The food is delicious, but the service is hit or miss. They have a great selection of meats and sushi. Everything I have tasted there has been spot on with good flavors. The decor is clean and modern and seating is comfortable, but when it gets packed, it gets very loud and especially when the families being their 50 kids and then some. It seems that Gilbert responded to my review claiming that he was present during my experience even though I do not remeber seeing him and his claims about my friends review are completely false. In addition to that I received a friend request on Facebook from Jason amsellem on Facebook who apparently works for this restaurant which I did not accept yet he mentioned me in a comment on a Facebook review for this place saying 'take notes' which I find a. Extremely unprofessional and b. Harassment on social media. I have simply reviewed my personal experience at this restaurant. Overall, my partner and I enjoyed our experience together at this restaurant this weekend. Our steaks were more well-done than we asked for but seasoned well. Our server was informative about the menu and also was kind enough to give us good recommendations about things to do in Surfside. Atmosphere was fine, initially. We had a great salad to start. Would order again for the great vinaigrette. Price is not bad for the area. Our server was aware of our willingness to take our time and enjoy the evening, which we were thankful for. Unfortunately, we ultimately had to listen to a drawn-out argument between a nearby table of men and their waiters. What a kill-joy, to be among diners that obnoxiously jest at their service (loud enough for other diners to hear) once the server has left the table. After reading other reviews of this restaurant, and the reviews of other higher-end restaurants we've been to in this area, I'm honestly annoyed and becoming more and more uninterested in investing time and money into the restaurants in this area. read more

Came here at the suggestion of my mom, she lives in surfside. She always passes by and sees a line of folks waiting to be seated. Had a late lunch/ early dinner with my toddler and mom. It is kid friendly with a few items to choose from and plastic cups. ( if you are a mom, you know what I'm talking about...) We tried the shredded beef tacos for starters,..very good. My daughter devoured them. My mom tried the smoked burger and i delved into the baby chicken. Yum yum yum. Very tasty. Great portions. Nicely presented. Fine dining restaurant, I had as an appetizer very good Tacos, my wife had a new added to the menu Salmon Crunch. They have good wine menu (we had a Shilo Cabernet ) The Côte de boeuf was tender and cooked to perfection as a meat eater and connoisseur I can tell they know what they do. They even have a special steak knife with the Côte de boeuf engraved. At the end the waiter asked us if we'd like to see the dessert menu he came with a dessert tray full of different choices we had (Chocolate mousse and a Lemon tart) DELECTABLE !!! The most disappointing meal we have had in years. Was highly recommend by friends back in London. Lamb dish over salted. Chicken breast had fat (gristle). The King Reserve steaks were not tender and went from medium to medium rare to rare in one piece. This review is honest. I did not ask for a discount. Charcuterie was interesting and varied (but not necessarily worth the price). The chopped liver was excellent. Short-rib flatbread was very good (from the bread, to the onions and mushrooms, to the meat). Steak (rib eye) was good, French fries were thin, crispy, and delicious. It's an ok place , server was ok but the steak is VERY over priced. I had to pay $70 for my steak and where the server claimed that it was aged for six weeks and it suppose to be the best , but it wasn't ,no flavor what so ever and was very disappointed how small it was. We just left there and I'm so confused by the reviews below. This was one of the best meals I've ever had at a kosher restaurant and like top 5 at a non kosher restaurant. Not only was the food excellent but the service was amazing!! Our server Yosef, was one of the nicest and most attentive servers I have ever had. And I was watching the other severs who were also doing a great job, so again such confusion by the reviews. We almost didn't go bc of the 2 stars and what everyone's comments were, so glad we listened to two locals who told us we have to try it! So everything we ate was delicious but I just have to say the beef tacos were heaven. I have been eating strictly kosher for 6 years and I dreamed of good tacos like I used to eat....these are the kosher version. Also the "bacon" wrapped steak was out of control good. Do I need to give any stars??!! This is my email that I sent to the owner and never received an apology nor a reply to the email. We started off our meal really enjoying it, commenting on the sliders and the tenderness of the short ribs starter and ended off the meal with a threat of calling the authorities. I am sadly sending you an email complaining about your management of your Resturaunt harbor grill. According to the manager and mashgiach my experience was due to your last call which makes me very disappointed because I eat out very often and don't ever get treated the way I did tonight. Iv been to your Resturaunt about a year ago and never had a situation like this either. Tonight I ordered the rib eye steak and had ordered it medium on the more well side. We received a rare rib eye which had turned me off from the entire steak, I planed on ordering a burger because of the disappointment. they had informed that the kitchen was closing and that there was soap on the grills and was impossible. Some how they were able to put the steak back on the grill yet it still wasn't appetizing but weren't able to make us a burger. When the waitress explained that it wasn't under her control we asked to speak to the manager. He approached us, I explained to him the situation he said he can not make us anything and can not take the steak off the bill. We didn't see any reason to pay for something we didn't want or eat. Explaining to the waiter that I was still very hungry The manager made fun of me saying "did you lose your appetite or your still hungry" The number one thing about owning a Resturaunt is customer service. I dine out very often and have never experienced something like this in my life! the food is only 50% of the Resturaunt!! The manager claimed that customer service was not a part of his job criteria, I even asked him to give you a call so that you can tell me that to my face as an owner of a Resturaunt in a service industry I would hope that he was incorrect about that. The fact of the matter is that these little details about the "case" is not what's important, did she cut the steak this way, did she taste it,was it really rare, check the cameras! All these comments are stupidity non of that even matters ! the bottom line was that we weren't happy, YOUR customer wasn't leaving remotely satisfied, and no one was looking to change that. Several of the waiters mentioned how this wasn't the first time you called the police on YOUR customer and when the cops got here a waiter even asked the officer if he was enjoying his weekly visit. While the officers were there your mashgiach also had the nerve to claim that we just didn't have the money for it. Iv never in my life been so disrespected and how dare he! coming to a kosher meat resteraunt in Miami with out money does not make any sense, that comment was uncalled for is rude and disrespectful! We would rather give the 40$ to Sedaka then pay you for something we didn't order! All I saw tonight was a hilul hashem in many different ways. The Officers let us know that they get phone calls often about the same situation from Harbour Grill and the manager and mashgiach always give them the same problem. So honestly this seems like something that's on the management's part and you guys seem like the boy who cried wolf. As we were finally leaving 3 hours later the mashgiach came outside and told the officers to suspend us from the Resturaunt which is honestly embarrassing, Iv come to your Resturaunt with my family in the past and for me to be banned because of the way you guys handle your selves only shows more ugly on your part. To call the police instead of handling the situation on your own is irresponsible and shows a lack of knowledge about the service industry. AVOID - I ate here before and remembered the great sushi they offered, so I took my friend here for dinner. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE. She ordered her steak medium and I ordered a roll. When the food came her steak was well done and was missing the side sauce. My roll was missing toppings and a sauce as well. When we got the waiter he started arguing with my friend that she ordered her steak medium well not medium. It was impossible to eat it! i asked for the manager, who also started arguing that the food was prepared right and that if my roll was missing anything it was the sushi chef's fault - not the waiter;s. I'm sorry, but a waiter should know what each dish should look like, and should NOT bring out incomplete dishes. Then the manager got upset and started yelling at us when my friend said that the meat tasted horrible - BECAUSE IT WAS OVERCOOKED. it was the worst experience ever. We were told if we wanted another steak it would take 20 minutes - that was redIculous. I paid for my roll and wine and we left. Luckily we were able to get a great meal at THE GREEK PLACE just up the street. I wasn't going to comment till I saw the comment about the owner berating an elderly couple. The same thing happened to me. I went with my daughter's family which included 4 children. As soon as we got seated this crazy guy comes over to the table and starts screaming at me. Later I found out it was because he didn't like the way I responded to him when he greeted us at the door. I was going to get up and walk out but the kids were hungry and my wife made me stay. But I will never go back there. Truth is that if I got that kind of treatment anywhere else without the kids around I would have flattened him out without caring about any consequences and I'm a 64 y/o zaydy. read more

My husband and I enjoy eating here tremendously. The food has always been good, the servers are pleasant and the outdoor seating is a nice change from the other stuffy restaurants around town. There is nowhere decent to eat in Miami Beach, so its nice to know Harbour Grill is just a few minutes away. read more

Note: This review is about service, because I did not get to eat at this establishment (as detailed below). I happened to be in town on my own for business and thought I would wander Harding street to find a nice little eatery. As I passed Harbour Grill, I saw what looked like a decent steak/sushi establishment. There also seemed to be a good showing of customers inside, so I thought I would give it a try. Upon arriving, I asked for a table for one. The waiter asked if I preferred inside or outside. Now, it's not that it was cold outside or anything. In fact, the weather was quite nice. BUT, it was extremely windy, so much so, that no one was eating outside. This would have made me the sole outside patron in heavy winds, so I said I preferred inside. That's when he gave me the "face." The waiter explained that there were no tables for one, so he couldn't seat me. Then, he offered the outdoor area again. I said, no. That's when the manager came up asking what the issue was. The waiter explained the situation, and the manager looked around the restaurant. He saw that there were 2 free tables for 4-6 and he shook his head vehemently. "Um, no, we have no room," was his comment. I could see that there were people at two-tops that were nearing completion of their meal, but he didn't even offer a short wait. It was just, no. With service like this, who needs a meal! Just be warned before you go to expect terrible, inflexible customer service. read more

I ordered a steak, and after waiting a nice amount of time for an extremely overpriced steak, it was served cold. And when I sent the steak back, it was not much better the second time. We had a 4 or 5 star experience easy, but had to take away a couple stars due to our fellow diner's experience, which was appalling! An elderly couple who had ordered ribs as one of their starters told the waiter it was cold. He took it to the kitchen and then returned with the same plate, convincing them to just try it. Next thing we know, the owner was arguing with the old lady with a raised voice about how she's wrong and it was cooked perfectly. The husband finally gets up with his cane, nearly falling over, to get in his face to stop yelling at his wife. The owner doesn't back down and the couple proceed to walk towards the door to leave. The owner runs to the door and locks them in, blocking them from leaving and calls the cops and telling them they are thieves! The couple backs away, returns to their table to pay the bill and leaves. This scene was made in front of a restaurant full of customers and was a horrible way to treat anyone, let alone a paying customer! He should be ashamed! Here was our experience: We were seated immediately and our menu and specials were explained by a friendly waitress. We ordered smoked drumettes, Kobe sliders, and lamb chops for starters. The chicken was ok but the sliders were delicious and the lamb was juicy and cooked perfectly. We ordered the dry aged tomahawk steak special that was one of the most amazing pieces of meat we ever ate! It was crispy on the edges, juicy and red inside, buttery, perfection! One of us had the burger which was nothing special and hard to cut and chew. We had to wait a while after our meal to order desserts. The cappuccinos were delicious and the Napoleon was ok. Too bad the owner ruined our experience and lowered my rating of a very good restaurant. read more

Unprofessional and unprepared. On a recent stormy evening I took my wife and baby to the "Harbor Grill" restaurant near our home. Before entering I briefly looked at the menu posted on the window by the entrance door out of curiosity. I wasn't worried about the prices, but wanted to make sure they had the steak I was craving in my mind. Nothing made sense to me, and so a server noticed my face, came outside and explained that that was the "catering menu". How ridiculous I thought. Who window shops catering prices? This restaurant might know something that eludes me. Anyway, we walk in and are showed to a table. Let me clarify that we are a forty something, fashionable and in great shape married couple. Our baby has been going to restaurants with us since he first left the house, so he is quiet and well behaved. One could argue that a family like ours could be featured in an ad for Bal Harbor Shops. I say this because we were insulted right away by our waitress when she announced "we do not serve hamburgers or dairy products". How rude I thought. The only time I eat hamburgers is when they are home made by my wife. She is so health conscious that she won't eat them at all. In the meantime my wife pulled out a tiny Gerber box of baby food from our bag and opened it. In less than a split second, our server lunged and grabbed another baby food box from our table without asking and held it up to the light and announced "THIS IS NOT KOSHER!" Needless to say we had everyone's eyes on us. We remained in shock, as she said "Let me get my manager, I don't think you can give this to your baby here." Unlike the server, the manager was not rude at all, but asked us to feed the baby outside and then come back in. I looked at the guy and said: "in the middle of the rain? Are you out of your mind". He explained that the Rabbi would shut them down if he found out he allowed us to feed our baby in the restaurant! As a common sense person I can think of several options for a situation like this. Aren't managers supposed to be problem solvers? They could have offered to puree one of their dishes, or offer a room for feeding him, or at the very least they should know that Gerber has kosher foods! We didn't know, because it is not our business to know. Are babies not people that a restaurant that follows religious restrictions is not prepared for them? They asked us to denigrate our family by feeding our baby outside like a dog in the rain! These people are not only rude but so omnipotent that they managed to delete our review on Urban Spoon. Please do not support them. By the way, my mom is Jewish. Thank god she didn't raise me a fanatic. read more

am not a person who criticizes people or restaurants but you all must be warned of this place and man called HARBOUR GRILL/ Owner Gilbert. You should be ashamed of yourself and the way you treat your patrons. I sat there tonight for dinner with my family and ordered a salad appetizer. I then noticed what looked like a bag or an "unknown" object in my salad. I called the waitress who was nice enough to take it to the kitchen and apologize. She then sent me another waiter who explained it cannot possibly be a bug being a kosher restaurant, etc and that it was a piece of bread crumb.. yeah sure!!. At this point, I still keep my calms and don't make a big deal out of it. I then get the check and see they charged me for the salad so I ask for the manager and demand it to be taken off the bill as I was completely grossed out and at this point, it had to be a principal- A bug in my salad!!!. This disgraceful man who pretends to be the MASHGIACH but is actually the owner tells me there is no manager on premises and that he will not refund the salad because I already ate from it and not just that, he approaches me closely to my face and tells me "what do you think you will eat and not pay for the salad?" I dared him to come close to me so we can all see how this will end, everyone at the restaurant was looking at him and how disgraceful, shameful, a restaurant owner can treat and curse a customer over a freaking salad???? I promised him I live here in Miami for 18 years and I will make sure everyone would know what he did to me tonight. I will certainly never ever step foot in this place ever again. The table next to me came up to me saying they are visiting from Denver and that they were allergic to mayo and that they were told they cannot return their appetizer and that they will never be back either. Absolutely shocked people think they can treat other people this way, let alone run a business!!!!! SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! The receptionist at the door was so rude and nasty to my husband and I that no matter how good the food is, I cannot recommend this place. No matter what the issue is, and we didn't have a big issue at all, a receptionist at a high-end restaurant should be able to communicate professionally and with courtesy and yet she was rude and nasty like a bouncer in a cheap bar. I went to Harbour Grill for the first time last night. We have heard wonderful things about it, but did not have a great experience. The service was mediocre at best, our waiter took way too long to come to the table, brought me the wrong drink, took a while to bring the food, and clear etc. They don't even bring bread to your table unless you know to ask? How would I know to ask? The fries looked like they had come from McDonalds. Not what you would expect from a professional restaurant. They tasted frozen. Nothing special. My husband had a steak which was good. My crispy chicken salad was soggy and after 2 bites we realized that the chicken was off. I sent it back, didn't finish my wine for lack of appetite, and left. All in all it was not the experience we set out for, actually a Bad one. read more
