I rarely ever leave a review but I had to, to warn other customers of my recent experience…read more I have been boarding my dogs for a couple years now at Keshlyn Kennel and they have always been super amazing at taking care of my 2 small dogs until recently. I tried to board my dogs for 5 days in August 2025 and was told that they are no longer boarding dogs 12 years and older. This policy isn't located anywhere on their website. I honestly feel and believe that they are discriminating against myself and my dogs because they recently stayed for 2 weeks in July 2025 with no issues other than having to put padding on the walls due one of my dogs being blind. I have spent literally thousands of dollars here and have been a loyal respectful customer for years. BEWARE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ESTABLISH CARE FOR YOUR DOGS WHILE OUT OF TOWN DO NOT USE THEM. THEY MAKE THEIR OWN RULES AND POLICIES AND THEY ARE DIFFERENT FOR EVERY CUSTOMER/DOG.

There are limited amount of places who will take a non neutered male and I am so glad that this place is one of them. Their boarding process is easy as a new client. Fill out some forms and have your pet's medical records on your phone or documented. CON: THEY DO NOT ALLOW FOR EXTENDED STAYS. I want to leave my pile of fur and claws there for a month, visiting every two weeks and the representative stated that "The best you could do is leave him for two weeks and then take him for two days and then bring him back for another two weeks." Suggestion: I wish they would allow vets to fax over or email over pet medical records. I went to actually check this place out today in person and it seems like there is a lot going on. It definitely feels like it is in a rural part of Lexington, if that makes sense. I do not like the back roads I have to take to get here. Tates Creek also bisects the road to this location, but it is down like two lanes (one coming and one going).

We immediately gave him a bath and applied tick and flea medication we rushed out and bought and let him just rest while my son cried thinking his dog was sick or not going to be okay. He was the opposite of his normal self when we picked him up. Mac is a very happy, healthy, loving, and energetic 1 1/2 year old pup who is full of love and life. This was after we had the worst day traveling back from Florida and were told we had until 8:30 pm to grab him when we got back which we have text messages from her employee stating that and when we arrived to get him no one was onsite and the dogs were just howling and crying. It took numerous texts and calls to finally get some girl and her boyfriend to arrive and give us our Mac. I had done a lot of research and had a 40 min call with Christine months before boarding Mac there and we text daily while gone on our trip. She knew this was our and his first time being away from each other and him being boarded and to get my dog back in this condition and he isn't acting like himself at all is just devastating. I would not recommend ever to anyone at all especially for a tiny pup. 0/10.

I've been taking my pets to Dr. Walls practically since he opened and his clinic was actually on…read morethe by pass. I had moved away so hadn't been there for years, but when I moved back to the Richmond area I only wanted to take my fur babies to Dr. Walls. The vet I got wasn't him. I had a dog who was 16 years old. I asked for medicine to help him get around more comfortably during his last months, the meds I was prescribed cost $60 a week. I asked for something more affordable but wasn't given that option so I had to go to another vet for it. When it came time for us to say goodbye to him I made an appointment with them. They knew the weight of my boy and I had told them I would need help getting him out of the car. He could no longer walk and weighed over 100 lbs. She made the appointment for late in the afternoon at closing time, and there wasn't anyone strong enough there to help get him out of the car. The assistant and I did it together though, but once we had him off the back seat she dropped her side and I heard a good crack as my puppy hit his head on the pavement. Strike one and very traumatic for him. I filled out the paperwork on the package I wanted , paid, then went into the private room to say goodbye. Throughout it all I could hear them outside laughing, talking loudly and basically forgetting that I was there saying goodbye to my fur baby. I realize it was closing time but a little respect would have been nice. The lady vet came in after about 15 minutes and gave him the shot to make him sleep. She walked back out and the noise and laughter kept on. She came back a few minutes later to give him his final shot and was acting rushed about it. It was already a heartbreaking time for me but they made it so much worse. Strike 2. On the way home I got a notice from my bank for $100 over the package I selected. They had charged me for the most expensive one, even though I had told them 3 times and signed a paper stating which one I chose. Thank goodness for instant notification from my bank of I would have been screwed. It took me months before I could go there and request a talk with Dr. Walls to tell him about my experience and how terrible it was. He was sympathetic but told me that he had sold his clinic to that woman and was only there a little bit. I'm crying as I write this because it's still upsetting to me and I am still so angry at the way we were treated that had to write this yelp to warn people away from this clinic. Third strike and I'm out of there. We were nothing but a cash grab . I have since moved my animals to another vet and am very glad I did.

I'm sorry what? That's not my dog. She assumed because I'm AA and the lady was AA that we were together. So after she runs outside to catch the lady and comes back in I ask her "did you assume we were together because we are both AA?" She gets a really guilty look on her face and proceeds to say " Oh I'm not racist, I have COLORED friends." Uhhh WHAT??? For 1 I didn't say you were racist (your conciese must have) and 2 is this the 1960's??? Colored umm that's not an acceptable term ma'am. I proceed to tell her that verbiage is really weird and I would just like my bill. The more I sat there the more upset I got. In what world where I am calling myself AA would you think it's acceptable to call me colored? Also to justify your implied prejudice by reassuring me you CANT be racist because you have colored friends. Tell ya what, call your AA friends colored and see how long you are friends after that. So tired of the "I can't be racist I have black friends" mantra. Long story short AVOID "NOT RACIST" Gwen at all costs if you go here. We probably will not be back and will take our decade of patronage with us.

Could not get Dibby in 2 weeks ago, for eye ulcer, even though eye issues should be taken care of immediately because it CAN become very serious very quickly. I was forced to go to another vet in nearby town. Dibs is not better, so did get in to Dr Long yesterday, (only because there was a cancellation). I told office when I made appt that I also needed Dr to also 1. listen to his heart, as it seems to be beating harder all the time and Dibs has a Murmur and is old. VERY IMPORTANT! and 2. just check a tiny cyst that doc had seen before...He did one eye procedure, and told me Dibs needed another procedure on Tues. Did NOT listen to Dibs's heart, said he would come back into exam room, if I was willing to wait. I said ok. Did not check his tiny cyst. 10 minutes later, staff tells me to leave, that Dr is already behind on appts. I said that's not my problem. They said heart could be listened to on Tuesday (!), and still charged me for full exam even though exam was not completed. Also did not fill his eye pain meds. I came back today to pick up meds, and they would not give to me, because I wanted to put its' fee on the Tuesday charge. I waited over 10 minutes and the office mgr said she "could not let me out the door with meds without Dr's approval", even though they never finished yesterday's exam but were happy to charge me full exam fees. I finally walked out and will find another Vet. Disrespectful and rude. Office needs to stop accepting new clients when they can't or won't take care of their old clients. Dr needs an associate vet, and better organized office. Office Mgr needs to realize she has a job because of the clients.
