I visited The Grind Coffee for the first time on Mother's Day weekend, and I was really disappointed with the experience. I ordered two drinks and a breakfast sandwich. I have no complaints about the food or the coffee itself--everything tasted good once I finally received it. The issue was the wait time, which was honestly unacceptable. I waited about 40 minutes for my sandwich and over 50 minutes for my drinks. It wasn't until I went up to ask what was going on that my order was finally given to me. I understand it was a busy holiday weekend, but the wait times and lack of communication were frustrating. It's located in the corner where Subway is, and walking in it definitely gives jazz club vibes -- cozy, a little dark, and chill. There are about 5 two-person tables, one 4-top, and one 6-seater, plus some outdoor seating. One thing though... it was pretty smoky inside from them cooking bacon and stuff. If you're okay with that, it's actually a nice spot to sit and get work done. If not... maybe grab it to-go The only other thing I didn't love was the featured menu being only at the register. You can't really look ahead, so with a line behind you it feels a little rushed trying to decide. BUT the staff was super nice and helped me pick something. I got the raspberry mocha iced, and WOW -- it literally tasted like a chocolate-covered raspberry. Insanely good. When I got there, the dining area was pretty full, and you could tell it's a place where people like to spend time hanging out with friends over coffee. The atmosphere felt lively and welcoming. They had a lot of coffee options, with various syrups and milk choices, plus a small selection of pastries. I went with a snickerdoodle iced latte, while my wife tried an iced peanut butter latte. To be honest, the coffee itself wasn't too impressive for me--it even tasted a bit watered down once the syrup was added. Maybe it was just my drink choice, and I'd be open to trying something different next time. That said, the customer service was great. I was a regular customer, and came here nearly every weekend with my bf. Our order has been the same for years. The staff recognized us and one gal had even memorized our order. The service here is outstanding, and the ambiance is so cozy! When I'm here I almost forget I'm in the HD. However, for the last few months, the breakfast sandwiches we have grown to love, have changed for the worse. The croissants are different each week, and they have been burned on the bottom more than once in those visits. We mentioned the difference in croissants to one of the employees who said it was likely a one time thing. Unfortunately, since then, we have gone four more times, and each time the sandwich was a disappointment. The croissants have been different every time, and the flavor just isn't there anymore. Today. they informed my bf that they were out of sausage after we had ordered and had been waiting for our food for a while (they were very busy). He chose to have turkey as a replacement, which was not good...he took it off and ate the egg and cheese instead. We really used to love this place, but don't think we'll be back. We gave it so many chances in hopes that things would return to normal. That said, their drinks might be great, we are not coffee drinkers. so perhaps if you're there for coffee you'll be happy! This was my second time here. The space is clean, the baristas are friendly and it seems like a great place to study, read or catch up with friends. Their pastries are good, I ordered a chocolate muffin for my son and a banana muffin for myself. I love that they have kids size drinks. My only critic is that their coffees are SO sweet. I kindly asked them if they can remake my coffee as it was way too sweet for me. They were very nice and accommodating and made me a new drink. That drink was just as sweet, it tasted like I was drinking syrup and milk. It just wasn't my preference. If you love sweet coffees then you'll love their lattes. I was in the Apple Valley area getting some check-ins done. The Grind made my day so I decided to offer my support and patronage. At first sight, I saw tons of outside patio seating with music playing through some speakers. I said cool! Upon entry, it felt very warm and welcoming with some nostalgia. Maybe it was the wood decor. Loungers, tables, and chairs were available inside. I loved the country like ambiance! I had lost my voice recently so it was hard for me to speak, but I did my best. This was my first time here so I didn't know what they offered. By the looks of the menu, it's a coffee/tea/sandwich shop with hot/cold drinks, breakfast items, pastries, and snacks. I chose the breakfast sandwich with turkey, egg, and cheese croissant. You have a choice of different meats, cheese, and bread... it's like "build your own" sandwich the way you like it. That's flexibilty! Sweet! The lady behind the register recommended medicine ball (I think it comes with mint, lemon, honey, tea) to help soothe the throat. I gave it a try. It was really warm and soothing. Thank you miss! My croissant was very tasty. Good portions of turkey. Eggs were a little runny just perfectly cooked. Cheese was melty and stringy just the way I like it. However, the presentation of the croissant was not the greatest. It was a little flat. No big deal, but just a little surprised. I'm used to plump croissants not flatten ones... that's all LOL. I ate out in the patio seating area on a clear sunny day. Overall, it was a nice and pleasant visit. I would come back again. Had a bagel with Swiss, turkey, and egg & the strawberry cobbler bar, both were very delicious. The staff is very helpful and helping decide what to order, and they will bring your order to you whether you're standing, sitting or waiting outside. I went at 11 AM and it was pretty busy, lots of people sitting and hanging out, there is also outside seating as well. Lots of homemade knickknacks to purchase. What happened to this place? Used to come here more often. Come Sept 2025, told that management changed in July and my points disappeared. The shift lead, Bri, took the order and said I newly signed up, but the last time I was here whuch was after July, my points were still showing up. I ordered a blended vanilla latte with oreos and which clearly did not have oreos. I ordered another drink with oreos and compared the two. I showed Bri and the guy who made it and they laughed and they were gossiping about the situation before they came to the counter. They remade my drink but it was even worse, it wasn't blended well and they forgot to add the espresso pictured below. What happened to friendly staff? This is a nice local coffee shop in the Apple Valley / Hesperia area that isn't Starbucks, which is great. They have lots of food options, and even more coffee and tea options. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors, and a clean restroom, and lots of parking, so what more could you want from a coffee shop. I got the drip coffee, which is actually an empty cup, and then you can go serve yourself from the carafes. They have flavored coffee, decaf coffee and regular coffee, but I chose some sort of hazelnut caramel something. It was good. I also got a blueberry muffin, which was OK and not unlike a blueberry muffin that you would find at Costco. But they warm it up for you, which is a nice touch. They had some interesting drinks available when I was there, like a turmeric beverage, and a chai latte. You should know, though, that they don't have oat milk here! I truly love the Grind Coffee house in Apple Valley. First off, I love where it is, they have great outdoor seating in front and on the side of the business. The side seating offers a wind screen to shut out those windy days we sometimes have here in the HD. Now I'm not a frap kind of guy, but I do like the Vanilla dark roast they offer. Most of all, I hang out there on the week-end mornings because of the people. The owners and employees are simply the best, always friendly and if you go there often, they remember your name as well as what you order. The parking lot is always side by side pick-up trucks, some new, some old, and some with American Flags on the back. The folks here vary in age as well, some new, some old, and some with American flags on the back. The main thing seems to be the camaraderie between the guests at the Grind. Folks like to talk and meet new folks here. Its welcoming. They about everything. Politics, horses, movies, religion, fashion, food and more. It's a blast to sit there a meet a person that has become a friend or listen to others as you relax. Seems many folks here are from all over our country and most attendees seem to live in Apple Valley or Victorville. Horse Trainers, Veterans, Film industry types, Actors, Musicians, Construction workers, Cowboy types, Bike riders, Dog Lovers, Drivers, Teachers, Workout folks, and families. I dig the Harley's here, as well as the old classic cars on the week-end mornings. The Grind has all kinds of desserts, bagels, cakes, pastry and more. It is the best breakfast sandwich in the HD hands down. You can order an egg, bacon, sausage, ham or turkey breakfast sand, with any kind of cheese you want on any kind of bread you want and have it cooked on the Pani grill so it's all hot, gooey and crispy. My favorite is eggs, American cheese and turkey on the Jalapeno sourdough bread. That with a hot cup of joe and your set until lunch time.
