This restaurant is beautiful on the outside. When you pull up you just know the food is going to be amazing. I have never been to this place but a friend of mines recommended that we go for lunch. The interior still needs work, the boths are very uncomfortable and outdated. It seems all the money went to the exterior of the building and not the interior, food, chef's and so on. The food was horrible. We literally had to eat with napkins on our food and drinks to keep the flies off. The manager Sinan who was on at the time I feel really did not care or he was just used to these complaints. Food 1.The crabcakes were bland and fishy 2. Their steak quesadilla was very greesy and should be called a philly cheese steak quesadilla because they did not use the proper cut of steak to make a steak quesadilla. 3. Their vanilla bean cheesecake was stiff and not at the proper temperature for a refrigerated item. The flies enjoyes the cheesecake more. 4. Roast beef looked so dry like it was sitting on display for months. 5. Mash potatoes, I do not think the mash potatoes are real. These have to be potatoes out of a box. Please note that all food was returned due to taste and the flies that kept landing on our food. This is my fiste and last time I will ever go here. You have been warned. First time and last time. Food was mediocre at best. I felt the service was decent. The waitress was very sweet and very attentive. The host/manager needs a lesson in how to walk a guest to a table. Terrible service, we were 1 of 4 tables seated in the restaurant at the time and our waitress cared more about hanging out with her friends at another table then servicing our needs. After half an hour of no drinks or greeting we decided to leave, the manager asked why we were leaving. After explaining the issue to him he said "ok have a nice night", didn't attempt to correct it or entice us to stay. We went there today for lunch. Originally Meredith was going to seat us and then we saw a friend, Suzan, we hugged and she sat us. Immediately, Meredith removed us from that seat, we gave our drink orders and were NEVER served our order until Suzan asked us how lunch was, she then brought our lunch which we had to take back to work and eat. I think maybe because of a conflict of an acquaintance that Meredith was familiar with both of us, made it so that we were not served. Shame. The interior and exterior of this place is great. From all appearance it looks like the food is should be good, but looks can be deceiving. I took my wife and three children there for dinner on a Friday night. The hostess was warm and welcoming, and was able to get us a table right away. Our waitress was prompt to take our drink orders, and we ordered our food right after that. I had the chicken parm, my wife had another chicken dish, and my kids had grilled cheese. The food was okay, but not worth the price. My food and one of my daughter's food came out 10 to 15 minutes before everyone else had theirs, so by the time I took the first bite it was cold. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen, so I asked the manager if they could please put it in the microwave. I didn't get it back for another 10 minutes, so I ended up eating about 1/4 of my meal before everyone was ready to go. On top of that my kid's grilled cheese wasn't even cooked long enough to melt the cheese. During this whole experience we never had our water refilled until I asked another server. After all of this the waitress/manager didn't even apologize for anything, and there was no meal comp or discount. Bad experience! read more

Well multiply 40 by 2 and that's how long we had to wait for take out. It really wasn't even busy. Sad to see what this place has become. Today I did lunch at the Green Olive with Kate and I have to say the city of Bridgeton should be proud to have such an establishment. The decor is welcoming and the staff are very attentive. Another thing that I thought was so cool was that the displays of cheesecake in the front are l delivered from The Cheesecake Factory. How cool is that. To start I ordered the bruschetta and a garden salad for my entree I got the Flounder with a Baked potato and a side of veggies. Everything was so good. The flounder wasn't over seasoned and the bruschetta was bruschetta. Really no way to mess up bruschetta. I was not crazy about there garden salad though but it was a great meal nonetheless and I'll def be back for the cheesecake and some cocktails. read more

The Green Olive is located in Hopewell Twp. NJ. This place has grow tremendously since it originally started. The Green Olive is a more upscale place for our area and has very good food. Since the business has grown it has added an upstairs area and a really nice bar. The menu is always getting bigger with a very good selection. The atmosphere is very nice and inviting. One of the good things about the Green Olive is that it serves breakfast all day long. We like this because sometimes we don't want a huge meal, just some breakfast. The menu offers items such as Seafood, Pasta, Breakfast, Chicken, Steak, Salads and much more. They offer a nice wine and mixed drink selection as well. The best part of the menu is their desserts. They offer so many selections of desserts and specialize in cheesecakes. Cheesecakes you wouldn't even imagine them making. The staff is friendly and their service is pretty quick. We really have never waited long. This place is great for large groups and parties as I think their big group room is upstairs. The only thing I would recommend is an outdoors seating area with live music. This place can be romantic as well especially at night. The bar area kind of gives off a nice NYC atmosphere. The dress is casual but we have gone in there in work out clothes. It really doesn't matter since we are locals. If your looking for a good date night restaurant this is the place to go. read more

Tasteless. Over priced diner food. The bad reviews on this place are correct. This place is a dump anymore. They take the meaning of polishing a turd to the fullest. Ordered some shrimp appetizer, it was fired shrimp with mozzarella cheese?? ..wut? Nasty. The wife and I both got the seafood supreme. Tasteless and the shrimp was like mush. Tried to explain this to who ever was in charge and they took off the price of the shrimp in the meal??? Not sure what they expected that would accomplish. After going back and fourth they took off the price of one plate. Keep in mind we both had maybe 3 bites out of it. I told the owner to go look at what is left behind. Of course by that time the waitress was cleaning off the table and put every thing in one bowl. This douche then proceeded to look at the empty bowl and say "well you ate a whole bowl" . I then told him he just watched her put everything in one bowl and proceeded to argue with me about it. His excuse was "there's only 1 plate worth in there" AS THE BOWL WAS POURING OVER THE SIDES with the left overs. Needless to say , besides just walking out, which I should have done . It cost $57 for some disgusting food. This place used to be nice. All this place is, is a dolled up diner focusing on the middle/upper middle class people in a low income area. Stay away. We have been coming here to eat since before they renovated, and the food and service are always great. This review mainly pertains to the new bar...Tonight was the first time we came to visit the new bar addition, and we sat in the downstairs bar. There is also a bar area upstairs with an outdoor patio. It was overall a fun night. They have a vast selection of drinks, and a few additional high-top tables in the downstairs bar area. We came in around 9pm on a Friday night, and met some friends at the bar. The bar itself was full, but there was room to sit at the bar tables. After a couple rounds, we decided to order some food, but we were told the kitchen had just closed (around 10 pm). We could, however, still order a brick oven pizza since the pizza oven was still going. We decided on the four cheese pizza, which we all shared. It was a good pizza, lots of cheese (including blue cheese, FYI) and a flavorful red sauce, and it came out fairly quickly. The atmosphere is casual but with some nice touches, typical of a new place just open. The bar area closes at midnight, so just be advised. However, the service was prompt and friendly, the place is clean, and they also have a few big screen TVs downstairs at the bar for sports. As a local, this is one of the best places around here to eat, and now to drink, so it's safe to say I will be back! read more

This exterior/interior of the Green Olive is really nice. This place had certainly come a long way as far as the interior goes. As far as food as concerned, it is just okay. The food isn't bad, but the food isn't great either-it really depends on what you get. The crab cakes are okay and the Manhattan clam chowder is just okay too (the clam chowder didn't taste homemade at all but I'm not sure-clams have been chewy the 4 times I've had it and only have 1-3 clams in each bowl). However, they had a chicken orzo soup special one time and it was pretty good. This place is the only "fancy" restaurant around the area so if you're looking for a fancier dinner, come here. I personally don't come here a lot unless I'm in the mood for a really nice, sit down dinner with friends. read more

This place is like Olive Garden on steroids. On the outside, it looks like the million dollar mansion of Olive Gardens, hence the rip off name. Inside, you'll find less than adequate food/service with over inflated prices. I guess they need to charge more to pay for the constant upgrades to their facade, cuz they certainly ain't paying for better chefs or quality ingredients. It's the same quality (frozen), blandness and authenticity of food as Olive Garden, but with the trendiest spot in town prices. I've gone 3-4 times, ordered probably a total of 8 different menu items and only 1/8 was good, an appetizer. That was when they first opened. If I went back today and ordered that 1 good thing, I would bet it has also slipped. The parking lot is somehow always packed, even in the afternoon on weekdays. Why is every single person in Hopewell at Green Olive at 2:00pm on a Thursday? I'm not buying it. I'm guessing they ask their employees to leave their cars there overnight to give the appearance of customers, u know, to keep up their facade. To think it stands where Richman's Ice Cream used to be, a place with cheap, good diner food and famous ice cream, that at one point was open 24 hours is unreal in a town like Hopewell. These people didn't know what they had. I would pay to have Richman's back. If you're the kind of person that is impressed with book covers, this place is for you. If you want good Italian or Seafood, go somewhere else. read more

This place is probably the best place to eat in Hopewell. The ambiance is great and they have expanded their restaurant a lot in recent years. That being said, one look at their several page menu should tell you that it's basically diner food. Don't expect any culinary wonders here, stick to the basic favorites. Bread is good, soups are always unremarkable. You get a large portion for your money and will probably have leftovers. They have recently expanded their offerings to include pizzas, they are good. We have enough diners and mediocre Italian food in south jersey. I would love to see this place slash their menu to one page and do everything on it exceptionally well. read more

I've dined here on many occasions... only due to convenience for my senior grandmother...most times were meh/ok but others were horrible... from 67 min waits for drinks...horrible management... under cooked food... doped up servers... etc... today took the cake. I order with my mother and grandmother and I ordered a Perfect Margarita... nothing unusual I always order those. I did notice that the waitress was someone I had previously complained about before. When I received my drink I smelled a strong smell of bleach. I just figured the table was just cleaned or it was on the waitresses hands. When I went to take a sip it was BLEACH... the sugared rim was dripping all down the side of the glass... apparently from where some sort of chemical was poured in after it was made. (My thoughts after all this) I immediately spit it out and the told the waitress to smell and she agreed and said it smelled like chlorine. I ran to the bathroom to wash my mouth out and by the time I came back the drink was gone. I asked for the manager who immediately was defensive and said they don't use bleach because it's illegal. He also said that he physically drank my drink in front of the camera. So I asked to see the footage of the drink being made miraculously that wasn't recorded. Bottom line this isn't the first instance of negligence and unprofessional service but I feel like I was intentionally poisoned since the waitress then lied and said she never said it smelled like chlorine... absolutely lied in my face... my mothers... and my 77 year old grandmother. The question that's bugging me is why would you come off so defensive and hostile? If it was a mistake or something like that why not express that. Why say you drank my entire drink on front of the camera??? Weird that he felt the need to do that... of course the drink was discarded immediately as well... Who would drink after a complete stranger??? It sounds like a bunch of bs. Anyone who knows me knows that I frequent all types of restaurants and eateries... I spend thousands eating out at very upscale establishments... so why in the hell would I make up a claim like this out of the blue. I guarantee this won't be the last you all hear of this. Food was not good, service was mediocre and man at counter made inappropriate comment to young girl seating us and then hung with a table of young females. Table was dirty, water glass had huge cracks in it and shrimp and Seafood fra Diavlo was nasty. On the plus side, drinks were good and turtle cheesecake was good. Our family had a luncheon here just a few days ago, it was after the funeral and burial service of my late father. We had made a reservation for 50 people, not knowing exactly what time we would get there. Well, since it was pouring rain, the service ended about an hour early. We arrived and they really went beyond expectations in preparing a private room for our group (the previous party was just leaving). We only had to wait about 10 minutes. We had a fixed menu lunch with 6 items to choose from (nice mix too) with salad, dinner rolls, and beverages. Perfect for an event like this. The servers and staff could not have been more helpful, friendly, and attentive to our group. Everyone had a really nice time, the food was perfect.
