My friends and I were walking around the Grafton St neighborhood and popped into The Hairy Lemon to get a Guinness around 2pm on a Monday afternoon. It was a pretty cool looking pub, and the dollars all around the main bar must have stories to tell. We grabbed our drinks and looked around to find an empty table for 4. While looking for a spot to anchor, I noticed that the Hairy Lemon was much bigger than I expected. Felt like behind every corner we turned was a new room or cute nook. We made our way upstairs and found even more rooms. I appreciated how much more chill and quiet it was upstairs. There were a couple of people watching football on a couch and another customer was working on his laptop with a beer. We snagged a table by the window to enjoy our pints while watching the world below. read more

We were able to eat here twice. The first was our initial pub upon entering Ireland! What a great first meal. The place feels like am Irish old pub and the pint of Guinness was perfect. There were locals in here and tourists alike, so a great mix. The food was wonderful. The Irish lamb stew was wonderful and the Guinness beef stew was wonderful with the bread served with it. The fish and chips were good, but not the best I had while in Ireland. We returned for a late night drink and the place was overrun with locals. That made our night. Sitting and listening to the wonderful conversations and feeling like we just belonged in Dublin. Super friendly when we entered and offered great seating options. Service is always slow in Europe, expect it and just fit in with it. It is great to sit and eat and listen and enjoy without feeling rushed! Nice little pub in a great area of the city. Service was slow, but all of the staff were kind. The food lacked any kind of seasoning. My husband ordered the traditional Irish lamb stew and I ordered the Guinness beef stew. The Guinness stew had a great flavor, but everything else was super bland- No salt or pepper or spices at all. This Irish pub was literally right next door to our hotel - gee how convenient. It is a rather large establishment and has lots of tables for lunch and dinner service in addition to the bars. Plenty of beer and whiskey offerings and their food is good and I would be remiss if I did not say that it was one the better fish and chips that I had while in Dublin. The staff was friendly and do their best to serve as quickly as possible but they do get quite busy especially on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

This was such a fun traditional "pub" experience while we were staying in City Center. We split an order of beef chili nachos, and they could not be beat! I also ordered a chicken Caesar wrap as a wrap of the day and it was absolutely delightful. My hubby let me sneak a bite of his fish and chips, and it was the largest piece of fish I've ever seen! Our dining experience with hairy is surprisingly pleasant. The food was great, ordered Guinness pies, Irish stew, fish and chips and Cesar salad. We visited twice during our week in Dublin, based on suggestions from friends. The first time it was great - came at night, was seated in a cozy area on the 2nd floor, but right next to the dumb waiter where my husband had to move out of the way every time food came up. Super annoying. Food was very good - typical pub fare: nachos, chicken Caesar salad, bangers & mash, chicken burger, chicken wings, and mushroom sauce pasta. The 2nd time we came, it was different. Came during the day. Had a different vibe (including no live music). Seated next to a big corporate party, staff not as attentive, and food not as good (some of the same entrees ordered). Great ambiance, love all the different rooms and nooks where smaller parties can sit. read more

Hairy Lemon was the first place my boyfriend and I stopped in Dublin after our long flight from the states. My Chicken Vol Au Vent was fantastic and I hope to recreate the creamy mushroom and chicken sauce at home sometime. My boyfriend had the Beef and Guinness which was also great. This was our first taste of soda bread and from there on we were hooked. We picked a table in the corner by a back bar that wasn't open for the night which was nice because it was a bit quieter. We came here at the recommendation of the staff at the hotel we were staying at. I had the Irish stew and my boyfriend had the beef stew. Both came out quickly and were fantastic. I really enjoyed the beef stew and if we returned I would 100% order that again. It comes with mashed potatoes and soda bread which were both great, the bread was nice and warm and just yummy. Great place! We had terrific service and the location was in the middle of a lot of action in the area and was close to our hotel. Guinness stew and curry were great. Good energy and lots of people in the bar area but were able to get seated in the dining area. Fun spot. read more

For our first night we decided to have some drinks and grab dinner and we are very happy we picked Hairy Lemon. We had the Seafood chowder and the coddle. Both were excellent, the chowder was full of seafood and very filling. We also ordered a side of chips with bacon - the garlic aoili dip was wonderful with the chips. The bus staff were great, but the waitress was terrible. Inattentive, unfriendly, never saw her again after she took our order. Wrong drinks received, and no water after specifically asking a couple of times. And it was not busy. Once we got the check we realized why. The gratuity is already included, so the waitress didn't have to care if we were happy or not. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The food was unseasoned and not tasty. This was the only bad restaurant experience we had on our entire trip to Ireland. read more

There was a long queue when we arrive for dinner on a Saturday evening around 8 PM which we expected. Once it was our turn, we showed our vaccination cards from the US and offered our contact information for tracing. Be kind and comply with this request. We were seated inside towards the middle of the restaurant and were greeted promptly by a female server with blond hair. We ordered the fish and chips and the burger. We were a little disappointed because they are on a limited menu and did not have most of the traditional Irish dinners that we were hoping to try during this visit. This man you may have been in the window of the location but online it reflects differently. The burger was ample in portion and tasted pretty good overall. The fish and chips were also good but nothing stood out is extraordinary. Service was a little bit slow and we had to request our check a few times towards the end of our meal. We may return in the future to hopefully try some of their classic dishes. This location came as a recommendation off several travel blog so we were excited to try. read more

After a long flight coming from Los Angeles, upon arriving and getting settled in Dublin...our first stop aside from Temple Bar was the Hairy Lemon. We did our research, Hairy Lemon was one of the MUST eat restaurants in Dublin, so why not? We got there around 9:30 pm and they were able to accommodate us, alleluia! Thank you for nice people. I was eager to try seafood and Irish stew, so obviously based on the menu I wanted to order the seafood chowder (sooooo good for 10 euros) and also ordered the Irish Stew (so good - 17 euros), chunky chips (5 euros) with chili & mayo dip, and yes we asked for extra sauce, no shame. The seating arrangements are very tight, but who cares, the cozier the better, can't complain. Service was GREAT, we were very pleased. Tasty and hearty food, service, drinks, I recommend this place for sure. So glad we came here. read more

Came here because they were rated for the best coddle and Irish stew, but sadly those are not on the reduced menu. I'm guessing it's related to Covid. Looks like a fun place from the street. Usually busy and the food was ok but as an American traveling with several other friends, we were sat in the backroom of the restaurant, which in the beginning we didn't think anything of it, until more American's were sat in the same backroom. I found it odd, so I got up and walked through the restaurant only to find that anyone in the place that was American was in this backroom. It made me feel like we were living in the '60's again. What's crazy is they have an American flag hanging outside along side of the Irish flag so they must like American's, right? I can't mark them as a 5 because of this but I won't mark them as a 1 because the experience wasn't bad it seemed odd that they did that. read more
