Wow wow wow! I am obsessed with the vibes here. Very elegant, chill, and upscale. I love that this is a bookstore, cafe, and a cocktail lounge. So fancy! It is very spacious with plenty of different areas of seating. I love that they also have a children's area with books too. Everything about the guild is stunning and perfect. I stopped in on a weekend morning and ordered an iced chai. It was probably 1 of the best chais I've had. Quality of it was top tier and the same is to be said about the service. Staff was friendly and kept up with the busy weekend crowds. This is a place where I will definitely be frequent at. I'm looking forward to coming back during an evening to try their cocktails and food. read more

This place had been on my list to try for awhile. On this visit, I tried the breakfast sando and an iced coffee. My husband got a mocha and ricotta pancakes. I will say the cost of the items is a little high. For the 4 items it was about $50. The inside was cute and a decent amount of seating. I would like to come back and try one of their cocktails. Shaksuka Chicken and waffle Cold brew coffee This place is incredible inside, it looks classy and classic in a refined way and it's a perfect place for a nice brunch. It gets quite busy during peak times, so, plan ahead. The coffee was fine, but the food was excellent. The chicken and waffle is especially amazing - the chicken is moist, the breading is crispy and incredibly flavorful, the waffle is sweet like a waffle cone and it comes with pickled carrot on top, which is an amazing compliment to the sweetness of the dish. The bookstore here is small but this selection is well curated and there are a lot of amazing books on offer. This is a very comfortable place where you could take a chair, drink your coffee and read comfortably for a long time. This is such a great addition to the neighborhood. I love this place. read more

You don't feel like you're in Wheaton when you visit the Guild, it feels more like a European cafe! The place is warmly decorated with rich blues and browns. The bookstore portion has a lovely collection of diverse authors, classics, and children's books. You place an order at the counter and then find your own table. Our total came out to more than 80 with tips for three entrees and French fries. I felt that was a little pricey for no official table service. However, when the food came out, the portions were hearty. We ordered lemon ricotta pancakes, smoked salmon bagel, avocado toast, and French fries. Other breakfast places would have included sides for the prices. The food was delicious. I would definitely come back here for the ambiance and the flavors, however, have to budget for the prices because it's definitely not cafe priced, but more restaurant prices. read more

Daytime Review! I stopped into The Guild for a morning coffee and this place already had a crowd! They have cozy corners to sit throughout the bookstore and enjoy items but also a front dining room. Whether you'd like to order to-go or dine in, one waits in the same line to be helped. They had a good variety of brunch items on menu but also some baked goods in a case that were easy to grab on the go. I got a Lavender Iced Coffee this visit. Their Vanilla, Mocha, and Lavender syrups are all made in house so I wanted to get one of those. The Lavender was very fresh tasting and paired well with the coffee flavor. It was a bit of a wait to get but staff was nice and thanking guests for being patient. Overall, The Guild is a great spot (day or night) to come and enjoy! read more

This place is such a beautiful gem. You can browse books, grab a quick drink, and enjoy a simple but solid coffee or matcha selection. I ordered a lavender matcha and it was absolutely delicious. The only minor downside was that it was a bit hard to tell who was working unless they were behind the register. Name tags might make things clearer. We were in the area and saw that it was a bookstore and cafe and naturally the book lover in me had to stop by. When we walked in it was like Christmas heaven. We walked up the stairs and grabbed our coffee to the right and explored the book store. Once we were all set we sat at the tables to enjoy some conversation and just take in the atmosphere. I do wish they had a bigger coffee menu. I ended up getting a matcha and it was okay. The lady at the stand did say they close early to reset for dinner. Third time's a charm! I finally ate at the The Guild in Wheaton. The other times I intended to eat there, they hadn't started serving their breakfast and lunch menu even though their website stated an earlier start date. The anticipation paid off! Even though it was lunchtime, my sister and I opted to share two items on the breakfast menu. First was the lemon ricotta pancakes. The flavor was full on lemon and they were very good. However, I was disappointed that they weren't fluffy pancakes. The second thing we shared was the quiche. This was outstanding and the best I've ever had. The caramelized onions really brought it to the next level and I loved the flaky crust. The Guild is so cute - it has a great bookstore with comfy sofas and chairs, a bar area with stools and plenty of seating in a dining section. They also have a small outdoor patio. The Guild has a good selection of items on their breakfast and lunch menu, although not very extensive. I need to go back and introduce my husband to this place. I loved it! read more

Amazing vibes! Perfect for meeting up with a friend or doing some reading. The bookstore is small and curated in a great way. As far as the cafe part, I have a dairy allergy and celiac disease and they were really good with making sure I could get my almond milk steamed safely for my matcha latte. They also have a gluten free fryer so I got the fries. The staff is super nice and helpful. read more

The Guild is such a unique bookstore with a cozy environment to sit and have coffee or wine. The food and desserts are delicious and I would definitely recommend coming here. The aesthetic is definitely here for this place but everything else fell rather flat for me. The mocha latte I ordered was very dull in flavor and was served to me lukewarm, almost like a kids temp drink, & I asked for it to be steamed again so it could be hot & it was just popped in the microwave :/ They also informed me their food menu won't be ready for a while that they only have pastries currently so really only sweet options for food. The volume in here was astronomical as well which I find odd for a coffee shop/bookstore where you're expecting to be able to read & relax but maybe that's a personal preference. There was at least a wide variety of books & I am interested to see how this place changes with time as they get more settled in. read more

Everyone is buzzing with excitement to try the Guild in Wheaton, a space with many different personalities. In the morning, it's a coffee shop and cafe space, plus bookstore area. In the evening, a "lo-fi bar" is planned, and they're working on an attached event space as well. When we stopped by, there was a lovely warm welcome from the hostess up front--though the seating is self-service. Fortunately, my friend nabbed us a table for 4, but there were crowds coming through the small seating area constantly looking for spots. The register line was typically 6-12 people waiting to order, and by the time we got up to order, they had sold out of all their pastries other than a few big gingerbread cookies. (One friend of mine bought one; it was delicious, crispy-soft and suffused with ginger spices.) One friend who had gotten there early enjoyed her hot cocoa with a darling heart design in the foam. As the crowds grew, we noticed none of our coffees got the designer treatment! My oatmilk latte with caramel was delicious, and the atmosphere would likely have been relaxing and pleasant if it hadn't been so crowded. I'm hoping to go back at night sometime to try out their "lo-fi bar" experience. They also have a microphone area set up in the bookstore; I'd imagine they will host authors for readings eventually. read more

The front atrium feels a bit flat, more like a functional dining area than the warm and charming atmosphere the rest of the space has created. Found a unique coffee table book perfect for a birthday gift for one of my best friends. Definitely will be back! Also found out they have a speakeasy at night that I will definitely come back and try. They serve breakfast and lunch. I had the avocado toast which was good. Beautiful venue! We've visited for coffee on two occasions and will come more. However, although the space is huge, it lacks in seating. On our last visit on a Tuesday afternoon the place was fairly empty yet nowhere really to sit. Each seating area was taken up with one person sitting with their laptop spread out. Please add more seating areas with cute tables or bistro tables. Great Americano coffee! But the pastry selection is also lacking. Please add more pastry choices. Maybe something more interesting than a chocolate chip cookie or a brownie or chocolate muffin. Not every customer loves everything chocolate. Good selection for chocolate lovers. Thankfully, they had one apple fitter so I got that and that was good. Lastly, they have gorgeous light fixtures throughout but it's overshadowed with super bright track lighting. If you want to come to work and read, then this is a place for you with lighting galore. I think the place would be far more charming and inviting with warmer light. And perhaps it would limit the customer who use the coffee shop as an office space. The bar is beautiful, the menu is great, and the staff is super nice and we would love to come for drink and food, but wish they would keep the bar area computer free. read more

Best latte in the suburbs. Finally found it. Love when you find an espresso where the subtle notes speak through. I always lean towards berry notes, and the espresso delivered that with a lot of clarity. Quality was better earlier in the day. Very relived to finally have a place like this. Tried out the breakfast menu the other day. This place was supposed to be a grab and go spot - part owned by Blackberry Market - but that is not the concept now. Menu is not similar and food is much more expensive. Had the quiche which was dry and had too much crust. So disappointing given the prices. This is one of my favorite coffee shops. I like the pastries that they have and every coffee that I've ordered has been good too. I think the real quality that makes this place such a gem is the atmosphere. It is always super busy and sometimes a bit hard to get seating but for a place that is so wonderful to read, study, write, or socialize in this is to be expected.
