I really liked this place. So much I went back. Paul, the main bartender, is a cocktail phenom. He takes pride in his work and has a talent for making delicious custom drinks. He's also humble enough to ask if any cocktail needs a little bit more sugar or something else. The Lemongrass Moon was refreshing, the Habanero Welcome was perfectly balanced with heat and sweet. Every drink always get a full pour of alcohol -- no skimping here. Everything in the place speaks Mermaid -- statues, mirrors, wall art and that is pretty cool. It is also located inside the Florida Inn, which I think is the oldest hotel in Florida. Also pretty darn cool. But like all bars, the bartender makes the place. After dinner we went back, and unfortunately, Paul had departed. A woman bartender was behind the bar. She made us a perfect Old Fashioned-- except for one thing. She filled the glasses with crushed ice. I asked what about serving the drink with a large slow melting cube. Answer: they are in the freezer out back and it's too hard to go and get them right now. Well its my drink and I want it made correctly. Recommend the owners, redesign the bar so the bartenders have what they need in the right place to make the cocktails as they should. Overall still a really cool place.

Cute air conditioned bar in the heart of downtown Fernadina Beach. Bartenders are attentive and know their drinks. Best French 75 I've ever had!!!

Ready for a eventful day! But cocktails first.

What a cute place. Meet up with my friends for brunch and had the best seats in the full place..at the bar. The bartender was amazing. She was so attentive and made great Bloody Mary's.. she gave us a menu and informed us of some of their best sellers. This place is in side the Florida House inn. Also inside is Leddys Porch which is the restaurant. Yes it's a huge place but so old Florida chic. The Mermaid bar was comfortable with nice stools and fun Vibes. This is on my return list for fall.

My amazing drink, Meringue it on, with it's creator.

Austin is the best ever. He is a true master behind the bar. 3 days in a row different drinks each night, all amazing.

During the winter, there's nothing quite like drinking one of Paul's smoky whiskey drinks and warming up by the fireplace.

The interior is quite spacious and has several different rooms, all very inviting. The place was busy when we arrived, which gave it an inviting and lively, although slightly noisy vibe. The barkeeps were busy and it was kind of fun watching them work together as they mixed poured various drinks. We decided we were in the mood for their Smoked Old Fashioned so that's what we ordered. At $22 each, I was expecting something a bit more than what we got. The barkeep made both of our drinks in a tumbler using only 1 shot of Woodford bourbon. Total. They were tasty enough, but tiny. I felt or the price we paid we would have at least gotten two drinks, not one split between us. We enjoyed our time there, but we decided one and done was good enough. We didn't reorder.

In a moment of clumsiness, I accidentally deleted the email and thought it was gone for good. I reached out in desperation, and to my surprise, manager Colin personally stepped in. He contacted corporate right away and made sure the gift certificate was resent to me promptly. That kind of care and follow-through is rare these days, and it speaks volumes about the family-oriented, customer-first culture at The Boat House. It made me even more excited for our next visit. Thank you, Colin, and the whole team -- you've gained a loyal customer and turned what could have been a frustrating situation into one that highlights why The Boathouse stands out. Highly recommend!

It's a cute location in a cute area; it had such a fun, authentic vibe outside and in. We came in and wanted to get straight to bowling, and the staff member who set us up was helpful and friendly. The alley area is pretty small, as it's only four lanes. But while I'm sure that could be a disappointment on a crowded night, we found the small size to be conducive to chatting with each other as we played. It's definitely different from standard bowling: you don't wear bowling shoes, the pins are attached to strings that pull them up (as opposed to freestanding pins at a standard alley), and you use smaller, hole-free balls. You also get three throws per frame as opposed to two. I'm not good at bowling, and I'm -- so far -- not good at the duck pin variant. But I didn't find it frustrating, just fun to learn and play! I managed no strikes and a whopping one spare, although I did find the advice posted on the walls helped me get a bit better. I think there is a type of person (someone who takes bowling seriously, or maybe too seriously) who wouldn't enjoy this, but it's really entertaining if you can go in with a good mindset. And not having to find shoes or bowling balls that fit is a huge plus. As far as timing, it took us about an hour and 15 minutes to play two full games; we didn't rush, but we didn't daddle, either. They charge by the hour or half hour, and we paid for our first hour then added a half hour to finish out a second game. A couple who came in about halfway through our visit managed to just squeeze in 10 frames in 30 minutes. We didn't explore the (intriguing) upstairs area, but I did get a fabulous drink -- the Saturn -- at the bar. While I felt like the bowling was a little pricey (not unreasonably priced, to be clear, just something I couldn't afford quite as often), I was surprised at the great value of the drink. Plus, it was delicious -- super well-balanced -- and the bartender was lovely. Even outside of the bowling fun, I could see this being a regular hangout for me if I lived in the area. But even though it's more than an hour from home for me, I'll absolutely take family and friends up to visit when I can. It's an awesome place to have in the region.
