it manages to always be busy! This pub is Ann Arbor's best kept secret. Friday's fish fry is always the best with all-you-can-eat fish for just $14. There is a decent beer tap selection and a stocked liquor bar. It's a little out of the way but if you crave that small town feel and wish to talk to strangers, this is the place to be. read more

We've driven by here countless times on the way to Michigan Speedway, and always comment "Some day, we'll have to try that place out." Well, some day finally came. The regular menu was what you would expect from a bar (e.g. burgers, limited Mexican), but there were several interesting daily specials on the chalk board. They have a good selection of beers, which along with the mixed drinks were very reasonably priced. We stuck with the menu for our entrees, and were vey happy with the resulting chimichanga and chicken sandwich. We went off the board to share a dessert, and ended up fighting over an extremely tasty bread pudding. The waitress was friendly and very attentive. We'll definitely be back. read more

We have been wanting to try this place for sometime. So last night we were trying to think of somewhere to go for dinner. We took the short drive from Tecumseh to Bridgewater. The Tavern was jam packed. We were greeted by the very attractive bartender who offered us a drink while waited for a table. We were seated shortly. i ordered a blu olive burger and my wife got the reuben. Both were great. I loved the burger it was prepared perfectly and just the right size. My wife said the reuben was one of the best she ever had. Our waitress was very attentive even though she was taking care of many other tables. The food was excellent. There were some service problems however. I guess there were two new ladies in the kitchen. It took an hour and a half to get out food. The kitchen accidentally delivered one of our meals to another table. The waitress forgot things. But in fairness, they had her running to death. It was super packed and we felt really bad for her so we tipped her extra. I think I would give it another chance. So this tavern is in the quaint town of Bridgewater (Saline, MI mailing address). Yes, out in the middle of nowhere and the best drive you'll ever make. They have a great menu. To date I have never had a bad meal there. The owners are three women who know how to run a restaurant. They care about their customers. This place has a nice atmosphere and is busy, but that does not equate to slow service. If you are tired of paying high dollar for great food (this isn't your typical "bar" food), look no further.
