Came here for a quick breakfast before getting on the road. It wasn't busy but we waited an hour for our food that never came. Other customers came in, ate, and left while we were still waiting. We asked for the check and the waiter said our food would be out shortly so we waited another 10 minutes. We ended up having to just pay for our coffee and leave without eating. read more

Made the mistake of assuming the quality would be the same as Meridian. Waitress forgot about us for 20 min. 4 meals came and it ranged from mediocre to my son sending his back (he was embarrassed to even ask). He asked for pancakes instead of the goo he was served. After I'd already paid the bill, the pancakes came (we were there almost an hour). No apologies, nothing. Slightly better than IHOP for twice the price and half the service. I've come here off and on since I've moved to Boise in June. It's especially convenient because I live within easy walking distance of this place. The decor is nice and warm, and it's a very comfortable place to have a meal in. The food here is good. It's not mind-blowing like many of the reviews will have you believe, but it tastes fine and the portions are reasonable for the price. This place is also busy, so it you plan on going on a weekend, especially on a Sunday, be ready for a wait. Service can be a little spotty at times. The staff here is generally nice and responsive, but I've sat at the bar numerous times and I've had to request silverware to stir my coffee, and this is after having to put forth a little effort to get someone's attention. They also make you wait for seats that are obviously open and clean, even if you're looking at a open seat at the bar and on your own. Are they worth a shot? Sure, but go in knowing that you'll be waiting, expecting hit or miss service, and understand that this place doesn't serve food you can die for. read more

This is for the Boise-Parkcenter location. I ordered takeout (trying to help my fav restaurants) and was REALLY disappointed with what I got. My sandwich was supposed to have avocado on it and when I got home there was no avocado. I ordered egg salad but when I got there the server told me they "ran out" which is interesting because the menu says its "made to order". They had made a substitution without asking me and when I told them I didn't want a full portion of the substitution I asked for sweet potato fries. After 20 minutes in my car (and an additional phone call) my fries were finally brought out...COLD. The server forgot my oj which I figured out before I left so that was rectified. I'd understand these issues if it was a packed weekend day but because they're not open no one was there, including waiting in the takeout part of the parking lot. With the server not being overly friendly and the experience/food subpar...I'm not sure I'll be returning when they reopen. read more

Just had an amazing bar top breakfast at The Griddle. Jonah, my server was quick, attentive and super friendly. I have seen people talking about sluggish service and did not feel that way at all. That being said, I ate solo at the bar top on a snowy Sunday morning. Having just moved here, I did not know what was good on the menu. I decided on their special titled The Gravy Train Hash Browns. Came with some loaded hash browns, 2 eggs and toast. It was delicious! My mocha was made well, a little extra chocolate, but I don't mind that. This is the best breakfast I have ever eaten! I had the California Egg's Benedict and biscuits with gravy. Both were amazing. I have had biscuits and gravy from many places throughout the United States and this was by for the best. The biscuits are nice and flakey. Everything is made in house including their salsa which is perfect. Jack was our server who was very attentive but not overly annoying. Descent prices with large portions. Our large party of eight was standing outside the restaurant, just trying to figure out where to go next so we can get into our three cars and go. Excellent breakfast! The meat lovers omelet was amazing! One HUGE complaint though. One of the cooks, NBA hat on backwards wearing glasses, even though he was wearing gloves, kept grabbing his cell phone from above and doing things on it. He would then put the cell phone back antouch the food such as toast and bacon with the same gloves on. Health violation in my opinion. Feels like home on a plate! Everything is good here from the service to the variety of breakfast plates. Ashley's take on Joe's and the Biscuit and Gravy are my faves but no matter what you must add a side of the Maple sausage to truly experience one of the things that makes the Griddle a favorite. The Griddle is a good place to get a bite if you're looking for variety in a breakfast joint. Sadly, Boise's breakfast scene is fairly limited, and so finding a place to enjoy the most important meal of the day can be tricky. The Griddle is acceptable, but not overwhelming. I'd recommend going at least once to try it for yourself, but I found the food fairly utility. I got the maple bacon pancakes, which were a little saccharine, and the pancakes were forgettable buried under all the sugary toppings. The waitstaff, however were super helpful and friendly, and very accommodating to my party's special requests. These folks are on the ball, and even with a breakfast rush, you won't be left wanting for service. read more

My wife and I went here on a Sunday. We sat outside so I don't know much about the inside atmosphere but it was nice outside and the chairs were comfortable. Our server was polite, nice etc. Where this place falls short for me is the food/value. It's okay, nothing gross or terrible... but what we paid was not indicative of the quality. It's breakfast food, some of the cheapest food to serve up and the hardest to mess up, and we paid $30.00? I got a glass of OJ and a biscut and gravy which came with 2 eggs and hashbrowns. My wife got an omlette which came with hasbrowns and a glass of OJ. $30.00 later we felt a little ripped off. ($3.19 for an 8oz glass of OJ... come on... Yeah it's 'fresh squeezed' but I can get a whole bag of oranges for that) It's not like we didn't read the prices - we did. We just thought "huh, this is a little pricey, I wonder how they differentiate from other places." They don't. Standard affair and small portions at not so small prices. read more

Meh....My 8 yr old son and I went here for breakfast on Sunday. I had heard great things about it. I am not sure if it was just a bad day for them or not but it kind of sucked. My son ordered the kids french toast. It was 1 piece of french toast. He was still hungry. My son also had hot chocolate which he loved. (of course) I had the red flannel hash, which was actually tasty. This was served with scorched toast and the blandest of scrambled eggs. The biggest problem with my dish, aside from the toast being burnt was the price..almost $12 for not much. I could see $6 or maybe $8 but almost $12 really? (ok, I knew the price when I ordered it but I had high expectations.) We had to ask the wait staff 3 times to bring us silverware. I asked for water for us and we were brought one glass...I had to ask for a second glass for myself. When we were finished I had to ask for an extra napkin so my son could wipe the syrup off his face..the waitress had to walk across the room and then only brought one. The Griddle has the vibe of a place trying so hard to cut costs that they are cutting out the quality. I so wanted this to be great but for the price I will look elsewhere. read more

Racist décor- Unfortunately we did not notice the racist décor until after our meal. When we let the server know that the décor was offensive, she let us know that they all knew it was offensive as they have had complaints before but the owner refuses to take down their 'Mammys' because they are part of her grandfather's "Mammy collection" (as if this explanation makes it ok? If my grandfather was a Nazi, I wouldn't display his regalia)... Server's response was "You can't change everyone". Nope, sure can't but I can decide to not eat breakfast surrounded by willful ignorance. I will not be returning to The Griddle. I will be encouraging others to find other restaurant options. One star for poor service and disgusting food service practices. My family and I went to the Griddle a few weeks ago. I don't eat pork so I ordered the basic two egg breakfast (without meat). My server, Adelle, accidentally brought my food with bacon on top. No big deal. As anyone with dietary restrictions can attest, this happens a lot. Most restaurants will apologize and offer to remake the food. Some places will even let the other members of my party have the bacon for free (that's five star service, FYI). Not Adelle. When I told her my order was wrong she refused to take responsibility (no apology and insisted I did order bacon). My family offered to take the bacon which she did give to them. But the Griddle has signs everywhere about not loitering and how they won't seat you until your whole party has arrived so you know it's a place that cares more about penny pinching than creating good dining experience. Knowing that was their vibe I had a feeling Adelle was going to try to charge us for her mistake. And sure enough, when I asked if she was going to charge for the bacon, she said, "it's only an extra two dollars." She then went on to say that if we didn't eat it they could serve it to another table and that's why they have to charge us. WHAT?!? Re-serving food that had already been served to someone else? Completely disgusting. I asked to speak to a manger. She claimed she is a manager, but her behavior was more of a bratty college student working part time. At this point she left us without taking my food to be remade. My sister had to take my plate to the counter to get new food that, but I was so upset and disgusted that I didn't end up eating anything. But don't worry Griddle. I may have had an awful experience, but we paid for everything (even the bacon we didn't order). When Adelle came back to check on us I told her I thought it was ridiculous she was charging us for her mistake. She should have clarified that she was charging us for the bacon before letting my family have it. And I told her that it was really gross that they served what I consider to be used food. She said they only re-serve it if it hasn't been eaten, but what if it had been touched or sneezed on? Seriously, stop being so cheap and give your customers fresh bacon. read more

Room for improvement. No one to greet people, people cutting in front of each other since you sign yourself in on a tacky clip board on a nail on the wall. Breakfast burrito was nothing special.
