Walking distance from my office, I decided to try it. From the outside, I didn't expect much, seemed like a deli and convenient store but the menu is huge! I even got a real plate for my salad! I was searching on Yelp because I didn't know what to get for lunch and this deli popped up! It was just a short drive from work. This deli is also like a mini mart. They have so much beverages and snacks for sale and also puff bars and a lot of other things you'd find at a liquor store. They have a pretty extensive menu for their deli ranging from sandwiches, burgers, salads, breakfast menu , and some plates! I got the el Diablo sandwich which is a sandwich with chipotle chicken, lettuce and cheese and a side of fries! It was delicious!!! I got the pastrami and I've never had a pastrami with sliced lunch meat. It was almost two thick as I'm used to thin pastrami as well. The fries were ok. Not a lot of seasoning. The workers were real friendly and the deli appeared to be somewhat clean although the soda machine appeared it needed to be cleaned on the outside and I'm assuming if the outside looks like that usually the inside is worse. It's a grill and a market. When you walk in to the left is the front where you order your food. They have several people working the front cashiers....there were 4-5 when I was there. There were about 5 people ahead of me and the lines move fast enough to where I probably placed my order within 45 seconds of standing in line. Stare at menu while you wait or look on the side. Menu is super diverse and includes burgers, sandwiches (hot/cold) , spaghetti , breakfast items, sides , sushi and salads. 2. Get in line. Order. Pay. Get number 3. Find a place to sit or wait if you are taking to-go. Leave your number on the table. There is additional outside seating. 4. Someone brings you your food instantly ( I waited 3 minutes after paying when my sandwich arrived ...hallelujah ) Ordered the San Diegan - their most popular cold sandwich. Choose wheat as my choice of bread. Includes turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes, and avocado and sprouts. About 7 bucks total. Come early, or late, if you can (before or after the 12-1 peak) Also once I had a medium burger here and suffered some... unusual gastrointestinal developments, shall we say. So, definitely don't get medium or rare burgers here. Not worth knocking them down over this because I'm sure not every batch of meat is like that but anyway I think it's worth knowing about. I am very emotionally attached to this deli since I work right across the street and come here to eat atleast once every week. There is a great variety of foods here, from burgers, to sandwiches, to teriyaki, to salad and even sushi! I've tried most of the items on the menu and every single one of them are delicious! The portions are also very generous most of the time. The staff are very friendly and fast in serving. Sandwiches: There are tons of selections of healthy and hot sandwiches. The San Diegan sandwich is a must try; lots of avacado, very refreshing. The hot sandwichs such as pastrami and reuban are also delicious. However their size is relatively small compared to others and might not be as filling. My favourite is the Turkey club and the Chicken club sandwich. It is a gigantic sandwich cut into 4 pieces. It really is like the size of two standard sandwiches. Highly recommend getting it on whole wheat, it tastes absolutely AMAZING! Teriyakis: You can get teriyaki in bowls or plates, it's the same content except portion sizes are different. There are chicken, beef, salmon, spicy chicken and tofu. It is always well cooked, with lots of teriyaki sauce. Sushi: I was pretty surprised to see sushi on the menu of a deli. I ususally opt for sushi when I need a lighter lunch. You get 10 large pieces per roll and some edamames. They are decent, but nothing too special. The dish is actually quite filling. Burgers: Their burgers are huge and quite messy to eat. I always have to use forks and knifes to cut them into pieces to eat. There are pretty greasy so I don't get them often, but they are really tasty. Mushroom burger is my favourite. Daily specials! Look out for them everyday on the sign outside the entrance. It's not so much of a price discount, you basically get a large free drink. But there is always special items that are not on their menu, so it's fun to order them. Me and my friends named the days to help us rememeber what the specials are :) - Yakisoba Fridays!! I love their Yakisobas, it is soo delicious, a must try here! There are tons of noodles and veggies, and 2 fried dumplings. It is only available on Fridays. The portion is definitely enough for two ppl. Whenever I get this I can never stop eating because it is so good, thus I get extermely full and skips dinner. I pointed it out to the cashier who replied that it was pretty much the same menu, with pictures now...Wrong...Very wrong. The place was known for its killer golden bacon burger. Which is what I decided to order. From the moment I saw my food on the counter to be picked up, I knew it wasnt the same as it used to be. The sesame seed buns have been replaced by brioche bread, the 2 meat patties have become one sad and lonely thin patty, the amazing thousand island dressing has been replaced by a tasteless dressing I couldnt even identify. As for the side, the regular fries have been replaced by seasoned fries and the quantity has been divided by 2...did it taste bad? Call me picky because I used to work in a Japanese restaurant that relied heavily on the teriyaki bowl I found their chicken to be dry, vegetables to be boiled and not steamed, minimal sauce (which was tasty by the way), but in no way presented in an appetizing way. Honestly even our Chiken bowl was probably only a 2.5-3 star, but it did everything much betterI give it a 1 star for that. The spicy tuna roll was larger than usual, but mainly because they overloaded it with rice and cucumber. The tuna was seasoned well and came with house packaged soy sauce and a spicy mayo along with cold edamame. All in all it was a tasty roll, but preparation was lacking. I give 3 stars. Now bear in mind I was still taking into account this place is a half mini-mart corporate café spot so despite the lines they make quick work back there. If you work less than a mile away I'd check it out once, but the sushi is ok, the plates suck and the sandwiches are just not made well.
