Ordered two chicken entrees. Food was good, just not the price. The pics of the menu are outdated, nothing on the website either. Paid over $60 for two entrees and the portions don't match the price. The staff was incredibly pushy from before we even entered the building, coming outside to pressure us into eating while we were reading the menu. Delicious, well-seasoned authentic Turkish food. Our favorites were the babaganoush, lentil soup, fresh lemonade, and the stuffed sundried eggplant was outstanding. Met friends here pre-theater. Cozy space. The staff were nice. They were into clearing plates as soon as they thought someone had finished instead of waiting for everyone to finish. This makes slower eaters feel rushed. The food was OK. My wife had a few rubbery pieces of chicken in her chicken and eggplant entree. I don't even know where to start with how frustrating this experience was, but I'll try to lay it all out clearly. From the moment we walked in, things already felt off. There was no real greeting, no sense that anyone was actually paying attention to guests arriving. Eventually, someone acknowledged us, but instead of walking us to a table like you would expect at any halfway decent restaurant, they just vaguely pointed across the room and said something along the lines of "sit there." No guidance, no effort--just a dismissive gesture. It honestly felt more like we were inconveniencing them by being there. We went over to the table that was indicated, and it wasn't even ready. It was still dirty from the previous guests, with no proper place settings. So we stood there awkwardly for a bit before sitting down, assuming someone would come right over to clean it and set it up. That assumption turned out to be completely wrong. It took an absurd amount of time for anyone to come by and even begin cleaning the table. And when they finally did, it wasn't like they were apologetic or trying to make up for the delay--it felt slow, careless, and completely indifferent. Even after wiping things down, we were left sitting there without proper dinner placements for way longer than should ever happen. Then came the most basic failure of all: no water. Not even a quick "I'll be right with you" or a glass of water to start. We just sat there. And sat there. And sat there. Thirty minutes. Thirty full minutes of being completely ignored. No one came over to take our order. No one checked in to see if we were ready. No one asked if we needed anything. It was like we were invisible. Meanwhile, staff were moving around the restaurant, clearly aware of other tables, but somehow we were just... not worth their time. At a certain point, it stopped being confusing and just became insulting. There's a difference between a place being busy and a place completely neglecting its customers, and this was firmly the latter. Eventually, we just looked at each other, realized this was going nowhere, and decided to leave. And the final touch really summed up the entire experience: the same person who had lazily pointed us to our table at the start actually held the door open for us as we walked out--without a single word of apology, acknowledgment, or even basic courtesy. It felt less like hospitality and more like they were perfectly fine seeing us go. I've honestly never experienced service this poor. It wasn't just one mistake--it was a complete breakdown at every single step: no proper seating, no table preparation, no basic service, no communication, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are too many other restaurants out there that actually value their customers' time and presence. Fantastic service!! And really good food!! This is authentic Turkish food and it was tasty! We ordered the lamb chops and ravioli. The lamb chomps were cooked good, the meat was seasoned well. Unfortunately the back garden is down a few steps and it's now mostly enclosed. Bathroom is not wheelchair accessible. First time that I tried Turkish food and I was surprised how delicious it was!!! Started with a salad that the server recommended and a fresh lemonade, we had the avocado hummus with pita bread and for the main course I don't remember the name but was amazing!!! We were persuaded to come in by the extremely sweet owner! And we did not regret it! Our server was also extremely helpful. They also gave us free Turkish tea on the house!! The food was filling and decent portions for NY prices. The ambiance was dark with Turkish music (?), and there a lot of close-up black & white portraits/National Geographic looking photos. Overall, my experience here was really good! We started with the sampler which had five different dips with pita bread and each were great. For the entree we did the mixed grill for two. It was really good, my only critique is that it was a little more expensive than it needed to be. But it's New York, so hard to fault them for that. Also the sangria is a must order if you go there. We met friends visitng from out of town at Turkish Cuisine for lunch last Friday. We had a wonderful time, and the food was great. One friend is a vegetarian, and he was very happy with his lunch, as were the rest of us. The waitress was lovely and friendly, and when we asked if she could take a few photos of our group, she was more than willing. The decorations make you feel like you are sitting in a Turkish restaurant. Since we were there at an off-time and it wasn't very busy, we sat and ate and chatted for several hours and never felt like we were being rushed. It certainly is a nice restaurant, and it's very convenient to the Theatre District. It was not our first time eating there, and it won't be our last either! read more

I had not read the polarized Yelp reviews prior to visiting. A friend wanted to visit so along I went. Overall, in consideration of the COVID-19 environment, I am comfortable with a five star rating: Service: was overly attentive. I can appreciate others who interpret it as pushy. I see it more like warm Turkish hospitality combined with a general lack of other customers to spend time with. It felt like they were proud of their food/drink offerings and would suggest their own alternatives. I can appreciate how others could view it as bill padding. For me, I took it as unusually blunt opinions/an expression of pride. I was given two plates of food, unannounced and without charge, as they wanted to show off their latest two dishes. Prices: I agree prices are higher than customary. That said, the food was above average as well - some dishes were excellent. I agree the desert potions are a bit small, especially the baklava. Ambiance: I think the restaurant has a nice authentic feel to it. The seats are a bit uncomfortable if one sits for a long period of time. The restrooms could do with a renovation. Otherwise, lighting was great and service for the night was top notch. The decore is cute and cozy. And very reasonably priced compared to most restaurants in the city. But the thing that put it over the top was the service! You feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door! We are not an easy party to handle, not only did we have a four year old and a very fussy one year old, but we also come with a long list of allergies between us. I have walked by this place for years and never gone in. Finally I checked it out a few weeks ago and was so happy I did. The place is a bit small and it feels family-run, which means it has a homey vibe and food/service is not mass produced, but it also is not super fast. BUT the food was definitely worth the wait. The waiter kept correcting our order - if you like that, you should try this. Instead of that dish, order this, it's better.
