Regular Combo Platter (Gyro Meat & Chicken), Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Bell Peppers over Rice with Diet Coke
    Jon T.

When it comes to Halal Guys, you really can't go wrong with the amount of food they give you. Honestly every time I come here I'm always full. The regular combo platter is my go to meal and it's hefty. Chunks of Gyro Meat and Chicken are generous, Scoops of rice along with vegetables to compliment your food. The amount of white sauce may be a bit too much but that's more of a personal preference. Overall, it was very quick to get food as the person making the bowl was following a rhythm to it. Fries took a few minutes to cook but they are made fresh on the spot. There's a few tables where you can sit down, but the counter space is positioned a bit awkwardly to sit down at.. the space is small but you gotta do what you have I suppose.

The amazing smell!! The quick service and great food. It does have a few tables to eat in at. I wish they had someone cleaning the tables in between customers. I ate at the counter and did not see some one cleanup the counter from a prior customer so I sat on the other side of the counter. It has a bigger take out service as I kept seeing people come and leave with their food.

The restaurant is very small and I disliked how the area to the bathrooms were almost pitch black. It was so difficult to see and easy to bump into others trying to use them. Regardless, the food was great and had LARGE portions! It was very speedy, fresh, and tasty! They didn't disappoint. I had a sandwich with beef gyro meat, fries, and mango lemonade. I'll definitely come back JUST for the sandwich alone or maybe try a bowl. The pita bread was so hot and fresh too. The workers were accommodating in making sure everyone was served fast and fresh food.

    Rice

The worst quantity ever. The platter was almost half emtpy. Compared to the price of the platter.

I was very hesitant to do a review of this business, because of its fast growth and the fact that there is already talks of more locations opening up. But then I thought, you know what? Virginia only has three locations, and before it gets to be really big, I better get this review out of the way before it becomes something unreviewable. The food is bland. Yep, I started out that way. Because it is. I got myself the gyro chicken, falafel balls, and rice, with their "signature" yogurt sauce, basically a blander Tzatziki sauce. It is a filling meal, but everything really had no taste. The falafel was completely dry and lacked any kind of really good flavor, and I really had high hopes for this. The gyro meat is highly inconsistent, pieces either are really good or dried out where the taste was taken out of it. The rice barely tasted anything of that of a taste, and the pita pieces that came on it were wet and tasteless too. There are only two reasons I am being generous with my review. 1.) The prices are fair for what you're getting, and 2.) I also got a baklava for dessert, and that was really, really good. Sweet and full of flavor. If my lunch was just as flavorful as the dessert, this review would get twice the star rating, but unfortunately it falls woefully short. Fortunately for you there are multiple Middle Eastern joints in the area to pick from, so this isn't an end-all-be-all if you're looking for your fix.

    Chicken Gyro with white sauce.

I was headed to PotBellys but decided to go to Halal Guys which is right next door. I heard about this place a while back and wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. Initially, I couldn't decide between the platter and the gyro. The platter is a LOT OF FOOD, so I decided to go with the gyro which is pretty large as well, but a few bucks cheaper. I ordered the chicken gyro, lettuce, rice, tomatoes, onions and green peppers. I topped it off with the white sauce which is a mayo based sauce with lemon, egg yolk and a few other ingredients. The place isn't that big. I found a nice spot at the counter that looked out onto the parking lot. As soon as I put that gyro up to my mouth, I got a whiff of an unpleasant smell. I'm thinking maybe it's the combination of the items. I'm known to have a stomach of steel so I didn't think twice about it. The more bites I took, my stomach was like, "Steel where...not today!?!" I don't like to throw food away, so I continued to force feed myself this gyro. There was so much left, I couldn't take it. I got up and threw it away. There was a steady stream of customers and many people were ordering the platters (not sure of the meat option). I overheard this guy who walked in raving about how delicious the spicy lamb was. He wanted to order it again, but they didn't have any (this was before 12pm on a Friday). He still ordered another item and said he would be back next week. They had non spicy lamb and beef. I really need to start listening to my gut. I should've gone with my first instinct and gone to Potbelly's. I did treat myself to a chocolate brownie cookie from Potbelly's. My stomach no longer hurts.

I finally made my way into the much-hyped Halal Guys! Didn't have the guts/patience to brave long lines for their grand openings around the area but better late than never, eh? My friend ordered the combo platter (chicken and gyro) and I got the chicken one, and both were delish, especially once their special white sauce (I can now see why it's so ridiculously popular - stuff is goooood) was all mixed in. The platters each came with meat, rice, pita bread, their signature white and hot sauces, and some salad, and there's the option to add chopped onions and green peppers and tomatoes on top as well if you'd like (I loved the crunch factor that the onions and green peppers provided so would recommend doing that). The meat was flavorful - again, even more so with the white sauce on top - and the pita bread was so ridiculously soft that I actually ate the whole thing and kind of wanted another (usually it's the one part of such platters I'm the most meh about)! The food was definitely good enough to come back for, but one of the most noteworthy pieces of my visit was the service. There was a small mix-up with my order which initially bothered me, but when I brought it to the manager's attention he quickly apologized and made it right. The other employee assembling the orders was very sweet as well, and their demeanor made dining in a pleasant experience overall. I wasn't overly fond of the seating inside (very few tables and they're all wrapped around the service area practically) but I understand that they're fast-casual so ambiance-setting is not really a part of their appeal. Looking forward to going back for some more of that chicken with white sauce and some super soft pita bread! This time I'll be sure to get a small platter instead of the large, as that was so filling that I had basically ruined my ability to eat for the rest of the day...

Combo price is $11.99 I was charged $14.24 + tax. Walking out I get the notification on my phone with the total. I ask the guy why is it 14.24 not 11.99 says this is new. It's old & crusty I get it's 9:44 pm it's not new & where does it say in anywhere in the store that it's gonna be anything more than 11.99+ tax. Guy shakes his head & says yes this is new . Second guy in store would not understand it ether. Highway robbery !? That is new

Marib is a Yemeni restaurant located in a strip of restaurants and grocery stores originating from different parts of the world. Marib knows how to do their lambs. This was my first experience at a Yemeni restaurant, and it turned out to be an incredibly pleasant and flavorful introduction. We were served half a lamb, head included, laid beautifully on a large platter of rice. But first, the restaurant itself. It was refreshing to see a place that uses real cutlery, proper plates, and actual tablecloths. I much prefer tables and chairs over booths, which often give off a fast-food chain vibe. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though there was some drilling and repair work going on--likely related to safety or exit signage--so that's understandable. Now to the food. The rice was fluffy and deeply infused with flavor from the lamb, clearly absorbing the richness of the long, slow cooking process. The broth had rippled into the rice, creating an incredible depth of taste. If you've had biryani, this was somewhat similar, but with its own distinct character. The lamb itself was exceptionally tender--falling off the bone and melting in the mouth. For anyone who usually avoids lamb due to its strong aroma, this dish is a must-try; there was no overpowering "lamb smell" at all. The meal was accompanied by a fresh salad and two side sauces--one tomato-based and another green sauce that was extremely spicy, so proceed with caution. The mint lemonade deserves a special mention: easily the best I've had. Not overly sweet, clearly made from fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced. We ended the meal with tea and a warm dessert that was buttery, comforting, and topped with cream--an excellent finale. This was a completely new culinary experience for me, and I left the restaurant feeling like my palate had leveled up. Highly recommended--definitely a place worth checking out

I got there after 6pm. It was packed. It was my first there and had no idea what I was getting into. The menus doesnt explain much nor were prices mentioned. The young man very attentive and friendly. Ushered our dirty tables and brought us our drinks. I had minty lemonade which I recommend if your gonna eat a lot. Here's my gripe. Its very important to label food. None of the food trays or stations were labeled. I have several food allergies and I had no idea what was what. I had to ask what was this or that. One tray had rice and I saw something that had deep fried crispy something. I thought it was chicken... it was fish :( The hummus was good though. The baklava meh. The pita bread was good. Some rice tray had kabob type of meat but it was lukewarm. For the price I paid, its not worth it. Please label your trays. Im give this place another try with my husband after Ramadan. , I saw on the dessert menu they have Knafeh.. a delicious middle eastern dessert that I love. Can't wait to try that.

The person at the cashier greeted me promptly, made small talk and even let me try the chipotle sauce. My only critique is when ordering the over rice plates you can add multiple sauces for drizzle but if you want it on the side it's $0.99!!!??? That makes no sense to me. Especially when you are probably using more sauce for the drizzle than what they but in the to-go 1oz cup. This is needs to change because what if you just don't want sauce all over your food.
