I've been ambivalent about writing this review for several reasons, the main one being the fact that I come here regularly. Before writing this review, I gave them so many chances & came back hoping they would live up to the standards at other Halal locations. The biggest drawback to this location is the food quality and service. I'll start with the food, meat is regularly burnt and some pieces are so hard you cannot even chew it. Seriously it's like a rock. Also, they are incredibly stingy with their portions. They shake off rice, meat, lettuce, etc. so it doesn't even fill up the spoon used to scoop these items. Then when you ask for a bit more they get annoyed. They don't do this at the two other locations I've eaten at. We don't pay $10+ for food for such small portions and frankly bad food quality. The service here is really hit or miss. There are about two regular workers who are very pleasant and nice but the others, whether they are old or new staff, are hella rude. Yes, hella rude. Their attitude and rudeness today is what finally prompted me to write this review. As regular customers, my friends and I feel we deserve better service and treatment. I'm not going to say I'm never coming back because to be honest aside from the burnt meat - the food is really tasty. But still, crappy service is crappy service. A friendly hello or smile is enough. We aren't asking for extra treatment but just some pleasant interaction. read more

Had the original in NYC which was really good in a savory, know you're getting fat as you eat it, kinda way and got excited when I saw they opened one up in Glendale but it definitely didn't compare. Customer service here isn't very nice I don't know if they're just in a rush or what. They seem to be super short when you ask them a question. The quality of food is lacking too the meat isn't that moist and flavorful as you expect it to be and the sides aren't really warm either like the rice and bread as expected. read more

First tried it in New York and loved it. Was so happy to see them open here and in Glendale! The food is always fresh, flavorful, big portions and served hot. I love the chicken platter with the yellow rice, side salad and pita bread - small is only 9.49, large is 10.49. You can add extra protein for only $3.45 but I found that they provide very generous portions so there is no need unless you are a big, big, big eater. You can also order it with extra onions, chopped green peppers and jalapeños at no extra charge. Warning: their HOT sauce is extremely HOT! Love the place. read more

The worst customer service in this location. Messed up my order completely. I kindly asked to write down which wrap is chicken and which one is combo beef/chicken. He said the one with green sticker gonna be chicken only wrap. And when we start eating with my daughter i took one with green sticker and it turned out to be a COMBO WRAP!! My daughter started eating mine already with only chicken the gyro without the sticker which was supposed to be a combo gyro!! She started crying and whole day mood is ruined, because there was no beef in her gyro and she wanted a combo gyro wrap. Terrible. The worst. This place is a complete joke. Bland food, bad quality, absolute no flavor. I don't care if you're from New York , when you come to Glendale and open up a Mediterranean restaurant you're competing against Raffi's Kabob, Mini Kabob , Skaf's, Zankou Chicken and so many other places you better be on your game. As a frequent visitor of the OG New York location, I can tell you that this location comes VERY close to the original. If you have tried it before, you'll know this to be the truth. The service could've been better but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt considering they only opened 2 days ago - I mean cmon people we're human and I don't understand how the people who wrote here can't comprehend the vast pressure of opening day for such staple. Let the hype die down and then give you're review. Opening day is always hectic - for customers and people working, common sense. Super stoked that Halal guys opened up in Glendale. This concept comes from a popular food cart from NYC and now it's become an international sensation. The food here speaks for itself. I ordered the combo plate which comes with beef and chicken along with their rice and veggies. Smothering it with the white sauce is an absolute necessity as it takes the bowl to the next level. I ordered the Regular Chicken and Beef Gyro Combo Platter via Postmates and its Uh-mazing! Then I also ordered their Falafel on the side which I'm not a fan of. But overall the chicken, the beef is great, they're very flavorful and not dry at all! For a first timer, I do recommend ordering the combo plate just so you get to try the two meats. However, I do prefer the Gyro just because I think it's a little more juicy and tender. Before I get into the good stuff, I have to address why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. I went to the restaurant around 9:30pm yesterday to order takeout. One of the employees who was working the meat behind the counter (not interacting with customers), wasn't wearing his mask properly. It was hanging right below his nose. It was so irritating to watch. If your mask is loose, get a new one or tie it to make it fit you. The other two staff members who were assisting customers had well fitted masks on. Now to the good stuff, they have signs posted everywhere to wear a mask, and even showing you how to properly fit a mask on your face (which was the irony with this employee). They have distance stickers on the floor, glass between you and the cashier, even a rope so you won't touch the glass. They did a good job with making it safe as possible. I didn't get his name but the tall guy who was serving me was REALLY REALLY nice! Great customer service!! He asked me questions to make sure I'm getting the order I want. Even asked me if I want extra white sauce and ketchup- making sure I don't forget anything. Amazing, keep it up!! Their food is 4 stars. I've been going to the original cart in NYC since the 90s. When they first opened this restaurant location, the meat was awful. I tried it a few times and just wasn't to the standards. I finally tired again after a year, it's such a big difference!!! Still not the same as the original in Manhattan, but still good!! I'll definitely be coming back again, and hopefully next time all the employees are also wearing masks that properly cover the nose and mouth, just as I do! read more

This is an old review that I forgot to post from back when Halal Guys first opened in Glendale, so sorry if it's slightly outdated... I came here with a coworker for dinner - we didn't realize that this location hadn't had their grand opening yet! Overall, I was unimpressed by Halal Guys. The food was mediocre - I felt like it was missing some depth in the flavor compared to other Mediterranean dishes I've had in Glendale before. I had the gyros sandwich; it was packed full of meat, but I wasn't asked whether I wanted any sides/toppings (you can't see the sides from where you order), so I didn't even realize there were options. The service was fairly bad; however, since it was pre-grand opening, I'm sure it was just all the trainees learning the ropes. They assemble your meal in an assembly line, but if you order more than one thing, they got terribly confused. I had ordered a plate to go for my bf and a sandwich for myself to eat there with my friend. They kept on putting my plate with my friend's order in front of me, and they kept on "losing" my sandwich. There was one point when I said I had ordered a sandwich, when, all of a sudden, the person behind the counter yelled "gyros sandwich ON THE FLY!!!!" I had to calm him down and point out that my sandwich was just sitting on the side at which point he yelled "CANCEL THE ON THE FLY SANDWICH". It was all pretty crazy and chaotic. I'm not in a rush to give Halal guys a second chance anytime soon. I'd rather go to Kabob Way or Cafe Bravo (ten minute drive away) than have to wait in a ten minute line for this place. read more

I have been to several Halal guys around the country and in South Korea. This store was by far the best! They had more variety than any other store and the workers were extremely nice! I made a mistake ordering my chicken plate and added onions, but the moment they saw the look on my face they asked if I meant to add onions. I said no, and they said no worries and immediately remade my plate without even having to ask! They were so perceptive to me and I am so appreciative for it. I totally recommend this store. Ate here almost every day I went to school. I appreciate the portion size and price for every meal. It's worth eating if you need something fast and filling. My favorite thing to get here is the beef plate. Comes with salad, rice, a portion of meat, and a few slices of pita bread.
