Drinks are better than Starbucks, a little cheaper too. The service is hit or miss.... Some of the girls are super friendly and a couple are extremely rude. I have been going to the Grind since it opened and was a franchise. The drinks are so much better now that they are out of the franchise and their own, cute little "Ma and Pa" shop. The service has certainly gone down hill over the years, whereas the quality of the drinks have gone up. (Once you get your drink--it takes a WHILE.) Their standards o their employees has seemed to have declined as well. While there are 1 or 2 friendly females that work there, recently, the girls are UNFRIENDLY and seem bothered. Always come here, at least 3-4 times a week with my mom mostly until today . I have never received horrible customer service until today. Trying to return a drink with my dad that he had got me and was not made right. Unfortunately I wasn't with my dad, he was bringing it to me and went off to run errands. I called him telling him I did not like and he told me not to drink that he would take it back later on when coming from doing errands. When we got their the girl with dirty blonde, curly hair, and glasses was very disrespectful as well as being a smart alek towards him. The Grind is a great place to hang out. It is not as crazy as Starbucks and is a nice place to relax and enjoy a cup of Joe. My only gripe is that the chairs inside of there desperately need to be replaced. The fabric is so worn that it's peeling off the chairs and they are kind of nasty to sit in, which ruins the experience. If they just invested a little to replace these they would get a five star rating. Other than that, as another poster stated, it would be nice if they played some music - especially since that is their theme. Otherwise it's a great place. read more

I feel it gives you more of the coffee taste than just the regular Starbucks. There is no drive thru, so you have to go inside and purchase your drink. However, it is just a great place to sit down and just read a book. It gives you more of a coffee house feel, it's not rushed or loud. Always nice to try a Coffee shop other than the normal Starbucks. It actually is an inviting warm atmosphere until you interact with Staff. I had a bad experience and the girl could have had a bad day..but it was enough for me to not return my business. I ordered a blended beverage and my drink was very watery as if no ice and just all milk. I asked if by chance the Barista can remake the drink and she snapped at me saying the drink was fine and to just drink it the way it is. I didn't understand why she was yelling when I said it as nice as possible but for the price of the drinks I just wanted to enjoy it than drinking a cup of milk. It was a legitimate request. The girl kept making remarks towards me. I regretted asking because now I felt uncomfortable in front of others with her remarks. I ended up just taking the loss and left and realized the atmosphere wasn't as inviting as it looked. I called management the next day to explain my experience and was further insulted when they said," Well before we apologize I will have to review the Cameras." Seriously? I wasn't asking for an apology necessarily nor reimbursement for a drink but simply letting management know my experience so maybe for the next customer it is different. my son Jeru approximately 4 years ago introduced me to the Grind Cafe because of its ambiance and great coffee. because he is so picky I wanted to see was it really up to Snuff and it was! the Seattle freeze were amazing and addicting and the nice jazzy music atmosphere in the background complemented the food and drink. I sometimes would stay on my electronic device in this Café longer than I should because it was so cozy. I also had good conversation with other clientele there who felt the same about the cafe. Not worth it. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting for a very long time so I decided to just get a piece of cheesecake to share with my daughter as a treat. When the cashier brought it out, she stuffed it in a bag, threw it on the table and said, we don't have any boxes. It was frozen SOLID....what kind of business does that? I asked for a refund but the "manager" (as she called herself even though her badge said shift leader) refused to give me back the sales tax I paid. Very Cozy environment, especially in winter with the fireplace going after it rains! They have a patio area where bands setup for music, I like hearing the different kinds of music. most of the employees are very well behaved, inviting and kind. Dislikes: I honestly do not visit the place often anymore, and if I do, I don't stay. I used to go ALL the time even in the days when it was called "it's a grind" I had a lot of friends that would meet me there to have conversations over drinks. lately NONE of them want to go because of one of the workers at "the grind" and some of his friends. I love The Grind! I go there for coffee before work every day. The prices are the same as Starbucks, however their coffee tastes so much better. I get an Iced White Mocha everytime. They know my name and its usually almost done being made as soon as Im done paying. I love the stamp card too. i probably have to get a new one every week with how much I go there! The seating is good, outside gets like a windtunnel, but thats not the grinds fault, thats just mothernature in the high desert. Thank you to the staff, you girls made me switch. =] read more

The only place in the HD that I am aware of where I can get my Seattle Freeze fix! The Grind is a nice spot to hag out and enjoy your favorite caffeinated beverage. I like the environment and the staff is polite. They lost a star because the lounge chairs here are really in need of replacement or re-upholstering! Maybe it means that many have enjoyed a cup in the seats, but come on owners...stay on top of your maintenance before a great place such as your goes downhill. read more
