I came here for Richmond Burger Week, and was not disappointed! The burger week deal consisted of The Grill's California Burger. The California Burger was a big burger (i.e. lots of meat), and it came with avocado as well as a fried egg. It was very messy to eat, but super delicious (I particularly appreciated the toasted bun). Every bite was super juicy and delectable. Since the burger week deal only cost $5, I didn't expect the fries that normally accompanied the burger to still be served, yet I still got fries, and plenty of them! There are two options for fries: regular and fresh cut. The fresh cut are slightly less crispy, but they come with potato skin intact, which gives them a nice color/texture. I also ordered a bowl of seafood chowder, which was great. It looked like there were a bunch of other great menu items, so I wouldn't mind returning to check those out. My waitress was super friendly, and the restaurant was cozy and lively. I sat in a pretty comfortable booth. ;) Probably the only setback to this restaurant is finding street parking. read more

We are locals and we come here all the time. The food is always good, waiters are very friendly -- and there is usually no wait. We went there for brunch yesterday (awesome brunch here - offered til 3pm each day). We ordered special of Oreo pancakes- 2 fluffy large pancakes w Oreo in batter and Oreo butter on top. Delicious! It also came w eggs and home fries or grits for $10.95. Very generous. I got my favorite -waffles and it was good! my husband got turkey melt which was average but the house cut French fries are awesome. Perfectly fried; and we usually get a side of siracha ranch for dipping. Ooooo love it! We had a lot of leftovers. Definitely satisfied. only $42 after tax for three is a good deal for the quality / quantity. We did not order alcohol this time, but their $10 mimosa is a must try as well. This place usually has unique specials, like shrimp boil and oysters. We wouldn't say the Grill is a destination restaurant, but if you are in the neighborhood looking for a low key, consistently good experience, you cannot go wrong here. read more

Drinks were very good. The sailor sandwich was awesome but the zucchini fries are over the top!!! I even took leftover ones home and they were just as tasty reheating in the oven. Dudes! They have 18oz Coors light here! Wth! I have never seen one so I ordered 2, they were freaking ice cold. The mountains were blue! So I was pleasantly surprised to see they sell tangier oysters by the bag or half dozen. I just said F it, "lets do a half dozen" oh and throw in a order of mac and cheese bites. The service was quick and boy were they good! The oysters were super fresh and the mac and cheese bites were crispy on the outside and creamy in the inside. What a great lunch! Great establishment with a laid back vibe. I came on vacation to watch the World Cup game at 9 in the morning, and this was one of the few places open near Glen Allen, VA. Although the access to the game is what drew me in, the food did not disappoint! I got the breakfast special of the day. Breakfast bowl with black beans, cheddar, onions, beepers, bacon, avocado, and home fries paired with a cup of coffee. Need something other than coffee to pick you up, have no fear, they have a full bar, breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. (Also pictured are the churro waffles my husband had). Music selection was on point and the staff was attentive. My cup never emptied and my meal came out quickly. Good luck getting anything before 3pm. Was told that no main item (chicken quesadilla) is available before 3pm but everything else is. After another 5min wait after choosing a burger I'm told it's not available till 3pm even though it's not a main item and burgers are available NO WHERE on the menu does it fn say this. What it does say is lunch and dinner is available until 10pm but nothing about a start time. Horrible business practice!! read more

Such a great and fun bar with awesome bar food! We always get their chicken tenders and fries that are soo good. My mom and her best friends go every Wednesday and have the best time there! They are always playing a sports network on the TV. They modified their restaurant a lot for COVID so there is indoor and outdoor seating and only a certain amount of people at a table at a time. read more

Tried this place after I had my baby and I missed the hospital "dinner" and I didn't want the usual fast food restaurants in the area. This place is about 5 mins from at Mary's. We got our food to go but we got the nachos which were full and had a lot of meat. This was our first time at The Grill. We went in with a party of 6 around 8:15 on a Sunday evening and they had a table large enough to accommodate us. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We love the Grill and eat brunch there every time we visit Richmond. Food is delicious and portion size is very generous. It is impossible to order the chicken tenders and not get a doggy bag. I have been eating at The Grill for at least 5 years. I always love the grilled shrimp. The fried zucchini is excellent. After the pandemic their prices increased and no more special on steamed shrimp. Ok I get that. They stopped using the fries they had, because it took too long they said. I was there for breakfast last week. They now charge 3% extra if you use a credit card. I'm surprised they are doing this. I can certainly get cash before going, but I thought this was going too far. Never heard of this! I Also and check in with the waitress about what goes with the Omelet, she mentioned grits apples and potatoes. Then she also said we have fruit. I took the fruit and was charged $2 extra for the fruit. I got a Western omelet only water I did get the side of fruit and with the tax and the 3% and the tip my breakfast was $25 some odd cents. It's a go to place for night shift RNs who want drinks with breakfast after they get off work, so that's going for them, and the place is sort of run-of-the-mill mediocre diner which is tolerable, but it's not a place I'd go to on my own, honestly. The food is -as so far experienced on multiple trips with coworkers- incredibly generic and unexciting. The one thing I was most impressed with, flavor-wise, were the zucchini fries, but even those were intensely over-salted and difficult to finish. Sides of bacon have been cold and soggy, toast scorched, and everything else is just bland be it gravy or waffles or whatever else. Even my mimosa was watery and that just makes me sad. read more

I was hoping since they were a neighborhood Grill, they would be knocking my socks off with their food. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich which cost over $8. for lunch. When it came out, I wanted to ask if this was a Child's dish or did they over charge me for the lunch menu. I have eaten many Reuben Sandwiches and they usually pile on the corn beef with lots of Sauerkraut. to say the least, it was a slice and part of another in regards to Corn beef with little Sauerkraut. Upon picking the sandwich up, I could tell it was floating in way too much of the Russian Dressing. It was dripping everywhere. I would like to have had more Corn beef and Sauerkraut and less of the dressing. I do not know what happened to my original waitress, but if it was not for another waitress seeing me sitting there, I would have not had any service at all as the first one forgot all about me. However the original waitress showed up to bring the bill, so I hope she shared the tip. I thought the sandwich was WAY overpriced for what little I got. The service was OK at best. I will try this again, in the future however I will have to try something in regards to their breakfast as it looks like they do not mind putting food on the plate. They have a lot of sandwiches on their menu, however at their costs, I can get better value in my money in regards to sandwiches at other restaurants. The Grill is one of those casual, bustling Richmond neighborhood "joints" that serves up moderately priced, delicious casual food. We dropped in for our first visit on a Friday for lunch and have added this restaurant to our list of places that we will return to. I had the best BLT that I have had in ages: plenty of smokey bacon, a thick slice of tomato, crisp lettuce, mayo on thick, toasted sourdough, and at my request, they haded a generous slice of creamy Havarti Cheese. Generous, delicious sandwich that I could barely finish for $6.95. I ordered a side of Zucchini Fries, which were crisp, perfect, served with a spicy chipotle dipping sauce. I will return for more of those! My husband has the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Mushrooms and Provolone, which came with choice of sides. He had their French fries, which appeared fresh cut, were sizzling hot when served and well- seasoned. Wait staff was properly friendly and attentive. This place has a small kitchen and service area, not certain how they pull it off, friendly staff, a nice patio, comfortable casual dining with very good food this first visit. I was scheduled for surgery at St Marys Hospital the next morning, and we were staying at the Rhineheart Guesthouse. We were from out of town, arrived fairly late, and decided to find a place to eat close by.. We chose The Grill, and we had a nice walk, maybe a couple blocks to get there. The Grill was very casual. It was dimly lit, and several sections seemed to be for bar areas (inside and outside on the deck), and there were wooden booths and casual tables. The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We both got the pasta. My friend got chicken, and I got shrimp. We both thought it was utterly delicious. The spices were perfect, and the large serving was enough for 2 good-sized meals. We did take leftovers back to the Guesthouse to put in the refrigerator. So I felt like we got our money's worth. Zucchini fries too greasy, regular fries are just okay, and black bean burger half squished out of my sandwich as it was super soft but it quite tasteful. Also the place was surprisingly busy. The bar b q platter was larger but the brisket and pulled pork was overpowered with sauce . If you have to drown your swine in sauce then it most likely poor tasting and dry . Now I'm no racist but the vibes are weird in this part of western Henrico. I always get that "y'all kno about this place too?!" look whenever I'm here for brunch. Food isn't upper echelon but I rocks with it for the price. Corn beef is foolery tho, green peppers, chives, chestnuts, coriander and other foolery all in it. Great little find! Was off on a Friday and checking out a few consignment/local shopping. The grill had been in my sights for about Year ! Nice little spot with a decent variety of food . We were greeted promptly and could just choose a seat . (They have indoor and outdoor seating of course being spring we choose outside) Waitress came asap gave up menus and was very nice! We got the Turkey Melt (real roasted turkey breast not deli meat with cranberry mayo delicious) and I went with choose your own deli sandwich (corned beef on rye with Swiss added a little spicy mustard) awesome! House made chips or fries we both go chips love the thick cut and hearty crunch! Are they really house made since everyone has them ? Who cares I love them ! Came in for Richmond Burger Week on Saturday. The burger was amazing, possibly the most creative flavor combination I've had. The brisket and pork belly make for a juicy explosive patty flavor. The fresh cut kettle chips were crunchy with a delicious light seasoning. I come in every Saturday morning for breakfast. The waffles here are light and airy. The batter is unlike any I've had in a waffle elsewhere. I highly recommend the breakfast and trying the daily specials.
