Tofu Scramble Wrap + Tofu Bacon
    Taylor M.

Been wanting to try this place and finally did today! Very loud inside. There were a lot of tables filled up, and two small tables but only one had a chair so we took our orders to go. There were a lot of people standing around too so I wasn't sure where I was even supposed to order. I was thinking maybe they need more seating. I do appreciate the huge menu that's easy to see right when you walk in. My boyfriend liked his turkey avocado wrap but didn't finish like his coffee (we ended up getting coffees from Dunkin later on). I wanted to like the tofu wrap so bad but it lacked flavor and tasted more bitter than anything. Even with lots of ketchup it wasn't the best. Wasn't too impressed on my first visit but I do want to come back again in the future to try their other vegan-friendly menu items!

Breakfast burrito ($5.75) with bacon (+$1)

I was in the area as I had to bring my brother to the local YMCA for a swim meet. This coffee shop showed up as one of the closer places that had wifi and a place to sit down for work. I settled down in one of the many tables to set up my work area. Aside from the tables, they had several couches as well for those that are looking to relax more. An issue that I would raise is that there aren't really many wall outlets for those that are looking for a place to set up a laptop to work on. I was able to secure the one table next to a standing fridge that had an outlet. As for their food and drinks, I opted for a red eye coffee and a breakfast burrito plus bacon. A large coffee set me back around $3.50 and the burrito at $7.50 after adding the bacon for $1. The coffee was great and kept me energized from waking up early. The burrito was filled with 3 scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, black beans, sour cream, and salsa. It was also griddled which was a nice touch and added some textural element to the burrito which I enjoy. The menu did say scrambled but the eggs looked more like precooked egg patties that most coffee shops tend to use. Overall the flavor was more on the bland side but the addition of some green hot sauce solved that. Overall, its a great place to sit down and hang out for a bit or to get some work done on one of their many seating arrangements.

Goodness gracious, this was delicious - from the first bite until the last- at which point I was fantasizing about going back to try the curry tofu scramble and the chickpea salad sandwich.... see you again soon!

My absolute favorite downtown cafe! Came in with my boyfriend as i'm visiting for the holidays. We both got breakfast burritos with bacon and they're were TO. DIE. FOR... I also tried the Immune Booster juice which had carrots, oranges and ginger and is was delish! Highly recommend!

Decent. Coffee was ok. I tried their BLT. It was more lettuce and spinach than anything else. Worse: the bacon was fraudulent. There is no way I'm believing That was actual bacon I just ate. It looked and tasted like astronaut bacon, if there's even such a thing. Glad it was only $5. The atmosphere is cool. Plenty of seating and variety in terms of the seating options (they've got couches, bar stools, and various tables). They also have smoothies. I might try that next time. Never trying their BLT again.

There are two small reasons that the green bean doesn't get five stars. One of those two reasons they couldn't change if they wanted to. It's a me thing, not a them thing. 1. I was a bit put off by the "hummus" in their hummus wrap. It was eggy tasting, which is whatever, but when you're expecting traditional hummus and get something resembling egg salad, it's off putting. 2. I don't feel cool enough to hang out there. And by cool enough, I mean hipster. Aside from those two reasons, my sandwich was good once I got past the egg thing. They were pleasant behind the counter, and the place itself were clean. I am off to make myself cooler now...where ARE those skinny jeans and my ironic tee shirt?

Disclaimer: I'm a healthy foodie. Good enough food, nothing too creative or mind blowing. But nice to find a healthier option. Counter help wasn't so friendly; didn't crack a smile once. But was nice enough to allow me to swap out the bread on the chicken salad sandwich for greens to make it gluten free. Not a great salad - no chunks of chicken, rather a glob of blended unidentifiable food. The bakery case was only 1/3 full. Dad got the veggie burger and I tasted - pretty bland. He got a strawberry shake and said it was too sweet. They did have almond milk for coffee which always wins me over though. :-P But overall I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

    Delicious and pretty.

Great local sandwich place with very reasonable prices. Their house made hummus is the best in the area!

Ask the Community - The Green Bean

    Is the Green Bean expensive?

The Green Bean is a bit on the expensive side. It's all delicious/organic/environmentally friendly, and the people who own the business are super great and do some really awesome things to help out Downtown, so I feel good about shelling out five…

When I asked a lady if those were for my order (they were done and just sitting there out of reach) the lady responded "I don't know" with a bit of an attitude like why am I asking her??? She then asked what my name is and then said yes. That's the type of customer service response that makes me never want to prepay a tip there ever again. (And make me think if another business simply wants my business more. It was 8:30 Wednesday night. Crappy attitudes kill businesses. Zero points for customer service.

At least in my opinion. Anyways it's always a nice refreshing treat my family and I like to grab in the spring/summer time. I wish the seating was better in there but I guess they get most of there business from to go and pick up orders so makes sense
