Go Pats!! Go Redskins! During football season "The Sham" is the place to be!! They have tv's everywhere and a view from every table and the huge bar. You can even listen to the game in the bathroom. Super family friendly for both young and old. Separate rooms for dining as a larger party, both with tv's too. The staff is the nicest around, especially the hostesses. There's almost always a wait on game days, so call ahead and check or get on the list early and hit the bar for the wait. They have an outside tent too part of the year. Parking is crowded but there are always spots. Menu is diverse, lots of great apps, salads, entrees and sandwiches. Drinks are good. The walls are packed with cool autographed sports stuff. If you have football fan sons, the Sham is the best place for "guy day"... People there to have fun, and even the bar area is safe to eat with the kids... No drunk swearing morons, just some couples and buddies with their game day jerseys on and some families or older people relaxing and having a good time... Had my daughter's baby shower here. The staff was amazing and extremely accommodating. Brendan, the event coordinator, was great to work with. We did the buffet and all the food was delicious. Wonderful meal on July 20th, a hot, miserable July start to my vacation. Not wanting to sit on our vacation rental on the first night, we ventured out with the rest of Rhode Island seeking a cool place to have a drink and a meal. I checked out the Haversham for the first time Sunday night during the Giants/Patriots game & came away a fan. I only ordered wings but they do have an extensive menu that looks promising. If the rest of the menu is as good as the wings then the Haversham should stick around for a while unlike the previous restaurants before it. The sign out front advertises 25 cents during NFL games which I couldn't resist. They only have 3 flavors (buffalo, BBQ & sweet chili) but they were a good size & very flavorful. I try wings everywhere I go & can safely say they are the best in the area. They have a pretty good beer selection too & (like Keith T.) I would recommend the Drifter Pale Ale! For 30 wings & 4 beers I spent $31 with tip. The property is beautiful outside with stone work & impecible landscaping. The inside is warm & inviting. I sat in the bar area which has an abundance of flat screen TVs all turned to NFL games. They advertise that they have the DirecTV NFL package which I don't think anyone else in the Westerly area has. I'm 34 & I think I was the youngest one in there though which didn't bother me but I found it odd. Full disclosure: I grew up eating seafood in cape cod and firmly believe it's the best cold water seafood in the United States. For off season it was packed, myself and 2 girlfriends arrived and they told us it was an approximate 25 min wait, so we headed to the bar and ordered drinks, they ask for your number and text you a link to table up to watch your place in line. Which was fantastic and didn't leave you frustrated or worried you missed your name. Once seated we ordered nachos with southwest chicken to start- they were large, came quick but the chicken was quite salty. We ordered lobster hushpuppies which were not bad...a lot of breading took away from the lobster taste. The aioli it came in was very good. The loster bisque was very buttery and needed more lobster, the clam chowder wasn't bad( just not my favorite). For dinner we all had salads, I had the fried calamari salad that was actually very good, different and had a great amount of calamari in it. It was over romain so the leaf stayed crispy. Service was good, he was attentive and we didn't wait long for much , but food was mediocre. My friend informed me it's usually better but I'm not in a hurry to rush back and try again. read more

Do not book your wedding here. I don't typically leave reviews, but I felt this was necessary to warn others. I was the maid of honor for my best friend's wedding at the Haversham. Tara, the event coordinator for the venue was completely unreliable throughout the entire process. The bride would call, email, and leave multiple voicemails for days and often never receive a call back from Tara. It got to the point where multiple other people close to the bride would have to try and reach Tara, because it almost seemed like she was purposely avoiding the bride, making the wedding planning process more stressful for her than it needed to be. I understand she has other weddings/events to manage, but there is no reason it should have continuously been that difficult to get a hold of her. The day of the wedding did not make up for the stress leading up to the wedding. There were not enough seats set up for all of her guests (her final headcount had not increased after she gave it). AV equipment that was requested had not been noted, so it was scrambled together last minute. The two hors d'oeurves that were chosen by the bride and groom were never brought out to the wedding guests, and instead there were two different hors d'oeurves served to guests that were completely random and not wanted. The wedding had cupcakes instead of a big wedding cake, and multiple wedding guests had seen staff of the Haversham taking and eating the cupcakes that were for the wedding guests. I work for a company in planning and throwing special events often, and none of this behavior would ever be tolerated. I do have a few positive things to say, the food for the wedding and rehearsal dinner prepared by the Haversham was all very good. I would recommend going to the restaurant at The Haversham for lunch or dinner, just not for booking events. Tara, the event coordinator also has a VRBO house rental next door to the wedding venue available for rental for wedding guests, and the VRBO rental was extremely nice, spacious, comfortable, and equipped with a lot of cups, plates, silverware, towels, etc. read more

My fiancé and I went to the Haversham last night for the Bruins/Blackhawks game seeing they had an "all you can you eat" wing deal during the 1st game of the Stanley Cup Finals. We arrived about 7:30pm (30 minutes before the game) and it was fairly packed, but not overwhelming. We sat in the bar area which has 9 flat screen TV's, a small bar, and mostly high-top tables. The place certainly filled up as soon as the game started though. Food: We each had the French onion soup - which was very good (very cheesy). We also took advantage of the all you can eat wings - why not right? The 3 flavors to choose from were: Buffalo, BBQ & Sweet Chile (also you can order them plain if you want). The Sweet Chile was by far my favorite, but they were all good. The wings were on the average to large size, naked (un-breaded), and delicious. I'd definitely order them again, especially the Sweet Chile style. Drinks: They had at least a 10-12 beers on tap and a long list of bottled beers. A 25oz bud light draft was $5 and bud light bottles were $3. Decent beer prices for sure. A glass of the house Pinot Grigio was only $4.50 (certainly generous with the pour). We didn't have any mixed drinks, but definitely a decent amount of beers/wines to choose from. Service: Anticipating the large crowds for the game, the staff was fully prepared. We ate dinner here tonight and rate a 2 star. I had the baked haddock which had 1/4 stick of butter drowning it, I could not taste the haddock. Cup of clam chowder had an off taste (like sour cream) and no clam flavor. Sides were just ok. My wife and son both had fish & chips. Our waitress sold them the dish because she said the portions were HUGE but actually medium. My wife is 5'4" 110lbs and she never finishes her meal but she finished tonight. Fish was left in fryer a bit too long, although was not burnt but was past golden brown. I told our waitress about these issues and she just told us there are several cooks. read more

I've posted before with pix. Just to say this time that once again, never disappointed here. Five of us this past Saturday sat outside the entrance surrounded by flowers and it was perfect. We all liked what we had. Always a great portion at a reasonable price. The fish and chips, the grilled veggie wrap the red, white and blue 8 oz. burger; and two other dishes, all outstanding!! Our waiter was Jonathan who was also very personable and also very funny. And despite his recent knee surgery, did a great job up and down the stairs. BTW, he takes great photos. I met my cousin here for a birthday dinner before the dinner rush. The night started off a little poorly as I was waiting for her at what I guess is the back door for half an hour and she was waiting at the front door. Since they seat from both areas I didn't realize I was in the wrong place and the waitstaff never clued us in that hey there is a lady also waiting for someone at their other entrance. This did give me time to take in the ambiance. The atmosphere in the backroom is an odd mix of dark Pub/sportsbar (SO MANY TVS!! Like inches away from each other) and quaint cafe with high seating by windows that look over the green scenery. The front room area is more well light and bright from the sun and windows but the tables are close enough together that I did have a waitresses butt brush but against our table as she tried to get by with another tables order. It also meant that when a noisier family was seated near us we could have participated in every conversation. That said...the food was freaking fantastic. My swordfish was buttery and coleslaw tasty and fresh. My onion rings delicious and some of the best I've had. The prices were pretty reasonable and the service pretty on top of it despite not clueing us in on each others presence earlier. I will say that my cousin got a steak and some fixings and they need to do something with their plating. I think if they made the plates smaller it might help or add some garnish? It looks like little islands of food on a large expanse of plate. This was especially bad on my cousins dish. I definitely want to go here again and try other dishes...so minus some eccentricities a definite recommend. read more

One of my favorites! The menu has a nice variety so I don't get bored having the same dish over and over. The beer selection is fantastic and the atmosphere in the bar area is great. Lots of TVs make it the place to be during football season! Don't want to sit in the bar area? They have a cozy little room off the bar area that's much quieter and probably a little more kid friendly. Nice outdoor dining as well. Food quality has always been good in my experience. I've never had to send anything back. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Overall a really fun place to eat whether with friends or your significant other. read more

Clam cakes and chowdah! SO delicious. Then the grilled salmon was pretty awesome!! The waitress was on top of things and pretty great! I asked to see if they had crown apple, which they didn't, but then one of the bar tenders came up to me and said what they had for flavored whisky and what not.. Great option when we are in the area. Restaurant seats a lot of people so even on a weekend night or during the height of summer there is not much of a wait.if you do have to wait there is a nice garden to walk around outside. I am a creature of habit and usually go for the Mixed Grill or the Prime Rib. Good kids meal options and over all good value. read more

Dylan was a great server but food was not good today, e.g.: 1. Chicken caesar wraps should not be soaked in dressing, rendering said wrap useless in a puddle of nothingness. 2. Staple clam cakes lacked a necessary ingredient - clams. 3. Good clam chowder doesn't contain 1/2 cup flour to make it "creamy." C'mon guys.... read more

Wedding planning is foreign territory for most brides, but The Haversham staff made the process 100x less stressful. Jack, our event manager at The Haversham, was beyond patient and helpful throughout the process - and we're very thankful for that! Importantly, he calmly coached us through each step and told us about small details that we wound't have thought of on our own. He also allowed us to customize our menu and offer a couple of specialty items for people with dietary restrictions. Inside and out, the venue is beautiful. Our guests loved the food and the drinks. I have stopped here a few times, while it is good I find that nothing I have has so far is special. The fried clams were cool if not cold, the burger was overdone but tasty. By far the best meal was a blt pizza. Nice grounds and it can get crowded. If in the area worth a visit, you could do much worse. read more

I've eaten at the Haversham twice. Both times the food tasted excellent and the service was very friendly and accommodating. My second time dinning at the Haversham was after my college graduation. We called ahead to set up reservations, but when we arrived they denied ever receiving our call. However, they quickly arranged appropriate seating for our large group of 9, which was very admirable. I sympathize enormously with the plight of restaurants during COVID-19, but the behavior of the staff and management at this restaurant is perhaps the worst I have ever encountered in a restaurant. I ordered a medium rare steak and wife ordered a salad. They brought out what as clearly a well done steak. I informed the server of this and proceeded to eat my baked potato and beans, waiting for a new steak. The server returned and explained it was a policy to return an entire plate. She took my potato and beans away and left my wife there to eat alone. At that point I got up and left. The server returned with the steak and charged us full price for the experience.
