I ordered delivery and it took over TWO HOURS to be delivered which is absolutely unacceptable. To make it worse they lied on grub hub and said the ordered was delivered an hour before it actually was. When we called thinking we were crazy or didn't hear the door bell they told us the driver was out with our food l. Yet another lie. I have been to this place several times and the food is not bad but their portion sizes always seem to be getting less. I just purchased a gyro and two combos but one combo was chicken only since my wife does not eat beef, they spread the chicken over the rice and there must be about 3-4 tablespoons of chicken. They tend to load you up with lettuce and if you were to have them put any sauce on the food you will be charged extra for each additional sauce. I would no longer be a customer due to the inconsistency of their portion sizes . read more

So skimpy on the beef and when you try to ask for more the bill works out to about 15 dollars for small platter and fountain drink. In ny they where 6 dollars and aren't measured so skimpy on the meat. read more

I went here a few days ago but forgot to put this up. As I gave instruction on what I wanted in my platter - the server gave very little amounts of (old) lettuce, tomato and just spread it around to make it look like a lot. Had to ask for more twice and they charged me extra. When I was going to pay, I was able to get a peek inside their back area where the food is kept. The pita bread was stacked on top of the raw meat - this bothered me very much as I am a vegetarian. When I got home I saw there were bits of meat on my pita bread and lost my appetite. Im so glad that it opened in Union. I used to drive all the way to East Brunswick which is almost an hour away from my house. My kids love their their yellow rice but my favorite is the combo platter with tabouleh. Ohh dont forget the BBQ and white sauce on top of it. It tastes amazing!!! I've had their food before and it was decent but when you make someone wait 3 hours for your food, give a call in to find out where your food is for them to say it's ten minutes away and a half an hour after that it's still not there, yeah they can keep their mediocre food. I work in NYC but live in NJ. I was happy to see the Halal Guys transplant to union. I went today for the first time and was so disappointed. The ordered a combo chicken and falafel and it was terrible. The meat was NOT hot at all. The rice was mildly warm. There's no dressing on the salad. The Falafel was so Hard, it literally snapped the fork teeth and was dry as hell. The chicken was not flavorful at all. When I went to the register, they rang me up for $9.40 for the Regular size. The guy didn't ask me what size and just gave me the huge platter. The food is inedible and will not return. A huge thumbs down. read more

Overall the food was not bad. My grievances are with the long wait which is expected due to new opening. However the food is served like a chipotle so it is cooked and on warmers. Now while high volume this will not effect freshness but it will if there's not a rush. Other than that it was fairly priced with decent portions in my personal opinion I like royal grill 37 in Tom's river better for food is cooked to order. I must take my hat off to the halal guys white sauce though for it does beat it's jersey shores counterpart! This place is great! I have not had the food at any of the NYC locations, so I can't compare it to that. The line was pretty long on a Friday night around 7:30 (to be expected). The line didn't move super quick, but after finally being able to order, I am pretty sure it was people not knowing how to order and not the staff. They were all very friendly and moved quick. My husband and I each got a platter. I got the combo platter and he got the gyro platter. Their white sauce (I don't even want to know what is in it), was aboslutely delicious!! The hot sauce..... was HOT! My husband grows his own spicy peppers and eats ghost peppers like they are nothing, and he said this was the first place that had hot sauce on his level. The regular platters were a good size and come with rice, lettuce, tomato, meat, sauce, and pita slices. You can add extra protein for $2 but they give you a fairly large portion of meat in the regular size already. The falafel balls were okay, they were a little too crispy for my liking but had decent flavor. The baba-ganouj was really flavorful. I do find it a little odd the baba-ganouj side was $2.99 (you get a lot for that price plus a pita), but the falafel balls were 2 for $1. Next time we will definitely try the hummus and baklava! All in all, this place is wonderful and I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area. read more
