Three of us came here because where we wanted to go was too packed. You go to the counter to order and they assemble the platter in front of you. I got a combo chicken and gyro platter/ bowl with rice and salad and a few small pieces of pita. I didn't care for the chicken but the gyro and rice was ok. Another one got a chicken sandwich and said it was fine but didn't finish it. He got fries too and they had a seasoning on them but it didn't have much flavor. The third got a spicy chicken platter and said it had a lot of spice. They have different sauces but I didn't care for the cilantro, white or tahini ones. Drinks are self serve. It's a small place with just a few two seat tables and one table that seats four. The noise level is very loud and it's very difficult to hear a conversation and makes ordering difficult as well. All three of us agreed we will not return. read more

The Halal Guys at 2000 Boulderstone Way in Cary have become my go-to for platters and gyros. All food here feels made with care, not just assembled in a rush. This crew is fast without being impersonal. They greet regulars like old friends and somehow still find time to make sure everything's just right. We love these Halal Guys in particular. The food itself is rich in flavor but never heavy, leaving me happily full instead of regretting it hours later. I've nearly lost interest in places like Jasmine & Olivz and others. Nothing compares to the consistency here. With only two Halal Guys locations in NC, having this one right next to a Kilwin's ice cream shop has allowed us to turn a simple dinner into a relaxed date night without effort. Overall: I've read some of the other reviews and I don't think the 1 or 2 star reviews are really warranted. It isn't exactly the same as the New York food truck, but I would say the food isn't terrible by any means. Lack of indoor seating and a overuse of sauce though does prevent my from rating them any higher. Food: The food here comes out quickly and gives very generous portions. In general the food isn't that bad, not a whole lot of flavor, but that is also masked by the heaping amounts of sauce they put on your sandwich. Make sure to ask them to put a little bit if you don't want your sandwich covered. Service: Standard service, Chipotle style ordering system. Ambiance: Feels the same as a Chipotle, but far less seating. Be prepared to eat outside. read more

Ordered 5 family kits to serve 20 people. Had about enough food for 25 people. So I was happy with that. They prepared the food on time, they got to order right, and everyone was satisfied with how it tasted. They gave us plenty of sauce, which is of course what people like the most. A lot of people were excited for Cary to get the famous halal guys franchise, my family being part of that crowd. If you've been to New York you've definitely heard of this place. They serve gyro wraps, chicken/gyro platters over rice, wings, and falafel. The food is covered in their famous white sauce and in New York, it is well loved and always busy. This location in particular actually does not give you a big portion like other locations do. This sucks- since it makes the combo extremely overpriced. The amount of meat is especially smaller. The wings were pretty good, but the falafel was more on the dry side. I also was shocked at how bland and unseasoned the chicken was- it seemed boiled. The gyro meat is the better option. It's possible as a new restaurant they will get better, because for now they are doing a disservice to the famous truck in the city. read more

Grabbed lunch from here recently and enjoyed it. I will say that I was a little turned off by the price since it was pretty expensive for lunch. I got a regular sized chicken platter with a soda, and it cost around $18. I know prices are generally higher everywhere right now, but it's challenging for me to pay that much for chicken and rice with a few small pita on the side. My chicken also didn't have a ton of flavor, and the worker put a TON of white sauce on my food, which I was initially worried about but I guess it ended up being pretty tasty :) The employees were nice and completed my order quickly, so that's always a plus. Overall, I enjoyed my meal but the prices were a little bit high for me, so I'm not sure when I'll be back. read more

Having known Halal guys from my college days in NJ.. back when they did not expand via franchising, I've got to say that this is one of the worst experiences ever. I've been to several of their franchises throughout US.. from east coast to west coast (Los Angeles, Virginia, New Jersey, Charlotte - NC etc), this one takes the pie of being of the worst. Service was terrible. I placed an order via their app, which was supposed to be picked up in approximately 20 minutes. When I arrived, I went straight to the pickup spot & when asked, gave them my name. They acknowledged, but nothing was done. I patiently waited for 5 more minutes & reminded them again.. same story: they acknowledged as if they're looking for my order. Few minutes passed by & he asks again. I gave him my name & he tells me that it will take 7-8 minutes. That's when I noticed that he was actually starting to work on my order. And by the way, this is already 20-30 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. Finally my order was ready. I asked if he put white sauce or hot sauce, he said he totally forgot. I asked if he can give me some on the side. Then when I went outside to eat, I noticed that there was no cutlery. I had to come back & ask for that as well. Now comes the food part: It was terrible. A little bit burnt, portion size was way too less than what I get at any other Halal Guys franchise. If I would have not ordered online, it would have been way easier & quicker for me to get in line & be done with my food. They really need to improve, specially being organized & show better customer service. I'd continue going to the Tasty Halal place in Morrisville, until these guys show improvement. Have heard so much hype about the Halal Guys food truck in NYC. Saw that they finally opened so was excited to give them a try. Their grand opening isn't until this weekend so obviously they're working through some kinks. The interior space is very awkward with extremely limited seating. There's only 1 larger table (seats 6) with the other 3-4 tables for 2 people only. There is outside seating but not ideal on a cooler evening. People queuing up to order is chaotic since there are 2 entrances & people didn't know where to stand. It's counter service so you place your order then move down the line. Ordering is also not the easiest since it was pretty loud in there & a bit confusing with several people taking over the order. There's not a lot of topping choices & honestly it would've been easier if we could see the topping selections or have a list of them in sight instead of the staff explaining them to each & every customer. Foodwise? It was just ok. The classic platter is the larger sized one but don't get fooled by the container....half of it was iceberg lettuce. Flavorwise, it was just ok. Chicken was very garlicky & not in a good way. Gyro was fine. Appreciated that they do cook it on a rotating spit but it was mass produced frozen gyro. Falafel was ok too. The white sauce which was supposed to be tahini, was not flavorful & tasted like mayo. Overall, the food didn't do it for us & was a disappointment. It was pricey and wasn't worth it imho. The Halal Guys just opened this location which fills a niche of quick serve halal food in the area. Do you want falafel? Got it, gyro meat? yes, chicken? also yes. Service is friendly and fast, interior is new and clean. As you have your food made you'll realize there are limited toppings but there are a few sauces to choose from that help add flavor to the bowls. I recommend getting extra sauce of your choosing! Also the honey falafel although a bit dry was a great vegetarian option. Indoor seating is limited and the food is packaged with plasticware, they encourage you to order on the app (with free bonus rewards) so the way to order here is do it online, then go pick it up to go. I believe the other reviews are a bit harsh in expecting a sit down flavorful experience the not an inclusive less adventurous healthier option that it is. read more

Everyone was nice & helpful. I got a platter which was filled up with 90% rice & lettuce. The other 10% consisted of 2 scoops of chicken, tomatoes, onions, sauce & a small scoop of hummus. For this, it was $17.30. I guess I've been spoiled by the other Mediterranean places in the area because on top of the high prices, this food quality is not really even edible. Amazing food! The two guys welcomed us with warm smiles and were very helpful. They made sure we were satisfied with the results as they were putting together our bowls and wraps. They were phenomenal! We added fries and drinks which made the meal complete in every way. If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. I wish I took photos, we inhaled our food. Disappointing. Got a chicken platter and paid about $18 (including tip). Rice was bland and the chicken was pale, soggy, and also had no flavor. They barely gave any red sauce and most of the flavor came from the white sauce, which was also bland. Ordering was odd - it was a conveyer belt style which made no sense because there's only 3 topping options. This location is more expensive than any other location (Charlotte, New York, etc), which is ridiculous. Totally not worth it. The owner/manager needs to rethink this location because it's not hitting. I may give them another chance if they make appropriate changes, but until then, I'm going to nearby Tasty Halal Food Truck because it's cheaper and actually has flavor. read more

I am super disappointed. I have been waiting in anticipation for halal guys to open as I am a huge fan of other locations. This location is just sad. They are super stingy on their portion sizes. I ordered a beef and falafel combo. The beef I was given was literal scraps. They didn't even have the pit roasting, it was just in a container. So who knows how long the meat was sitting in their for. And I think the manager or owner of the restaurant just kept coming in and out of the back with a scowl on his face. I didn't really listen to what he was telling his employees but they didn't look happy. Unless this place drastically improves, I won't be coming back. It's nice to have more halal food options in the area. I went on a weekday during lunchtime and they seemed pretty busy. The interior was clean and nice. I got a combo chicken and gyro over rice. They fill it up with salad. For the price, the food wasn't that great. I found the meat to be lacking in flavor and wish the white sauce was more garlicky. I was so excited knowing this was coming to N.C. but the food is terrible,no flavor. Chicken was white no seasoning no browning sitting in a steaming stable. The gyro beef basic. They white sauce I made better at home,watered down sour cream/ mayo. The rice bland no seasoning Wings horrible all fat and did not cook all the way. I was really excited to see this restaurant opening. I survived on food cart halal chicken while living in nyc. That chicken was heavily spiced, cooked on a blacktop until a bit crispy but still juicy. It was paired with rice, lettuce and tomatoes all topped with white sauce that was tangy and hot sauce that was flavorful but not scorching. All for a very reasonable price. The dish could keep me full all day. This restaurant has tried to take that concept and turn it into a Chipotle-like conveyor belt. The chicken is WAY too salty and has no other flavor of spices. It is pale and wet, no crisp. The white sauce is meh. The hot sauce is thermonuclear. The price is higher than a bowl at chipotle. Would not recommend, they charged me 25 dollars for a 10.99 dollar sandwich, didn't add the sauce and then tried to up charge me 8.99 for a pack of sauce. Also added Olive which I don't eat. After having Halal years ago from a street cart in NYC, I was excited for this place to open. I tried it a couple of times before leaving a review just to give them a chance. Let me tell you, this is the worst halal food I've ever had, they should be embarrassed. It's evident that they've been over commercialized and have sold out from any authenticity that once existed. The meat is tiny and tastes and looks like the scraps that were scraped off of a grill, the rice is terrible and unseasoned, and the sauces are completely flavorless garbage. They are not friendly at all either, especially for a new location I was surprised. Not to forget, the hummus is too tangy and the pita was hard and tasted old.
