Great place for lunch and dinner! I only had a drink there and it was very well done. Caleb held the fort very smoothly while 4000000 people inside. Pleasant, smiling, efficient! The restaurant is massive and has 2 bars and 2 dining areas. The bathrooms are very spacious as well. The restaurant has big windows which allow's plenty of natural light and they are open until 2AM everyday. The lady next to me ordered a turkey club sandwich and it looked AMAZING!
Just came in because the place had a nice and needed to get out of the heat. The place was packed but they still got us a table within 5 mins. Took a walk inside and this place is hugeee. Huge shout out to Stephanie, she was awesome. So glad we got sat in her section. She was fast and attentive. Got small bites. Truffle rosemary fries, firecracker roll and spicy crab roll. Everything was delicious and came out fast. I will say the fries are very greasy but that's to be expected when they drench it in truffle oil. Overall, nice place and good food.
I tried the Hamilton for the first time on a Saturday night around midnight, on the weekend of the US's 250th birthday celebration. Despite this and the crowded bar area, my party of 3 was still seated immediately at a booth in one of the many dining rooms. The atmosphere was both lively at the bar area and calm in the dining areas. Despite how fancy and old-timey the building is, it seems like the vibe is casual. Our attentive waiter informed us that the kitchen closed at 12:30am, so we ordered quickly. I got the: Hamilton burger 4/5 sunny-side up egg, bacon, b&b pickles, tilamook cheddar, dijionaise, house-made brioche bun This tall burger had a thick, juicy patty that paired so well with the egg, bacon, and cheese. I opted to remove the pickles. Considering it was served with fries, this was a reasonably priced meal for a popular destination in the city. BIRD IS THE WORD 4/5 planteray '3 star' rum, smith + cross jamaican rum, daytrip strawberry amaro, demerara, pineapple, lime Sweet, fruity, refreshing cocktail! Nothing to write home about but was indeed a delicious experience.
Beautiful restaurant with classic high ceiling, lovely wood paneling and bird statues decor spread throughout. There's live music downstairs also. Service was fast and friendly. Crab soup was delicious with nice dollop of crab meat. Crab cake was delicious and had meaty chunks of crab. I ordered a single ccake side. Rigatoni with meat balls and short rib was very good but a bit salty for me. I would have preferred tagliatelle or wide long pasta to balance the heavier sauce. Great food and I'm adding it to my fave DC list
4 1/2 Stars. We ended up here at the bar on a Friday night. I recommend making reservations for a table since this is a sister restaurant of the Old Ebbitt's Grill restaurant chain. The restaurant is massive and is popular for locals and tourist. There is no table service for the high-top tables at the bar, so you need to place your orders at the bar and they'll bring your beverages and entrees to your table. We started off with shrimp tempura and caterpillar rolls, Angus cheeseburger sliders, grilled octopus, ragu Americana and rigatoni. For dessert we indulged in coconut mousse and cherry blossom dessert. All the food was solid, and I was impressed with the rolls and tender octopus, which I could cut with a fork. Our server was on point & friendly, and the interior decor and atmosphere is really upbeat. I recommend the Hamilton, but book your reservations in advance.
Stopped by for lunch last week, and despite the heavy presence of Secret Service agents, we were seated right away. It was my third visit, and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the Grilled Steak Salad, while my colleagues had the Hamilton Caesar with Salmon and the Blackberry & Avocado Salad. They both enjoyed their meals, but I have to say mine was the winner! The steak was cooked perfectly medium--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My only complaint was that the salad was a bit too "wet" for my liking. Other than that, the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the overall experience was great. Our server was also attentive throughout the meal. She wasn't overly chatty, but she checked on us regularly and kept our water glasses filled, which I always appreciate.

This was always my go to when I lived in DC and where I would send friends visiting. Sadly it isn't as good anymore. They used to bring complimentary bread with a delicious salty butter but they now charge $9 for that. They used to have a great happy hour for drinks and bites but now they only offer $5 off select sushi rolls during HH. The selection is kind of blah now, there wasn't much that stood out for me to order. The kids meals were also mediocre, especially the pizza.

Made brunch reservations and were promptly seated on our time in a very comfortable booth seating. It was pleasant sunny day in DC, and Marcus, our server was quick to welcome us and take down our order. Booth setup was fantastic, noise levels on the lower end, and sunny! Our order included Cream of Crab Soup ($10.99), Zucchini & Basil Frittata ($19.99), Shrimp & Gritts ($24.99), Kids Pizza, and a side of Truffle-Rosemary Fries ($9.99). Food was in-line with expectations and the Frittata was excellent and based on Marcus' recommendation. The Truffle Fries were fresh and tasty too! Food arrives within 15-mins of placing the order and we felt the menu was priced well. Overall, we had an excellent experience and were glad we chose this place for brunch on our final day in DC! Will visit again and will recommend to friends and family for its excellent food and service, and a great location!
It was my first time at the Hamilton. I came with a big group of 9 celebrating a birthday. They took us to a table at the corner of the restaurant that felt super private and cozy. The restaurant is huge and so many different areas and tables and also a huge bar area. Our service was great, we had many waiters attending us and brought our drinks and food out really fast and took plates in between as well. Everyone loved their meals, their menu has a wide selection and variety of food. I got the shrimp tempura bento and left my plate clean because of how good it was. The only thing I wish they had was a bigger selection of cocktails. I tried two drinks, birds the word and a spritz cocktail and they were just too sour for me but if you like sour maybe you would like them!
I came here because it happened to be one of few spots in the area still open. I was really excited to try the late night happy hour sushi but unfortunately did not love either roll we ordered. The King Toro which has fatty tuna shogun have been so tender and high quality but unfortunately the tuna itself was tough to chew through. The way they added sauce and jalapeño on the top of the roll was odd. The Crunchy tuna roll was the better of the two. Had a spicy crunch to the top and shrimp inside. The restaurant itself is a pretty set up, and has two bars to sit at as well as a downstairs area for events like live music or World Cup viewing.
Excellent food - Hamilton burger, fried chicken sandwich, toro roll, and whole branzino fish with crab fried rice. Everything was tasty (except for the side Caesar salad - soggy with too much dressing). Would come here again.
I recently dined at The Hamilton with my sister, and it was a delightful experience! Located conveniently near the White House, this restaurant boasts a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes. While The Hamilton is known for its crab cakes, I opted for the district wings, which were absolutely delicious. They came with an incredible mumbo sauce that had just the right balance of flavor and crispness. My sister did indulge in the crab cakes as well as the Italian Wedding soup, and she was quite pleased with her choices as well. I also tried the crispy shrimp salad, which was fantastic. The flavors were vibrant, and while I couldn't finish the whole thing, I took it back to my hotel room. Even as leftovers, it was a treat I couldn't wait to dive into! The wine selection was excellent, and I enjoyed two glasses that complemented our meals beautifully. The service was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Hamilton for lunch or dinner. The combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service makes it a must-visit spot in DC. I believe it's associated with another restaurant nearby, which adds to its charm. Th only reason I didn't give a five is because the host sat a group before us even though he said we were next. The Hamilton is definitely one of DC staples for great food. Highly recommend the district wings with mumbo sauce and that you go during a happy hour time. Great ambience, but it can't get very noisy as this is close to the White House. Check it out! read more

We had reservations, and I have to say, parking being that easy in DC was a pleasant surprise. There's a garage right next door, which made the whole experience start off stress-free. Walking in, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It really gives you that "old DC" feel with the architecture and decor. Very classic, a little upscale, but still welcoming. It's definitely a place that sets the tone for a nice evening out. Now the menu... when I say it has a little bit of everything, I mean that. It actually made it hard to decide because there were so many good options. I ended up going with the rainbow trout with fried capers and a side of whipped potatoes, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. Well-seasoned, flavorful, and just overall satisfying. The only downside for me was the service toward the end. As we were literally in the middle of boxing up our food, they started clearing the table. I'm talking I reached for my bread and the plate was already gone. That felt a little rushed and honestly kind of strange. I've been to more casual (and cheaper) spots that don't do that. Other than that moment, I really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance, the food, and the overall vibe make it a place I would definitely recommend, just maybe keep an eye on your plate if you're not done yet. read more
We made a reservation for dinner and was sat right away. I was surprised at how large this restaurant was with multiple halls. Starting off with the classic bread and butter was delicious. We ordered some meatballs and sushi as appetizer, and I got the bone in ribeye which was absolutely divine. The dessert was amazing and the espresso martinis were so good we had to get 3 rounds. Perfection from beginning to end. So glad I made a reservation as it was crowded for early dinner. This restaurant is absolutely an old classic beauty mixed with modern outdoor decor. I couldn't believe how large the restaurant was as it has two large separate dining areas and a bar area with a bonus basement with live music! Service was excellent, food was incredibly fresh and delicious and my favorite was the corn and crab soup ! I could've eaten this in a super large bowl lol. Extensive wine list and cocktail menu, wonderful dessert and for those traveling with kids, they do have a kids menu that was full of great dishes for the littles. Dress code is casually chic or business casual. My cousin is a new chef in DC and wanted to try and I'm glad we had the chance to enjoy a great meal and conversation. This place is massive! The restaurant sprawls across 3 different rooms plus a bar upstairs and a performance stage downstairs. I came for dinner solo on a Friday night. Service was a pinch slow but my server was really nice, it was just wildly busy! The crab cake was amazing but $28 for one order felt steep! The wings with the mambo sauce were just ok.. The sauce was the best part. The mixed greens salad with steak added was just ok too. The steak was cold and tough. Overall, 3.5/5 for decent service and that yummy crab cake. What a beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. I'd say the dress code was upscale. Everyone in here looked as if they just came from the opera. Haha! It was very busy and the waitress was still able to give us great service. She was conversational and offered menu and drink suggestions. The food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious! Steaks were cooked as ordered and did not lack flavor. The salad was fresh and crispy. I wasn't expecting the fish to come out whole, so that was shocking. But I'm glad i still gave it a try. The Hamilton was a pleasant accidental surprise on our trip to DC. We happened to be walking by and decided to stop for lunch- as a family of 5 with young children, we were not disappointed. The service was very fast and efficient. We were seated immediately without a reservation. The ambiance had a very cozy and rustic atmosphere. The food was superb. We all really enjoyed our meals. I really wish the Hamilton were better. It has so many aspects of what I want, it is open late at night, it has sushi and an extensive menu of many things that I enjoy, and it has quite the cocktail list. Overall, the service of Hamilton, he is really quite good, everyone wants to help you, everyone does a pretty good job, but they seem overwhelmed. The entirety of the Hamilton is actually quite overwhelming, if you don't go during happy hour times the prices seem too high. If you go late at night, there's a bunch of people there that just do not make for the best vibe. I will probably continue to come back to the Hamilton because if you need sushi at midnight. This is a great place to do it, especially if you want to Manhattan or other cocktails go with it. However, this is not the place that I want to go on a date or with my team at work. This is a place that will never be seen as excellent because it is nothing more than mediocre, consistently every time. Come after 10 PM, eat yourself some sushi, and have a nice cocktail. You won't feel good about yourself, but you also won't feel bad about yourself. read more

Went in with an appetite and ended up getting small dishes. Very expensive place, but boy it's good! After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were seated at the back of the restaurant. Our server made sure that our diet cokes stayed full and gave us great service for how busy it was. Big fan of that. As for the food, the paprika ketchup on the sliders was a sleeper hit, and the truffle fries actually had a lot flavor and the perfect amount of crunch. As for my salad, I loved it, the flavors all complimented each other very well, but I can't say I wish it hadn't been more substantial. Next time, I'll add some protein or something. Also, try their snickers boozy milkshake, it's amazing. read more

We found The Hamilton while scrambling for a last-minute dinner alternative--and I'm glad we did. Located just a short walk from the White House, it's in a prime spot with plenty of nearby dining options, but this one stood out for its massive interior and unique vibe. The building is huge, with multiple dining areas and a layout that feels like it just keeps going. We were seated in the main dining room, tucked away in the far back, which gave us a good view of the space and its quirky bird-themed decor--a fun touch that added character. To start, I ordered the cream of crab soup and an Old Fashioned. The soup was a standout--rich, creamy, and generously loaded with crab. For my main, I went with sushi, and honestly, it was my favorite part of the meal--fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. I also tried a steak, which was just okay. I feel bad saying that because I don't want to sound like a steak snob, but it just didn't do it for me. We wrapped things up by splitting a cookies and cream milkshake, which was pretty good--sweet, nostalgic, and a nice way to end the meal. The service was friendly, though our server did disappear for a bit longer than expected at times. My bride surprised me with tickets to yhe Hamilton, Wiskey Washed. The event consisted of different food service providers as well as a number of Borbon, and scotch providers. We had tickets that allowed for early entry. In addition to food there were other providers of cigars, non alcoholic beverages. Turned out to be a great venue with great conversation which created an environment a positive ambiance. The food varied in quality and taste, but generally good. read more

The DC scene has been differently lately, but the Hamilton never disappoints. The hostesses are welcoming. The food was amazing, we started with two drinks, old fashioned and lemon drop that was definitely GOOD POURS, and the fire cracker sushi--5 stars every time! Went to The Hamilton Live for the first time to see Bill Frisell, and I'm already planning my next visit. Getting there from 395 was super easy, and while parking in D.C. is always a gamble, there's a garage across the street and decent street parking if you arrive early. I found a spot two blocks away. I had never visited, so I made the mistake of walking through the WHOLE restaurant to get to the venue area rather than just using the side entrance. The venue is downstairs and It totally gave off speakeasy vibes, which I loved. We had bar seats but grabbed an open table and ordered food. I had the margherita pizza...delicious. Although, I do wish they had more vegetarian options. Drinks were solid! I tried the house rum punch and really enjoyed it. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but that's just D.C. The venue itself is intimate and well set up. Great sound, cozy vibe, and even if you're not right up front, you can see everything clearly...and there are TVs throughout if needed. One tiny thing: if the artist is soft-spoken or playing something quiet, the bar's dishwasher might kick on, which is loud if you're nearby. It only lasts a few minutes but was noticeable. Always like The Hamilton. I have usually either come for lunch or eaten in the lower level during a concert. But tonight, a friend and I had dinner (reservation recommended). The place was pretty crowded by about 6pm. Our booth was near the sushi bar and felt a little isolated. But our server was great. He highly recommended the seafood stew we were considering, and it was really tasty - chock full of shrimp, scallops, & fish in a really flavorful tomato broth scented with tarragon. YUM! We got a bread plate appetizer that was too much food - but still very good. The cheese-stuffed bread was a fave-- dipped in the seafood broth: WOAH! I had a nice Pasa Robles Cabernet and my friend got the Zin blend (mine was better). A nice night. We'll be back. Big fan of the fish tacos at lunch and sushi anytime is fab. read more

I always make it a point to stop by The Hamilton when in DC. We were able to walk right in, but at times it can be busy, so a reservation might be worth it. They have both American food and sushi (both are delicious). We had delicious cocktails, and the bartender even made me an amaretto margarita. read more

I adore The Hamilton! A classic DC spot. Excellent food, classy and cozy decor, great service. I also love the venue on the bottom floor which feels super intimate. This time for food we shared a Caesar salad with steak, the falafel sandwich with truffle fries, and the cheeseburger. All delicious. It's a bar and restaurant, and the restaurant part is pretty large, so yes there is kid-friendly seating

I don't think they have a particular size limit, just call in advance to block the space.

I had to order my Sushi upstairs. They have a seperate menu for the theater. This may have changed. I have not been in the theater in a couple of years. I would def call and check.
Do they serve a Crust less pizza?
I've been there and did not see pizza on the menu. Just visited the website menu - no pizza.
Happy hour deals are only on sushi, no drinks specials?
They do have a 720 ml bottle of sake for $25 during happy hour as opposed to $30. It's a nice sake that pairs well with their sushi!
Where is a good place to park and is it validated?
You can pay to park on the street or pay to park in a garage. They do not validate parking. There is no free parking.

How do people dress for night time concerts on the weekend?
I eat at The Hamilton all the time but I've only been to two shows there. I've seen people in everything from casual to dressy. Definitely not black tie unless they have another event before or after the concert.
Is this place ok for kids? I will be traveling with my 9-year-old daughter and I don't want to be THAT person with a kid in a grown-up establishment...
I see kids there all of the time! It shouldn't be a problem.
