Popular spot and I can see why! The fried chicken here is impressive - it's reasonably priced, generously sized, and nicely flavored. Despite the "hot" name, you can also choose no spice so I appreciate that everyone can come here with any level of spice tolerance. I shared the two sliders with fries plus a side order of mac & cheese, and I was surprised the sliders were almost the size of standard burgers! It actually ended up being great to share for two people (or alternatively, I saw others boxing their second slider for home). I've passed a Dave's Hot Chicken in Manhattan multiple times but it was always when I was running to catch a bus so I never got to stop in. Recently Dave's Hot Chicken ran a promotion that crossed over with the "Fallout" Amazon show so I had extra incentive to visit! I was home so I wound up driving to this location on 22. To get the promotion, I ordered a meal with the "saucy bites". I ordered the bites with the spicy BBQ sauce. The texture was fantastic, with a good crisp exterior and the chicken was not dried out, which is always my biggest worry with such dishes. The spice was low for me, but your mileage may vary. The interior of the restaurant has plenty of seating. This includes one long table with high chairs and more conventional tables with seats. The interior is painted with bright colors and looked very fun and welcoming. They do have rest rooms as well. The staff was super nice and answered my questions about the menu. Another hot chicken place in NJ. This is one of the better ones that I've tried. I Chicken was very juicy. I ordered hot, which was just perfect. Not overly spicy. The rub they used was great too.... really flavorful. All of the combos seems to consist of 2 items + fries, which is actually too much food. I got the 2 sliders ($15), and struggled to finish. 2 sliders + fries is probably better for 2 people (may add a tender or two). Next time I may just get 2 tenders. Fries are crinkle cut, and cooked well. Again, I enjoyed the seasoning that they used. Went here again after having bad experience my first time here. I got their # 3 Combo which includes hot chicken slider, chicken tender and fries and a chocolate shake. They give you a sliding scale choice of how hot you want it. I ordered hot. Slider was good, but still think too much batter on chicken. Tender was huge. A delicious hot chicken sandwich. I'd add some hot honey on top. Tasty fries and I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. I like that it's extremely convenient right off 22. Plenty of parking. Place is always busy probably order online or over the phone so you don't have to wait for long. I think this is one of my top 5 chicken sandwiches. My experience with Dave's was ok. The ladies taking orders all kinda had attitudes like they didn't wanna be there. The food is made to order so it was fresh and templates ordered the extra hot and it was really hot. The only thing was is that it was hot and not much flavor. However, I wanted to try to have the not chicken tenders, which is a cauliflower tender slider (medium spice) prepared the same way and it was amazing. I prefer my french fries without the flavoring so I request that they give me fries without seasoning. The service is spectacular and they really know their products and give suggestions on what to try. The sauce is amazing. And the slider comes with coleslaw, pickle, sauce. I have heard great things about Dave's Hot Chicken so I was so disappointed when I ordered the medium chicken and as soon as I got it home the overwhelming smell of cumin was awful. I like spice but this was so bad it permeated through the plastic lid on the chicken. I am not sure if this was a mistake or if it supposed to be so over spiced but I will not go back.
