I LOVE kabobs, rice and hummus. Probably my favorite thing to eat regularly. I was excited to try Halal because I had heard of it being very popular in NY. I'm not so sure what all the hubbub is about. After much hype I came here for lunch and ordered a chicken gyro sandwich. It tasted ok, not great but not bad either. I was full afterward so the food did its job. I returned about a week later, still in search of the reason for all that hype, and tried a beef gyro sandwich this time. I was still pretty underwhelmed. One thing I really didn't like was when I asked for extra tomatoes on my sandwich they wanted to charge me, even though what they first put on there was a paltry little sprinkling of them. I have been wanting to try halal guys since I have heard about the original stand in NY! I was really excited to try it so maybe that's why it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be.. too much to live up too! I do love their falafel ( one of the best I've ever had) and hummus and of course the spicy hot sauce does not disappoint! However the quality of the meat wasn't great it wasn't so good and it was really greasy so maybe they can work on the quality and preparation so it's not seating on the grill and getting supper oily! I tried the Halal Guys in NYC for the first time and LOVED it there, but was excited to see they had a store in Glendale so I went to try it. I gotta say, for some reason the little stands in NY are much better than this store. To be specific they give you way more food and the food is much more freshly cooked. I was referred to come and check this place out. It was absolute crap. The food was OK. I didn't really like it much and I probably wont come back. This place is like the chipotle of the halal guys. They charge extra for adding tomatoes... wtf are you serious? Tomatoes.... I got a gyros sandwhich and the thing that made me full the most was the bread, the amount of meat they put in your sandwhich is soo little! It's ridiculous. Having lived in New York for many years I was excited to see Halal Guys here in Glendale. When I went in here the place hadn't had its official opening yet so it's wasn't very busy. The menu is simple gyros or platter plates just like the New York cart what is crazy is how expensive it is, I know they have rent to pay instead of a cart. A small was still $3 more than a large back east. Taste wise very similar maybe a little bit less greasy since the business isn't non stop (at least not yet). Service was friendly and definitely didn't feel hustled to order quickly. Overall it'll get you your halal guys fix from back east but I can't explain it, it's not exactly the same. read more

Perhaps, people compare this establishment to The Halal Guys in NYC, but I think The Halal Guys in Glendale deserves much better rating. Most of all, I want to compliment the attitude and the service of the staff. They take time to explain the food and ingredients to the customers. And they tell you that red sauce is extremely spicy before they put in. Platter is so delicious. I love all the flavors and spices in the platter. I thought all the bad reviews where due to bad service not the food itself, so I ordered a meal to go. When I tried the food I have to say that this is THE MOST DISGUSTING MEAL I had in my life. I ordered the mix chicken and Gyro plate and I found the chicken to be just boiled and UNMARINATED, and the gyro to be VISIBLY & TASTING OILY! I have a bad nausea right now. The salad is not actually a salad side, but a cheap prepackaged lettuce that looks and tastes like almost expired! This place is ridiculous and goes beyond the service that is presented at the Wilshire location. I tried ordering the combo and the portion sizes if the protein was beyond embarrassing. Bro if y'all gonna charged $12 for a fucken plate have the heart to tell your staff to give a little bit more meat than a few pieces. Y'all act like we ain't already paying y'all $12 for a meal that Cost u less than $4 to create. $4 for extra protein and once again they skimp me out on the meat. I was excited to try this place due to hype from a lot of people but was slightly disappointed. I ordered their beef shawarma wrap which was mediocre. The meat is low quality compared to many other shawarma places. For a place that is known for their shawarma, the quality and flavor needs to be much better. Great service and delicious food! I honestly love it every time I come. This location is busy during lunch time but never a crazy line. The hot sauce really is a 10/10 for me. I personally can handle 2-3 lines of hot sauce but that's already spicy. I recommend if you can't handle spice, just ask for a packet of hot sauce and do like a DOT literally. Once you add the spicy, there's no going back. I love the platters. They are a great deal. A regular sized platter can feed around 2 people. That's 10 bucks for 2 people! I decided to try this place due to all the hype but I ended up being a little disappointed. The staff was super friendly but the food is not so great. I tried their falafel platter. I asked the woman who was helping me if the falafels are dry and if they were to add more sauce. She ended up mixing both the sauces they had but the falafel, rice and the salad were very tasteless and dry. Only thing that was making me eat the food was the sauce that was mixed in there. 3.5 stars. It's good but I don't get all the hype. I think there is an opportunity for this to be outstanding, but the execution isn't there right now. Both the plate and the sandwich are good. It's the same thing but the plate has more rice and has the pita on top. Both meats are decent but I find the beef to be tastier while the chicken tends to be dried out. The highlight is definitely the pita - it's so soft and fluffy! I tend to get the BBQ sauce only and mix it in. The white sauce is not bad, but check out the calorie count on the package and you'll never get it again. I really dislike the hot sauce; it tastes funky and will burn your tastebuds off. Here's where it's not great (but could be): 1. Food The meat can get very dry, especially when it's not peak meal hours. There are some ingredients that I don't want, but instead I ask for more lettuce and tomato. For some reason, they will give another tablespoon or two, but not more than that. If you could just honor the request reasonably, I would be happier. If you want to charge extra for a lot more tomato, that's fine too. Again, it's not bad, but I think with a few small adjustments, it could be a much more satisfying dining experience. 2. Service Related to the above, don't make a face at me when I ask for a bit more lettuce and tomato. If you don't want to customize the order (ever), then make it in the back and don't let anyone change anything. If you are going to make an assembly line like Chipotle, expect that everyone will want some ingredients and not others and you will have to talk to those annoying customers bringing you money. Same for the sauce: by default they want to give you one of all three sauces, but if you ask for only BBQ (to cut down on food waste), they give one tiny container (which is about 1/5 the size of the white sauce package). Whenever we dare ask for a 2nd tiny container of BBQ sauce, we get a dirty look. This is what makes me not want to come back more often. read more

I was excited when I heard that The Halal Guys were opening in Glendale. I had heard great things about the restaurant. In reading the reviews prior to going it sounded like they got off to a rough start but I wanted to give them a try anyways. The staff was very friendly. They greeted us when we came in and was very nice through out the food ordering process. The restaurant was clean. The food was not very good. It was bland. I recommend getting the hot sauce but that can only add so much flavor. I'm hoping that since they are relatively new that things will improve over time. read more

Not a fan of their food. Customer service made it worse. We came in at around 10 or 11 and the guy said they're out of beef coz idk what's broken. At first he said it'll be available maybe after 20mins and then later on he said he can't give an estimate since they have a lot of online orders too. We didn't wanna have just chicken so we killed time and waited but came back after less than 5mins coz we thought we could order in advance so we would be in line already. We came back in from 85 degrees which was right next to Halal and guess what! There's beef available already. We were like WHAAAT. 20mins? No estimate? Changed my review because of the rude employee named Willy. I got there and I was asked for what I wanted so I told Willie I wanted a combo and he answers back to me saying, "That's not what I asked. Do you want a plate or a combo?!" He didn't understand how it's difficult to hear/understand with masks, on top of that him being over the sneeze guard. Next he would always rudely say, this is extra oh that is extra. As a regular customer I GET IT, he didn't have to say it so rude. Then the cashier Aj was very nice and polite and I saw Willy correct Aj like as if he owns the business and was not even nice about it. I tried explaining to him but IGNORED me, it's a good thing Aj was there. Willie ruined our experience at this location and it used to be our favorite because of the other employees customer service. Now because of Willy we will never come back/visit while he is on duty. What Willie has shown is bad for the other employees, the customers, and the business itself. Poor customer service! read more
