We had the best time at The Green Turtle during our visit! From enjoying a late night cap during the weekdays to watching this place come alive on the weekends, each time was even better than the last. The service is fast and efficient. They have fantastic live music on their outdoor stage and on their wrap around porch. This joint has so much character and is so much more than just a dive bar. It's clearly a local's and visitor's favorite alike and a staple in Amelia Island's nightlife scene!

This place was super cool! Came here after wandering the streets with friends and checking out different bars. This place offered great vibes and we all loved the mood. The bartenders were chill and the inside and outside was easy to get around. The band playing was great and fit the whole atmosphere. Plus the artwork on the fences outside was pretty dope. Thanks!

Just stopped in for a cool beer. One block off the main strip downtown Fernandina. Sat outside and listened to local Jazz talent in great Florida atmosphere. Waitress was friendly and fast with the draft,

One of the stops while having a few on vacation and this had to have been the most punk dive bar in fernandina. Band space, writing on the walls, no menu to be spoken of. A couple walked in and asked for a drink menu and bartender said one doesn't exist. Was he a little rude, yeah, but you take one look at this place and you know it's a two ingredient drink type of place. Cool outdoor space. Apparently they have burgers at some points and shows. Gin and tonic was fine. Not really a beach type of bar but is a nice break from those. 3/5 would recommend to a friend

Simple great music at night and some beverages. Don't need much more to end your night. FYI...seems like a 10pm cut off for music unfortunately. At least on a Thursday.

Fernandino, Florida --- The "Green Turtle Tavern" has been local hangout since 2004. My 1st visit has made it my "Run-A-Way Bill" Favorite bar of Fernandina The bar flair of stickers, quirky decorations, unique license plates, murals and more make for a great atmosphere. The staff "team" are all "Run-A-Way Bill" Favorites too. Mark, Greg & Esmeralda each gave me "more smiles than I came in with". The customers are also interactive & friendly. "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! ... and will return! 03.11.21

So... this place is called THE GREEN TURTLE TAVERN....NOT to be confused with THE GREEN TURTLE (located in Maryland). I got it confused because that is what came up on my search. This place has it's own personal Southern vibe. It's like visiting the neighborhood's s party house, finding any ol' spot to sit (after you've walked to the grill to see and buy what's cooking' n going inside to buy a beverage of some kind) and just relax alone or with friends listening to great Music and enjoying the evenings cool air. I gave It 4 stars only cuz it's a little confusing when you walk up. No one seems to be there to give you the lowdown. -like showing up at a party where you know no one lol. It was a little bewildering for me who did arrive alone and I had to stumble around trying to find someone who actually worked there to see where I eat, sit etc. The music was great tho. Everyone was super friendly and at the time seating was pretty abundant. I just did not get the hippy memo for this place. -thankfullyDOGS are very welcome so I was happy with that! Go check it out.

    Taco deal.

Found this place on a random road trip and would be here all the time if I lived in the area. Tuesday special was $5 for two tacos and chips and $2 Mexican beers which is a hell of a deal. Bartenders were very nice and it's also dog friendly.

Ask the Community - The Green Turtle

Is this strictly 21+? Or could a 20 y/o go in and not drink?

There are younger people there because it's outside in a courtyard area. But you can't get alcohol w/o ID. It is not for children, the bands are loud, people smoke...it's for adults in evening!

Well behaved dogs allowed outdoor seating area?

I would say yes; but can be lots of people and music is loud so not sure if you'd want to bring dog even on lease. He/she could get stepped on!!?

We asked for red sangria, and the bar tender told us to try the bar upstairs because she would have to make it and "it would be a little bit" before she could make the drinks. We tried upstairs and they didn't have it either. We came back down and told her they didn't have it either, she told us she would make it for us. She made her version of sangria. Which wasn't too bad. But we seemed to be an inconvenience overall. I don't really have a desire to return to this bar.

It's a cute location in a cute area; it had such a fun, authentic vibe outside and in. We came in and wanted to get straight to bowling, and the staff member who set us up was helpful and friendly. The alley area is pretty small, as it's only four lanes. But while I'm sure that could be a disappointment on a crowded night, we found the small size to be conducive to chatting with each other as we played. It's definitely different from standard bowling: you don't wear bowling shoes, the pins are attached to strings that pull them up (as opposed to freestanding pins at a standard alley), and you use smaller, hole-free balls. You also get three throws per frame as opposed to two. I'm not good at bowling, and I'm -- so far -- not good at the duck pin variant. But I didn't find it frustrating, just fun to learn and play! I managed no strikes and a whopping one spare, although I did find the advice posted on the walls helped me get a bit better. I think there is a type of person (someone who takes bowling seriously, or maybe too seriously) who wouldn't enjoy this, but it's really entertaining if you can go in with a good mindset. And not having to find shoes or bowling balls that fit is a huge plus. As far as timing, it took us about an hour and 15 minutes to play two full games; we didn't rush, but we didn't daddle, either. They charge by the hour or half hour, and we paid for our first hour then added a half hour to finish out a second game. A couple who came in about halfway through our visit managed to just squeeze in 10 frames in 30 minutes. We didn't explore the (intriguing) upstairs area, but I did get a fabulous drink -- the Saturn -- at the bar. While I felt like the bowling was a little pricey (not unreasonably priced, to be clear, just something I couldn't afford quite as often), I was surprised at the great value of the drink. Plus, it was delicious -- super well-balanced -- and the bartender was lovely. Even outside of the bowling fun, I could see this being a regular hangout for me if I lived in the area. But even though it's more than an hour from home for me, I'll absolutely take family and friends up to visit when I can. It's an awesome place to have in the region.
