Dropped by at 2pm on a Friday for Happy Hour! We ordered a variety of appetizers and smaller mains, including the Greek salad, spanakopita, chicken gyro, prawn skewer platter, lamb and beef meatballs. Came here as part of their "Fan Favourites" Promotion. We tried the moussaka, and lamb youvetsi. Both came out great and quite tasty. The Dip Trio was kind of a disappointment in what you get for the price (and there is never enough bread...) but it was a good starter. I think I would pick something else next time. The biggest disappointment was their Baklava. It was not crispy at all, and it was just not very good. Absolutely loved the experience. After a long flight and a long day, I had a very chill dinner of delicious food with the friendliest service. I made a reservation but had to change it last minute and they were so nice about it. My friend ordered a greek salad and spanakopita while I ordered the souvlaki platter. Everything was amazing! Her salad was full of fresh veggies and a home made dressing that I wish they'd bottle and sell. Spanakopita was crisp and perfectly baked. My platter was so full of flavor. The veggies tossed in a kind of tomato sauce, chicken grilled well, the potatoes with the right amount of lemon. I definitely recommend! Stopped in for appetizers on a Saturday night. They were busy and there was a little bit of a wait but we were able to get in without reservations which was nice. The vibe inside is cool...we sat upstairs overlooking the string lights below. They have a decent but not overwhelming variety of options and we finally decided on the calamari (regular although they have a vegan version too that intrigued me) and the spicy baked feta dip with banana peppers topped with blistered tomatoes. The calamari was great - perfectly fried and the tzatziki made a good dipping accompaniment. The feta dip was good as well. Greek place (surprise, surprise) in Gastown, right by Maple Leaf Square. Parking is pretty awful here. Not sure what to say. The inside is pretty modern and classy, with a mezzanine as well. However, on a summer day, the street patio is pretty awesome. Honestly I felt I was on vacation, with the bustling pedestrian area. Staff were friendly and professional. No complaints. Pricing is a wee bit high, but this is Gastown after all. My group of 3 polished off 2 2-person platters without much difficulty. Meat and skewers (souvlaki) were of good quality. Most of the filler was of rice, with some potatoes and some cooke vegetable chunks (peppers, zucchini). Both platters were served with souvlaki. Wouldn't mind eating here again, though a big eater can probably clear out a 2 person platter without much difficulty. read more

It was a delicious meal. I love coming to The Greek! Their sangria is also delicious. The service van be hit or miss depending on the night if they're busy. The ambiance is kind of the same. If it's a slower night, I find that it'll be more calm. On busy days like Friday and Saturday, the music is turned up really loud and the lighting is dimmed. read more

As someone who's been to both the Greek locations, this one is absolutely my favourite. I hosted a celebration dinner here and I can't even exaggerate when I say that it was the best special occasion dinner I've ever had. The ambiance is so cozy. The food was all really good. I especially like the new pork dish that they serve with fries (I forgot the name) and the platters are all amazing too. They have a house-made tzatziki that I think about ALL THE TIME. The drinks are also amazing, I've tried quite a couple off their cocktail menu, and they hit the mark every time. The espresso martini deserve their own shoutout. Absolutely incredible. However, what made this place the best special occasion dinner I've ever had was the service provided by Adam and Olivia!!! Beginning to end, the service was so impressive. I don't think I've ever dined at a local restaurant that made me feel so at home and taken care of. I felt like they went through lengths to make it felt special. We even brought in a cake that got smushed during transit and they did their best to fix it up for me and it looked impressively amazing. Seriously saved my night. I was in Vancouver for a night and ended up meeting a beautiful date who wanted to take me to the Greek. It was an awesome spot right in downtown with a very cool ambiance. All the servers were super friendly and personable. One Ukrainian server came up before my date showed up and told me her life story. It was an incredible and humbling. My date and I split The Greek salad and the trio pita dip. It was plenty, and we had leftovers she took home. We split some dessert recommended by our server, but it was just meh. Great food and service! We came in with a party of 7 people and they went out of their way to accommodate us even though we didn't have a reservation. 5 of us walked into this restaurant without a reservation and was sat right away. We were drawn in by the 40% off house wines on Mondays and Tuesdays and opted for a decent bottle of red. The ambiance was great, except I wish the music was a little less loud. The service was great too - my partner asked our server to chill the wine after tasting it because it was too warm and they were very willing to do it. Now for the food. I was disappointed by the potatoes that were served with the braised lamb shank. Potatoes have a certain "chewy" quality if they're stale, and these potatoes certainly had that... I was expecting a bit more from a restaurant that charges $30 for a lamb shank that is 75% bone. Granted, the meat part itself was quite good. read more

Stopped by today (Monday) for a late lunch around 2:00pm. The restaurant was empty but still open for lunch! We got seated right away but our server was basically on the phone for the majority of the time. We made a reservation a week in advance, and when we arrived, the staff at the restaurant guided us to the second floor. We asked if we could sit on the first floor, but they told us that those tables were already reserved. There were about four empty tables on the first floor, and since we had a reservation too, we ended up sitting on the patio. Even by the time we finished eating and left, two tables on the first floor remained empty the entire time. I'm still wondering why they leave those tables empty and told us not available! If you're looking for a lesson in how not to run a restaurant, look no further. We were seated after an absurd 5-minute wait, even though the place wasn't fully booked. Once seated, it took another 5 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge our existence. After waiting a full 10 minutes without any service, we watched in utter disbelief as the waitress casually took shots and vaped outside. Clearly, customer service is a foreign concept here. We went last night to this location for the first time, we usually go to Yaletown. The food was as good as its always been, but I didn't care for the vibe very much. The music was WAY TOO LOUD and frankly, most of the staff was having too much fun. I'm all for happy employees, but make sure it's within reason. This place was too much of a party scene for me. The outside of the building is wonderfully presented, with tasteful lettering and neon. As soon as you come in the staff are welcoming and there's a strong sense of atmosphere. I love the octopus here that I went twice in a week! I brought friends who never had octopus like this and they all loved it. Honestly, maybe it was a bad day, maybe it was bad choices on the menu. But regardless I thought the food and drinks were below bar. I know people have rated it highly, but I just can't. I guess for me the difference between excellence and mediocrity is consistency of quality. I can only conclude it was a bad Saturday night. I am not sure if I will ever return, the octopus was not what I had expected, I was expecting a grilled octopus on a bed of something or even plain with some lemon and bread. I would have been over the moon, but I received what looked like pressure cooked stew octopus, and that was poorly done. Visiting here for my wife's birthday. She wanted a good Greek restaurant our hotel suggested the Greek at Gastown. Very disappointing. The calamari slimy and felt very undercooked like chewing a piece of rubber band. They took it back and took it off my bill. That's the only thing I appreciate of the Greek at Gastown, the lamb youvetsi again had some portions of lamb that felt as if I was chewing on rubber. My daughters roasted pork had more fat than meat again very disappointing probably the worst $85 I've ever spent and the service is horrible. You don't know who's serving you. Somebody comes out from the kitchen put some plates on the table and then there's another lady that comes around and ask you how you're doing. My suggestion don't waste your time or your money. There's a lot better Greek food out there as a matter of fact, I wouldn't even dare call this Greek food, how sad. I ordered a souvlaki and the salmon and pork were flavourful although the salmon was a bit dry. The rice and pita bread were solid and the Greek salad added a refreshing touch. I liked how the restaurant serves in a tin box - I thought that was really cute! Portion is decent, but I won't say super filling. Our server was very friendly. She pushed a little on the alcohol, but that's understandable given the 40% off lunch meals. Drinks are not included in the deal. The issue is the food took SOOO long. We came at 12:15pm and didn't get our food until 1pm. Our whole table was starving. A family of 4 came in after us and got their food before we did. Perhaps we had a big group? Overall, a fantastic place for a lunch. The food is very tasty. I wouldn't come here if I was in a rush.
